Chapter Text
It took five and a half days for Isa to be returned to his space. Sol didn't have to ask. It was as simple as passing the hallway that led to Isa’s territory. If the Void Beasts were mostly congregating there like hive workers defending their leader, Isa was there asleep.
Makes sense, I guess. Sol thought to himself as he stood at the entrance corridor leading to Celestial Impasse. Best to protect the consort who also protects the King. But Sol knew it was something more. The bluenette actually worked with the Voidies, maybe with more patience than he showed most of the Specialists. With that they became more loyal to him than they were with any of the other right hands before him. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit… Isa would be scoffing at me. Can Void Beasts appreciate? Can they actually be loyal? Could it just be that Isa is the most openly dominant? His all consuming nature just feels ‘right’ to them?
Celestial Impasse and the path to it was different from the rest of the parts of the castle. Really anyone's personalized spaces were. But the majority of Celestial Impasse was windows. Because of its placement depending on where you were, you could see almost any part of the castle, the tainted land it sat on and of course, the sky. It was eerie looking out there and having no light from the moon to illuminate. It'll be back soon. Just like Isa.
The walk was long, much longer doing it alone and not being sure what would greet him on the other side.
Sol could swear the Void Beasts were judging him as he walked past droves of them. Their inky corroding bodies dripped onto the floor in the darkness of this hallway with no moonglow. Only for the mess to be quickly cleaned up by others. Isa wouldn't accept a mess even from his protectors.
Just as Sol entered the ‘main’ room of the Impasse he saw Xi'an’s silver head walking towards the other exit on a loft across the huge viewing room towards his own quarters. Just like always… Sol leaned on the railing of the loft he stood on.
Celestial Impasse… Sol nearly moved in here with Isa once it was finished. It was in the realization that the only access to the rest of the castle from their great leader’s quarters was through here that made him change his mind.
Sol always thought it was slightly twisted. To have your lover’s domain be the final checkpoint…choke point before your own.
Though Sol knows Isa. He would put the redhead in a place that could only be reached through him as well. That was just one of the words in Isa's complicated love language.
He scanned over the huge room. The dark floors looked like the void opening itself in the low light offered. The darkness made the pale purplish veins on the wall more noticeable. It slightly reminded him of what a void tainted creature’s skin looked like in the early stages, at least. The room seemed so dead. Isa was never one for lively decorating, but it felt more like no one had lived here in at least months…but it had been less than a week. This main room… It was made to contain the Runa but also keep it fed by the moon at the same time. Isa would sometimes let off small muted groans. Sol knew it was from an overabundance of aether in his body. He also knew there were very few ways to relieve that pressure. So having a place that could keep it in was a necessity. Being that this was just a glided kennel Sol supposed it made sense to not over decorate. The Runa would just destroy it eventually after all.
The elf shook his head and lifted himself from the banister. Time to stop thinking, time to do. He was better at that anyway. But still as Sol walked down the first set of stairs and turned again to enter Isa’s actual private quarters he couldn't help but wonder. Was Isa even waking yet? Should he pretend everything was okay? Nothing happened… and continue on. Or was it time to have a conversation? Did he have the mental strength to have that conversation?... Guess I'll find out soon.
