Chapter 4: Kira's Redemption

Summary:

This chapter covers Kira's redemption and also her apology to Buffy and Cyrus and TJ.

Notes:

Andi Mack's characters belong exclusively to the author Terri Minsky, but this story is entirely created and written by me, so it is my story, with a small addition of characters that are not present in the original story, so I will put this message in all chapters from now on.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

A few days after Andi Mack's party, Kira realized how much she's acted over the years living with her family, who are always moving. Now we're leaving Shadyside for Paragon, Utah.

Kira's Thoughts:

Our family always moves, and I never make friends. I thought I could make friends with the students at Jefferson Middle School in Shadyside, like Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman, and TJ Kippen, but I ended up treating them like my enemies. So why do I do this in every town? I think it's because my dad is absent, worrying more about work than me and my mom. And then when I like a place, my dad comes and says we need to move. I found a better job in another city. Doesn't he realize how much this affects me? But first of all, I need to apologize to Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman, and TJ Kippen. I remember what my dad said last night about us moving again.

Kira's thoughts end.

Meanwhile, Kira continues to pack her clothes, remembering that she and her family never stay long in any city, how can they make true friends?

Opening Scene of Kira's Flashback - Last Night:

"The whole family was eating dinner, completely silent, until Kira noticed her parents' gazes at the dinner table in absolute silence, unsure of what was happening, as something new resonated with the various memories in her head. They always made that face when they were going to move, and she was enjoying it here.
"We're leaving before the weekend, so I got a new job in Los Angeles, and the offer will be permanent," Kira's father said, breaking the silence again.
"You always said that, wherever we live, and besides, I like it here for the first time," Kira said to her two parents, who were realizing that for the first time their daughter was enjoying a place.
" - But don't forget that in the other city where we live, you were expelled for starting a fight with your classmates, and here people are talking about us looking at what you did again, now the students mentioned what you did to three students at Jefferson Middle School, you weren't accepted into the girls' basketball team, that you forced your way into the boys' team, with two captains of the basketball team, and even threatened to get in, and the worst part is that two of those boys are gay, so you know what that means for anywhere your mother and I go in this city, that's called homophobia, while in the other school you almost started a fight, what do you say, do you realize the gravity of your actions? - asks Kira's father, still trying to teach a lesson that her actions were serious. Kira didn't think that this could be homophobia, but when she looks at her mother, she realizes that it was homophobia. "I never imagined this could be considered homophobic. I just tried out for the girls' basketball team, and then when I wasn't accepted, I tried out for the boys' basketball team, and then I tried to get close to the boys' basketball team captain. But when I realized he was close to the girls' basketball team captain's friend, I did what I did, but I realized it was too late," Kira replied to her parents, who were shocked by her explanation.
"The right thing to do, dear, is to apologize and apologize. You acknowledge what you did, but if you want to have a clear conscience and peace of mind, you must show all three that you regret it, especially the basketball team captain and this boy," Kira's mother said with determination in her voice, and it was at that moment that Kira realized her actions could have been avoided."

Kira's Flashback Ending Scene - Last Night.

And it was at this moment that Kira decided to send a message to Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman, and TJ Kippen.

Kira's message to Buffy Driscoll:

"Could you meet me at the Spoon Diner? I need to talk to you, Cyrus, and TJ. I need to apologize."

Kira's message to Cyrus Goodman:

"Could you meet me at the Spoon Diner? I need to talk to you, Buffy, and TJ. I need to apologize."

Kira's message to TJ Kippen:

"Could you meet me at the Spoon Diner? I need to talk to you, Buffy, and Cyrus. I need to apologize."

And with that, Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman, and TJ Kippen were surprised by the messages, so they started getting ready and met up near Cyrus Goodman's house. It was at this moment that Kira, also getting ready to go to the Spoon Diner, arrived in the living room and told her mother that she was leaving.
"I've already packed everything in my room. I'll talk to Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman, and TJ Kippen and apologize," Kira said to her mother.
"I understand. It won't be long, we'll meet you there, and we'll all leave together," Kira's mother said. Kira nodded and left the house, thinking she could finally tell her whole story and apologize. She arrived at the Spoon Diner, finally entering and sitting in a comfortable place, where she awaited the arrival of the three. It was at this moment that the three arrived together, entering through the door and ringing the entrance bell, which is above the door. There weren't many people there, because she didn't want what Kira was going to say to be exposed like that to so many people. It was at this moment that Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman, and TJ Kippen sat in front of her, afraid of what might happen.
"Thank you so much for being here. I want you to know that what I'm going to tell you doesn't justify everything I put you through," Kira said to the three. Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman, and TJ Kippen were surprised because she wanted to talk to them. "So you want to apologize to all of us because you've acknowledged that what you did was wrong, especially after everything, including how you treated my best friend and his boyfriend?" Buffy Driscoll asked Kira, pointing to Cyrus Goodman and TJ Kippen.
"Yes, then I'll explain my whole story," Kira replied to Buffy Driscoll, which shocked all three of them.
And it was at this point that Kira told her story of all the times she had to move and never managed to make friends. When she settled down, her father got another job in another city. And before they moved here, she was kicked out because she got into a fight with her coworkers. And then the conversation she had with her parents last night, when she first realized she was being homophobic, and that now she's moving back to Los Angeles. And it was here that the three of them—Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman, and TJ Kippen—sitting in front of Kira, heard her entire story, every detail, and how sorry she was. They also realized that she had never been able to be friends with anyone because she was always moving around. And when she tried to be friends with someone, she would move again, and now she was leaving again. It was as if all her pain was about to surface, first in the fight with her classmates from the other school, and now because of her homophobia. A dilemma arose between the three of them.
"So we forgive you. You've learned from your mistake. There's still time to start over and be a better person," Cyrus Goodman said to Kira, who remained silent and shocked.
"And thanks to you, I had the courage to confess my feelings to Cyrus," TJ Kippen said to Kira, who was looking at the three of them at the same time.
"I realized and I wish you all to be happy and I'm sorry for everything, my parents arrived, so I have to go," Kira said to Buffy Driscoll, Cyrus Goodman and TJ Kippen, and getting up, giving them all a goodbye hug, and heading to her parents' car, and with that the three of them see Kira's parents' car leaving the city.

Notes:

It takes place after the party scene, with Kira leaving the City, which was not addressed in the original story.
