Chapter Text
Greg rolled his eyes yet again at the background on his phone as he unlocked it. Sally had changed it awhile back to Colin Firth’s Mr Darcy emerging from the lake. He rued the day he’d told her that was his favourite movie scene ever.
Oh good! It was calendar delivery time again. Anthea as per usual had texted him to request her two copies of Scotland Yards annual calendars. They released one every year in December to help raise money for a local charity.
Since he needed to drop a file off to Mycroft Greg decided to save himself multiple trips and grabbed Anthea’s copies of the calendar to take as well.
“Here you are,” he grinned handing them and the file over, “I’m available for autographs. Amazingly I’m on the cover as well as March for this one.”
Anthea whistled as she looked at both of his photos. “Wow, they did well this year. Definitely top tier. Speaking of calendars - our department made one too this year.” She paused to pull one out of her desk draw, “I think you’ll find June particularly interesting.”
Cautiously Greg flicked through the offered calendar. “Holy shit!” he exclaimed, sitting down.
There was no way. Absolutely no way this was real. He couldn’t tear his eyes off of the picture before him. If he thought his phone background was swoon worthy, he was dead wrong about it. It had nothing on this.
Mycroft Holmes was recreating the very same scene. He’d even grown his hair longer for it. Greg traced the glorious dark red curls, wishing he could get his hands on them in real life. His gaze traveled down to the wet, very see through shirt and back up again to Mycroft’s face.
“Fuck me up. I’m going to need to change my phone background,” muttered Greg. He was sure Colin Firth wouldn’t mind the change.
“How about you take Mycroft’s copy of your calendar into him? He’s going to need help choosing his new phone background since there’s two pictures of you this year.”
Wait. Mycroft had previous calendar pictures of him as phone backgrounds? He thought Greg was good enough to be his backgrounds? Greg looked at Anthea for confirmation. She nodded. So Mycroft was interested in him as well. This was good. Very good. Since the photo didn’t make him, that news certainly did - Greg fainted.
