Chapter Text
Alastor made his way back to the Hazbin Hotel the following morning, having stayed round Rosie’s instead. As he reached the front doors and walked through, he was immediately greeted with Vaggie shouting his name with her usual sense of agitation that was carried about her.
“ALASTOR! Finally showed up, did you? Well, at least you decided to fucking help instead of doing whatever the hell you were doing.” Vaggie’s eye glared in his direction, the anger radiating from her body.
“Ah, your attitude is always appreciated, Vaggie. Anything entertaining happened while I was on my errand?” Came his reply, laced with sarcasm. If looks could kill, he would be double dead as she shot him a snarl.
Reaching up to rub her face in an effort to reason with herself, the moth demon sighed heavily. “Errand, my ass, you were gone for the whole evening, but if you must know, Katie Killjoy has been spitting bullshit about the hotel as per usual” huffing as she crossed her arms.
“Anything new that’s come out of her mouth? I bet-“ he hastily added wittily, but was cut off as Charlie came into the main lobby. “Vaggie, what’s the problem? I heard you yell and-oh! Alastor, you’re back!” She turned to notice the radio demon’s prescencd as she made her way next where her girlfriend stood.
“Yes, my dear, I’m back, I just had a couple errands to run that involved my leave for a while” Alastor’s static-y voice rang through the room, the only sound besides Angel’s messages on his phone buzzing somewhere nearby.
“Well, now that you’re back, I’ve been meaning to ask you something-“ before the princess could finish her enquiry, the king of hell himself burst through the hotels main entrance, catching everyone but Alastor off guard, the overlord grimacing with disgust at his arrival.
“Charlie! Did ya miss me?” Exclaimed Lucifer with infectious enthusiasm, before glancing over in the radio demons direction and subtly piercing him with a look that screamed ‘you’re still here, huh?’ Alastor felt one of his eyes twitch with distaste, dragged out of his thoughts when Charlie spoke up.
“Dad, you were only gone for an hour; don’t make a big deal of it” she sighed, half with frustration and half with amusement. “Well at least I had more of a reason than Bambi here!” He remarked, giving Alastor a teasing nudge with his elbow, in turn causing Alastor to snarl in his direction, the urge to push him away undeniably strong.
Vaggie, still there admist the whole commotion, grumbled “Can you two not fuss like two kindergarteners for 5 minutes?”, rolling her eye in exaggeration.
“I was going to ask you something, Al, but I’ll leave it until later” the princess reassured, sensing the tension in the room, before waving off and turning to leave, Vaggie deciding to follow too.
Running his hand through his hair with annoyance, Alastor sighed, and strode off towards the bar. With a snap of his fingers, a shot of whisky appeared on the counter, and gratefully downed it to rid himself of the underlying thoughts in his head that brought him back to his moment with Rosie.
‘What is wrong with me? I’ve never felt like this…am I ill?’
To his unfortunate surprise, Lucifer made his way to where Alastor was seated, and took a seat next to him.
“What’s wrong, Rudolph? Going soft all of a sudden?” The short king quipped, a large smirk resting on his face.
This caught the deer demon off guard, assuming his face never revealed what he truly felt. “H-How did you-?!” He sputtered, the whiskey close to being spat out of his mouth as his eyes shot him a death glare.
“Don’t give me that bullshit, I know that look.” Came the answer, laced with an unmistakable sense of smugness.
Pinching the bridge of his nose as he growled in increasing irritation, Alastor reluctantly asked the question. “…what look…?”
“Hm, you tell me. Desire, lust, yearning…that sort of thing.”
An involuntary cough made its way out of the radio demons throat, trying to keep his composure sustained. “I have no idea what you’re talking about” he protested, thought the subtle twitch of his ears gave it away.
This didn’t go unnoticed by him, as he continued. “Look, I hate you, you hate me, that’s pretty fucking obvious, but I can still read you like a book. You don’t think I know about love? I found Lilith for Satan’s sake!” As he spoke; he chuckled with a sense of irony.
Confusion spurred in his head, as Alastor qualmed “…Still don’t see what this has to do with me and Rosie-“ he stopped. Shit.
‘I said too much fuck-‘
An eyebrow raised. “Oh? That old woman? The one that runs cannibal town? This is too good!” Lucifer burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter, but tried to hold it in once he saw Alastor’s icy grimace and grinned. “Sorry.” But he probably didn’t mean it. Why would he?
“At least I didn’t cause the creation of this damn place with mine” alastor snidely remarked, knowing he would hit a nerve.
He raised a hand to his chest in mock offence. “Excuse you! I’m trying to offer you advice, you prick!” After taking a breath, he resumed. “If you won’t listen, at least hear this. Don’t let anything get in the way of how you feel, even if it is lethal.” He turned to the side adamantly, mumbling. “ I would know.”
Shaking his head, he went “What I’m trying to say is, don’t forget to fuck her up!”.
A look of perplexed bafflement crossed Alastor’s features, surprised at the demons words. “…Don’t you mean hit her up?”
“Yeah, that’s what I meant. Wait what did I say?” He enquired, looking confused himself.
“Forget what I said” the radio demon rolled his eyes at his stupidity. How was this man the king of hell?!
He sighed. “Anywho, I’m going to take my leave once more before this gets…complicated”. Standing up, he briskly turned and left Lucifer by the hotel bar, silence filling the room. Until Alastor popped his head round the door and shouted “DON’T TELL ANYONE!”, before making his way out once more. Lucifer rolled his own eyes. “Dumbass.”
