The next day, Rikki is walking along the beach when Zane runs up her and stops her.
Zane: Rikki! Ok, so when?
Rikki: When what?
Zane: When are we going to go out?
Rikki: The two of us? Forget it.
Zane: Aw come on Rikki. I’m really not a bad guy. Just give me a chance. I know you want to.
Rikki: And how do you know that?
Zane: Because of that amazing kiss we had the seminar yesterday.
Rikki: I don’t know Zane.
Zane: Look, all I’m asking for is one date. Please. I really want to go out with you.
Rikki: Really? What’s in it for you?
Zane: Nothing. Nothing at all.
“Really?” Rikki asked raising an eyebrow.
Zane: Absolutely yes Rikki. Look, if you go out with me, I’ll drop this whole sea monster thing.
Rikki: And if I don’t?
Zane: I’ll drop it anyway.
This causes Rikki to stop dead in her tracks, but she still hesitates.
Rikki: You really dropped this whole hunt on your own?
He nods
Rikki: I still don’t know Zane.
“Allow me to change your mind” Zane said stepping forward and slowly capturing her lips with his, hands under her cheeks and fingers behind her neck
Rikki POV
Wow, he dropped it. On his own. He must really want me. He really does have nice lips. Wow, he’s a hell of a good kisser. I don’t want this to stop. Ever. Maybe he has really changed.
Zane’s POV
Wow, she’s amazing. So beautiful. She has such lovely eyes and she really does have nice lips. She a good kisser too. I don’t want this to stop. Ever.
She doesn’t know how or why, but her hand has fisted in the bottom of his shirt pulling him closer. He doesn’t know why, but his tongue has slipped into her mouth and so has hers. They each deepen the kiss as his hands slide down, wrapping themselves around her middle, pulling her to him as if they can’t get enough of their kiss. Eventually, they pull apart, but his hands are still around her waist.
“Wow” They both said as they gazed into each other’s eyes
Zane: So did that change your mind?
She nods
Rikki: You are one hell of a good kisser Zane.
Zane: I’ll take that as a compliment. You’re not bad yourself Rikki. Plenty more where that came from if we end up as a couple.
Rikki: Yes.
Zane: What exactly are you saying yes to?
Rikki: Yes, I’ll go out with you and yes, I’ll be your girlfriend.
Zane: You just made me the happiest man alive. I meant what I said. I don’t care about the whole sea monster thing anymore. All I care about now is you Rikki and making you happy. That includes keeping you safe.
Rikki: Glad to hear it Zane.
Zane: There is one thing that I would like to do before we go out.
Rikki: What’s that?
Zane: I want to sincerely apologize to Miss Chatham. I feel terrible for wrecking her boat. It’s my fault her boat sank and I feel awful. I mean, that was her home and I wrecked it.
Rikki: Wow, that’s incredibly big of you Zane.
Zane: Hey, it’s the right thing to do, so where is she?
Rikki: Up here.
She takes his hand and he interlaces their fingers together. They walk further and sure enough, they see Miss Chatham on the boardwalk that leads to the beach. Rikki turns to him
Rikki: You sure you want to do this?
Zane: Absolutely yes. It’s the right thing to do.
They walk up
Rikki: Miss Chatham, Zane has something he wants to say………
