Chapter Text
Sheppard's POV
He stared down at the head as the wraith's words echoed through his mind, “I think my intentions are clear.” It was true. He could not deny that it wasn't clear now as he held the head of someone who had harmed him recently in his hands. Todd had killed them and he got a distinct feeling that it wasn't because of what happened to Talon, as if that had been the case there would be no reason to bring him the severed head.
This was what back home would be considered a courting gift or a declaration of intent and the wraith was no longer being subtle about it. He spotted Weir laughing in the background like she had expected this, knowing the woman she probably had. He didn't know what exactly he was supposed to say here, especially when he had been questioning things recently. Sheppard looked over at Weir pleadingly.
She came over and said, “Let's get this deal underway before anyone else catches on, then you two can go..talk.”
He sighed as that wasn't quite what he was hoping for but it bought him a bit of time. As they continued the negotiations, he scanned the treeline. It wasn't the most secure location as the trees here were known to mess with radar. It was also a gate planet which meant that the chances of someone crashing the party were not exactly zero. All it would take was someone getting a lucky dial and they might have a problem. It was easier to think about than the bag that Weir had taken from him with a raised eyebrow. He was half tempted to laugh when she tied it off and set it next to Woolsey as he knew the man wouldn't be so calm if he knew what was in that sack.
He noticed them writing and the shaking of hands saying a deal had been made between them, it was one he knew well as he had helped Weir draft it not that anyone would be finding that out if he could help it. He was not a politician and he never wanted to be one so it was best he avoid crap like that unless he wanted to be dragged into it more often. Although she had mentioned adding somthing to it. They had not had time to go over it again before the meeting so there was at least one aspect he was in the dark about, but he trusted Weir
The deal was simple: They would not go after Todd's hive if the wraith were willing to contain the feeding to enemies of the SGC. Once they ran out then it was up for renegotiate, and until then the wraith would help them out with a few things, healing would be based upon the request of the recipient and the wraith as they were not comfortable forcing their hands in such matters. They would also be entrusted with the location of Atlantis which was something he was still on the fence about but Weir had insisted upon.
Todd was walking towards him again, with a curious look on his face. Sheppard still wasn't too sure what the answer here should be. S.o.p said it was a bad idea, hell the human side of him thought it too, but there was a part of him that trusted the man. That didn't think he would be hurt by him, which was laughable really, but he wanted to give in to that side but it would cause issues with the SGC, he would probably get court-martialed at the minimum.
Weir said, “Sheppard, you are acting liaison between our people at the request of Kenny and Todd.”
He sighed out with an exasperated breath and said, “Great, more work.”
Weir winked and said, “Well, it offers some perks, but we can talk about that back in my office. I say give it a go before you crush ‘em”
His confusion grew stronger at that as he had no idea as to what in the hell she was up to, but he did trust Weir to have his back and not toss him under the bus. He looked at Todd and went to say something when he noticed a shine in the trees, one he was familiar with. “Everyone get down.” He darted towards Weir and Woolsey, Beckett and the other medica had already pulled back once the two injured parties had been stabilized enough for transport.
The gate was dialed and people started moving through the gate as Koyla and some of his men stepped out of the treeline that had concealed them firing their weapons. He gave cover and ordered everyone to retreat as he directed Weir and Woolsey to go through the gate. However Woolsey dove behind the gate to hide. If only I could shake this idiot. Surely General O'Neil would understand the urge. Hell, it might even be worth the court-martial at this point.
Chaos broke out as more people emerged from the woods cutting off any further escape unless they went through the new people. He grabbed Woolsey who was about to get shot and dragged him under the table as they were not bulletproof unlike certain beings here.
The wraith, him and Woolsey were the only ones left. He had a bad feeling about this that wasn't improved when a red dart hit him. Son of a bitch.
