Work Text:
After handing out what some may call as little as a pencil, Noelle began to pine. It was out of Noelle’s nature to be fawning over someone, normally being focused on studying, but she had found herself a new obsession. Susie. The purple, unhygienic, scary dinosaur girl. Noelle didn’t consider herself to be — well, gay, until this. It was a surprise for herself, but it was pretty obvious from the way she eyed Susie while Alphys was teaching.
Noelle was convinced that the dark world was a dream. I mean— it was too unrealistic for any sane person to believe. But Susie was in this “dream”, of course. Along with Berdly, Kris, and this fluffy goat thing.
The thing was, Noelle was on a ferris wheel. With Susie. Only Susie.
It was awkward, Noelle fidgeting, Susie looking out the window. Silence.
Noelle wanted to say something, to make the first remark, but she didn’t know what to say, playing with the hem of her white dress.
“So, uh, you just gonna stay mute this whole time?” Susie said, awkwardly.
“No!—“ Noelle replied, blushing slightly. Susie took note of this.
Susie eyed the window even more, avoiding eye contact.
“Susie,” Noelle started.
“If this is all a dream…”
“Can I ask you something that I wouldn’t be able to ask normally?”
Noelle cursed herself. Why would she drag herself into this? Now she has to say it.
“Jeez, if you want too that bad.” Susie snickered.
“Are you… um…” She sighed, her voice dying out, going quiet.
“Go on.” Susie insisted. Susie was trying to hide how curious she was.
“A-….”
“Are you gay?” She forced out of her mouth, instantly regretting it.
Noelle was flustered. How could she say this? She tried to pinch herself to wake up, but she couldn’t.
Susie couldn’t believe her ears. She was flustered. But Noelle thought this was a dream, so she could get away with much more. The turning of the ferris wheel mixed with the suspense made Noelle want to throw up.
Susie took a deep breath. She had to play her cards right.
She looked towards Noelle.
“Depends..”
“Are you?”
Noelle gasped. She felt like she would pass out. Was the girl of her dreams really asking her if she was gay? Noelle’s face was hotter than a metal slide in summer.
“I mean— um, uh..”
She stammered.
“Y-yes?”
Noelle died inside.
“Then yes, I am.”
Susie tried to play confident, but she was secretly VERY nervous.
Noelle ran her hand through her hair. She leaned in towards Susie. She felt an edge of boldness creep onto her.
“Can I…?”
“Hm?” Susie responded.”
Noelle kissed Susie. Stunned at first, Susie didn’t know where to put her hands. Noelle pulled back, ashamed of herself.
Susie, after taking a minute to process, grabbed the back of Noelle’s head and slammed their lips together. Noelle had felt as if a weight had been lifted off her back. Susie and Noelle made out for a solid minute, Noelle feeling Susie’s tongue against her and melting. Susie pulled back, making Noelle gasp for air, both of their faces red, embarrassed.
“Sorry….” Susie apologized.
“That was a little uncalled for.” She was embarrassed. Red. What would happen if Noelle found out that it was real? Would she hate her?
Noelle paused. That was magical. She thought to herself about how real it felt.
“Don’t be…” she replied, feeling fulfilled.
The ferris wheel had come to an end. They got off, returning to their adventure, acting as if nothing had happened. It still showed on their faces, though. Noelle didn’t want to wake up, finally giving in to the thought of staying.
