Chapter 4: Sensitivity

Chapter Text

The whole morning sickness part of the pregnancy wasn't really affected Tenna. Which was good for him, because he still wanted to continue working.

He still hasn't told the crew about the news. Even after Spamton reassured him that they wouldn't care that Tenna is trans. It still terrified him, the thought of his crew, some of the closest people he knows to turn his back on him.

He noticed Spamton seemed terrified in his own way. Whenever someone called him, he became paranoid to pick up the phone again. It wasn't until he found a way to display the caller's phone number too. Apparently, according to Mike, Spamton's ex-benefactor had found a way to contact him, and used Tenna's name to get the poor addison to pick up the phone.

It had been a few rough days, but now the weekend was closing in. The ratings always went up when the weekend was here, many lightners don't need to go to school or work, which gives them more time to spend with their TV's.

Right now, Tenna felt his body betraying him... his sense of smell seemed to have gotten more sensitive due to his pregnancy. "Ack! What's that 💀RANCID💀 smell!?" A static charge went through him, making it look like a cat with spiked up fur.

"Uh, I don’t smell anything boss..." Mike said. Tenna looked over, clearly pissed. That got Mike to talk again. "B-but then again... I don't have that wonderful sniffer of yours." They added.

"Well, whatever is making that awful smell... better be found soon!" Tenna hissed.

"Yes boss!" Mike gave him a salute and went off to find what was creating that horrible smell.

Tenna took a deep breath to calm himself down. It sort of worked, the smell was still getting to him. He was so overwhelmed with emotions, he needs to lay down. He starts heading towards his office, hoping nothing stops him from relaxation.

"Oh, Tenna!" He saw Shuttah holding up a few sparkly outfits. Well, so much for his relaxation... "Which one feels more Mister Ant-tenna to you? The red? Or the gold?"

"Ah, well... I like the red more..." The CRT scratches the back of his neck. "What's the occasion for those outfits?" He nose twitches slightly, he can still smell that awful smell somewhere.

"Don't you remember? The Granny's is this weekend..." Shutta said.

Tenna had completely forgot, how could he forget about one of the biggest award ceremonies for film and television was this weekend!?

A sudden wave of nausea quickly reminded why. "I had a few other things to deal with this week." Tenna felt like the heat was suddenly cranked up to 100°. "Now, I'll be in my office if anyone needs me." He quickly sped off, making it there without any interruptions. He locked the door and sat on the couch, taking off his jacket, Tenna felt his fans kicking into gear.

He had but thirty seconds to himself when he heard the door knock. "Mr. Tenna! The lighnter children are home early than on schedule!" A muffled voice of a pippin said. "What do we do?"

"Shit." This was not good. Tenna tried to get up, but his legs felt like jelly. "Stall them! Get Spamton to run an ad... I'll be there in a few minutes!"

"Understood sir!" He heard the pippins leaving. Tenna let out a heavy sigh. Today was not his day to day... his head throbbed with pain.

"Ugh... I thought morning sickness... was you know... suppose to happen in the morning." He got up and grabbed his jacket. Tenna is not sure how long he can keep going before his body has had enough.

------------------------------------------

Kris sat down on the couch, looking down in embarrassment. Asriel meanwhile, was bruised and had an ice pack over his right eye.

The young goat got into a fight, defending Kris from one of their bullies. Which quickly got him suspended, along with that bully. Kris wasn't suspended but still had to come home anyway.

"Asriel, I know you care about Kris. But fighting Kris's bullies is not the way to deal with them." Toriel scolded. "Young man, you are grounded. No TV or computer for a week. Understand?"

"Yes mom..." Asriel looked down in shame.

"Good, now head to your room." She gently patted his head. "Get some rest dear. I'll call you down for dinner."

Asriel gave a nod and headed upstairs. Once he was gone, Kris spoke up. "Am I in trouble too?" They really didn't want to miss out on spending time with Mr. Tenna.

"No my child." She said calmly. "You didn't do anything wrong. Now, I'm going to start making dinner. Why don't you watch some TV?" Then, she spoke in a hush voice, not wanting Kris to hear, but they heard anyway. "If it decides to cooperate today..." Toriel headed to the kitchen without another word.

Kris knew what their mother was talking about, Mr. Tenna has been acting funny for the past few days, they had to mess with his antennas to get him working again. They hoped he was okay and not getting sick... An idea hit Kris. 'Wait... the email! Maybe I can ask what's going on with Mr. Tenna that way!' They just hoped that he wasn't dying.

-----------------------------------------------

Once Tenna was freshen up, he headed towards the stage. He tried not to look at the bright stage lights directly, it made his headache worse. He could see Kris watching him with curiosity in their eyes, have they noticed the him acting off?

It didn't matter because the show went off without any problems. Before his connection was cut off, he learned Asriel was in trouble... what for? Tenna didn't know. But now it's got him thinking... about his own child.

What would they look like? Would they look more like him? Or Spamton? Or maybe a perfect mixture of both? Would they have Spamton's speech quirks? What would they look like to the lightners?

All of these new questions have to wait to be answered, which really upset him. Was it just him or were the lights getting brighter? He snapped out of his trance to see a few members of his crew fighting on the panel control. In fact, a lot of his staff was fighting!

Tenna had enough. "WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON HERE!?" He felt his tail whip from overstimulation. Everyone paused their fighting to look at their boss. "Can anyone explain what the ruckus is about!?"

Elnina spoke up. "Well uh... it's ummm has to do with you, snowglobe."

Tenna flinched, why was she using that nickname right now? 'Please don't tell me they suspect I'm...'

"Boss. You sure you doing alright?" Mike asked. "You've been acting off all week. The reason this whole infighting started were us trying to figure out what's up with ya."

"I can assure you that I'm alright." Tenna tried to ease their worries. "I guess I'm having an off week... it happens. Now, these bright lights are giving me a headache. So if anyone needs me, I'll be in my office." With that, he left.

Once Tenna was finally to lay down on the couch he let out a sigh. "All this stress can't be good for the baby..."

Right... what happens when starts showing... like really showing? He could hide a small bump by wearing his jacket a bit looser but, by the end of his pregnancy? No shot.

He knows he has to come clean to his employees one day... but right now. He wants to relax, they can wait until Tenna is ready to tell the truth.

But when will he be ready?
