Just Your Friendly Infinite Realms Lawyer

Summary:

A bored Danny Fenton is a danger to the multiverse. So obviously that is why Clockwork sicced him on some poor unsuspecting superheroes. Not for any other reason, the free entertainment is just a plus.

Chapter 1: A Wish

Chapter Text

Danny was bored AND worried. After sifting through today's batch of mind-numbing paperwork which said absolutely nothing about the GIW's rampage it was understandable. There were still helpless ghosts trapped by the cruelty of humans. The Realms were one offense away from declaring war on earth. More and more ghosts were preparing for the bloody battle that was sure to rage.
Yet worst of all his baby sister, Dannielle or Ellie as she went by these days was unheard of and unaccounted for. He had last seen her 2 weeks ago when she popped into the Realms for a quick visit. While she was very capable her naivety and impulsiveness often overshadowed her common sense. Danny finally understood how Sam and Tucker must have felt every time he pulled a new stunt. And since she usually sent him a funny meme or selfie at a famous landmark every few days, so it was safe to say he was worried about his little sister.
Which was currently why he was floating around Clockwork’s tower like a dejected puppy without an owner.
“My prince, if I may be able to suggest that you could do something of substance than wander about here?” Clockwork said as though he hadn’t dropped a bomb on the halfa.
“What?!’ Danny exclaimed with a betrayed look on his face. ‘Oh, don’t tell me, Clocky, I know that look you know something I don’t.’
“Perhaps you should take a look at these.” Clockwork stated handing Danny a sheaf of neatly organized papers bearing the Infinite Realms Court Insignia. Danny quicky flipped through, while tapping his finger against his leg.
Danny tilted his head, “Yanno I kind of wish I could make paperwork fun."

As you wish.

Danny disappeared in a poof of pink smoke while a certain genie laughed in the background.

Clockwork smiled while chuckling a quietly too himself.

Chapter 2: A Interesting Interview

Summary:

Apparently Batman believes in ghosts.

Chapter Text

The Justice League, while an officially recognized organization still ran into some legal troubles from time to time. For example Superman and the Flash Family were currently being sued for flying and running over the speed limit. Diana was being sued for slander and government defamation. In fact, Batman himself was being sued for emotional distress, blackmail, and harassment, and breaking and entering.

It would have been laughable had it not generated heaps of paperwork that Bruce had to file. As a businessman he was no stranger to files, but these documents seemed designed to trap him specifically.

Bruce himself was tired of the extensive legal process each minor offense entailed whether laughable or not. It took away from his valuable case and family time.

So that's why Batman was currently interviewing candidates to become the official legal representatives of the JL.

So far 3 candidates passed out, 2 threw up, 1 had a panic attack, and 9 were catfishing. How they thought they would get away with catfishing the Justice League who had literal mind readers on standby was beyond Bruce.

Only one Daniel Orion Nightingale was left. There was nothing outwardly odd about him if you ignored the way his eyes glowed when he got excited, or the way his shadow seemed to move of its own violation.

He was right at the interrogation section of the interview. Batman knew without looking Superman was right behind him ready to step in if it came to it. Bruce snorted slightly, Clark was cute when he unnecessarily worried.

Nightingale was 21 years old and had just graduated Cambridge the previous summer with a triple degree: a major in engineering and law, with a minor in biology. He had shoulder length messy black hair and clear blue eyes. Batman's eye twitched, he could practically hear his children mocking him about a new sibling and adoption bait.

“Where are you from, Daniel?” Clark asked, trying to break the ice.

Daniel flinched.
Oddly there were no files on Nightingale until he went to college.

“Amity Park. And please call me Danny.” Nightingale seemed strongly averse to his first name.

“As in the ghostly Amity Park?” Superman’s eyebrows rose slightly.

“The very same. Hey, do you believe in ghosts?” Nightingale’s gaze was heavy as though their answer would either hurt them or help them.

"Yes." The words were out off his mouth before he could even process what he just said.

Hurt them.

Nightingale stared at him for a what was probably two more seconds before running a hand though his hair. Danny laughed if you could even call it that, an eerie melody that sent shivers down Bruce's spine. Then he walked out.

That was 2 weeks ago.
