Chapter Text

"Alright, Moon. You said there were children that came through the portal?" Sun asked, pushing through the large doors of the Daycare. Moon had migrated back to the security desk, and Solar kept away from the ball pit, not wanting the risk getting a ball thrown at his face again.

"Oh, you're finally here. Yeah, about 7 of em. 3 girls, 4 boys." Moon responded, looking up from his computer where he'd been trying to track the dimension the children came from.

Sun's protocols were already going haywire. 'Children in the daycare? After hours? Where are their parents? Were they abandoned? Are they registered? Maybe I can contact the parents through email!' His inner voice thought, even though Sun knew that he can't contact their parents, as these kids aren't from here.

"Threw balls at me and Monty, too." Solar said, glancing over at the children still in the ball pit with annoyance.

"You called Monty before me?" Sun was astounded. In what world would Monty be better at children than the literal daycare attendant? Hell, Monty would rather die than have to work one of Sun's shifts. Though, in hindsight, anyone would. After all, Sun takes care of 50 kids average. Yes, Sun. Not Sun and Moon, just Sun. And he does it like clockwork.

"I thought since he is a glamrock, he would have some experience!"

"You...have an interesting though process, Moon." Sun has already started approaching the ball pit, leaning over the barrier to look down at the kids on the island. The blond girl was standing in front of everyone else, and a brunette girl was standing behind her as backup. Sun, seeing the 5 crying children behind the two girls, almost glitched out from how fast his protocols activated.

"Hello there! My name is Sundrop, but you can call me Sun! You're in the SuperStar DayCare! Can you tell me why your friends behind you are crying?" Sun started with an introduction, as he always did. Saying his full name and then giving them a nickname to call him was always a great way to show you're friendly, which is why Sun did it. It worked most of the time, which is why he isn't surprised when the blond girl's shoulders relax slightly.

"A-Are you friends with that moon guy...?" The blond girl had asked, still guarded, but the yellow man was energetic and seemed more friendly than the other 3, and he was smiling really big...

"I am! His name is Moon! Did Moon scare you?" Sun said with a smile. When the girl nodded yes, Sun turned around to "reprimand" Moon. "Moon! How dare you scare them! That's not very nice, Moony!" Sun said, looking over his shoulder to wink at the girls. The kids behind the two girls giggled a little bit, still sniffling, but the waterworks had stopped, which was good! Progress!

Meanwhile, Solar and Moon were shocked. Sure, they need Sun was good at his job, but how??? It shouldn't be possible. Solar looked similar to Sun, yet he got a ball thrown at him! Monty was a glam rock, but he did look like an alligator, so that one was kinda understandable...But Solar and Sun looked so similar! The only difference is that Sun is yellow, Solar is more orange, but do colors really matter that much to kids??

"Can you guys tell me your names?" Sun asked, still leaning over the barrier separating the main area from the ball pit.

The blond girl looked over her shoulder to the other kids before nodding, speaking cautiously. "I-I'm Amanda... She's Sarah..." Amanda pointed to the brunette girl behind her. "He's Xavier." She pointed to the red head boy. "Lily." She pointed towards the brunette girl with caramel highlights. "Jackson, b-but we call him Jack." Amanda pointed to the boy with the darkest head of hair, but he also seemed the youngest. "Trevor." A boy wearing a plain red hat. "And Ian." Amanda finished off, pointing to a boy with blue eyes.

"Such lovely names you all have! Do you guys wanna come out of the ball pit?" Sun asked, gesturing to the ramp on each side of the island they're at. Amanda went first, cautiously climbing out and nodding to the others that it was safe. Soon, all 7 of them were out of the ball pit, the other 5 hiding behind the 2 girls. They were all staring curiously at Sun.

Solar had migrated towards the security desk with Moon, standing by his side. "How is Sun so good at this?" Solar asked Moon, watching as Sun crouched down to their eye level. "He's been doing this since forever. 7 kids is barely anything to him, he used to take care of 100 kids average." "By himself?" "Yup."

Solar looked over to Sun, who had busied himself with cleaning Trevor's scrapped knee, Amanda watching just in case. "I don't think that's possible." "Why do you think he has the patience of a saint?" Solar hummed. That...would make sense. Taking care of a bunch of kids hanging from 2-18 daily was a task only an angel could accomplish. Hell, not even Earth could do it. She would get burnt out after 20.

"Do you guys wanna play a game?" Sun asked. Even Amanda, who looked to be the oldest (6), was giggling happily, nodding along to Sun's words. "Alright! I'll count to 100, and you guys hide, okay?" Sun made a show of covering his eyes, counting out loudly. He could hear the giggles get more distant until there were none around him, all 7 of them hiding.

"98...99...100! I'm coming to getcha!" Sun yelled out loudly. Alright, where could these rascals be hiding? He started with the castles by the ball pit and found Ian fairly quickly. "Got you!" He said.

Ian was quickly picked up and taken back to the main area of the daycare after a tickle session. Ian was still giggling when Sun went into the ball pit to search for another kid. It wasn't hard to find, as Lily didn't manage to get very deep. Sun popped out of the ball pit with the whining girl in his hands. "No fair!"

Sun set her down by Ian, booping her nose. "Ah-ah-ah, starlight! No whining, okay?" Lily had quickly calmed down after that, content to sit by Ian and watch the others get found.

Sarah ended up being the last one standing. Sun walked around the daycare. Hmm...he checked everywhere except the security desk. But Moon and Solar are there, she couldn't have snuck past them? Regardless, he checked, and found Sarah hiding under the desk. She'd managed to be really quiet, and even though she was scared of Moon, she managed to keep quiet.

"Found you!" Sun shouted, surprising Solar at the sudden noise. Sun pulled Sarah out from under the  security desk. "Good job, Starlight! You won hide and seek!" Sun clapped for her, setting her down with the other 6. "You've won a slap bracelet!" Sun gifted her the star themed slap bracelet before moving on, standing in front of the crowd.

"I bet you all must be really hungry after such an intense game! What does everybody wanna eat?" Sun asked. He purposely used his hands, pointing at the crowd with an ease Solar and Moon could never execute.

Sun watched the kids shout out different answers. "Pizza!" "McDonald's!" "Chick-fil-A!" were the most popular answers. Sun decided on Pizza, as it would be the most filling. He called out to Moon. "Hey Moon? Can you order plain cheese pizza?"

"On it!"

"Thanks!"
