Chapter Text

~Ariya Martinez~

I hate the feeling of having to wake up for school but I going to school to achieve my dream to be a nurse and wanting to make my parents proud of me for once in their lives, my dad and I don't have a good relationship but it's better than what my mom and I have, my mom is bipolar and has her days.

I had restless days and nights thinking of all the reason why I was such a disappointment to my parents but I try to not think of it thinking it will just go away, even if my mom and dad aren't emotionally there for me, they were still my parents

But I hated the way they'd treat me, all the emotional abuse and fights, them making me think I was useless and selfish and too sensitive hating myself, I couldn't help but think I was the problem but I can't do anything about it

"Wake up, Ari, I don't want you to be late," my mom says, walking into my room.
"I don't wanna go!" I mumble to myself, my mom comes in,
"come on up".

I get out of bed, I walk to the bathroom, then quickly change into my clothes, just a gray hoodie with a tank top under and jeans, I then brush my teeth and hair, and apply some makeup to not look dead. I hear my mom walk in,

"Ya me voy a trabajar" (I'm leaving for work)
"okay" I responded as I walked back into my room, my mom and I never say I love you and it's been like that since I could remember.

she never showed any kind of affection or love I felt emotionally neglected, I can't say physically because she feeds me and buys me clothes and stuff but it's as bad.

I hear the front door close, and I put on my shoes and check my bag for all my essentials
"Pencils, pens, notepad...and iPad".

Once I saw I had everything I grabbed my car keys and an apple and drove to school. About 10 minutes later I arrived at school and walk in the lobby to go look for my friend Lily, her and I met freshman year of college her and I met at a rally during school but she's majoring in computer science.

I have no idea what she be learning in that class as I never took interest for it but she always had a thing for it. I see her sitting at our usual table, as I'm walking to the table, I suddenly bump into someone.

I looked up to see a tall, good-looking boy I've never seen before, he looked at me and looked hesitant to ask for something, I don't blame him I hate talking to people it's just something I have even with Lily there's some days where I'm shy to talk to her about stuff
"Do you need help or something?" I finally ask
"Yeah, I need help looking for the computer science building," he says kinda shyly.

I nodded at him to follow me, I walked over to Lily

"Hey girl, this boy needs help finding the computer science building." Lily just stares at the boy whose name I don't even know.

I snap in her face, and she snaps out of whatever trance she was in.
"O-oh yeah, I'll take him...what's his name?" As I was going to ask the boy, he beat me by responding with his name
"Lucio, Lucio Castello." That name sounds like the youngest son of the Castello's who are crazy rich and own businesses, but there's no way they would come to a college like this one.

"I'm Ariya, and her name is Lily." Lily nods and looks at me as if she's wondering why someone would transfer this late in the year and on a Friday, but it wasn't our business.

The bell rings, indicating that it is time to go to class, and that reminds me of my art assessment
"Bye, Lily, I'll see you at lunch! Bye, Lucio ." He just nods
"Bye, love, good luck!" Lily replies. This is gonna be a long day.
