Chapter Text
Long Ago
In the farthest part of town, in a deep forest, there is a two-story cabin with beautiful gardens. In an elegant cottage, two women in splendid dresses and dazzling appearances were sipping tea. They were both taking a break, hoping their children wouldn't kill themselves.
- I hope you're okay - the blonde woman looked worriedly at the window where two boys and a girl should be.
- Calm down, dear - the woman with black hair and crimson eyes tried to reassure her - Tania knows how to take care of herself and your children are too strong to be seriously hurt -
- You're right, Aringo - the blonde woman smiled calmly at the demon disguised as a human - after Sparda disappeared in the night when he gave the necklace to the children and didn't come back, I didn't know how to explain it until you came this day
- At first when we followed Sparda to the human realm we thought that maybe we could be his spouses - The black haired woman looked at Sparda's wife - but after almost two millennia he found you and he loves you very much as you love him - she said. Eve could see how small tears came to Aringo's eyes - that is why Targon and I decided to have Tania
Eve approached where the demon was sitting and embraced her. Aringo lost contact with Targon when he gave Tania the Aeternus, a sword that contained almost all of Targon's power, and Aringo ended up giving his daughter the Necromancer. Sparda and Targon disappeared at the same time, but Aringo no longer senses their whereabouts.
- I feel calm that you don't hold a grudge against me - Eva looked at Aringo who just burst out laughing - When I met you for the first time was when Sparda told me the truth about who he was and who you were
- From the moment Sparda said he was getting married, I stopped having hopes. - Aringo was sincere, she was too proud to go after Sparda when he was already finding a woman. - But Targon was different, and I'm sorry you witnessed strange scenes.
- Don't worry - the blonde woman smiled at her as she continued drinking the tea - I always knew Sparda was a born dominant - Eva remembered a strange little scene a few years ago when her children were outside the cabin, she could hear lustful noises in the basement and knew who was doing what - It doesn't really bother me, I don't know if it's normal for demons to do that either.
- Since demons go through a stage of intense heat, they must copulate for the heat to stop - Aringo looked at his porcelain cup - Since I was not going to help him, Targon offered himself as the subject of help and that is why those fools spend time together
The blonde-haired witch just let out a few laughs and continued drinking her tea while she listened to the demon continue talking.
Present
Deep in a dark room, a blonde woman with crimson eyes sits on the cold stone floor, her back against a stone wall. The woman is experiencing memories that don't belong to her, and she doesn't know why. She is aware that she was created to replicate Sparda's lover, but she doesn't know why she has those kinds of memories.
Far From There
There were three children observing the disaster that had been caused to the garden that once looked splendid with a great flora that was enviable, but was now destroyed and damaged.
- They were mom's favorite flowers - the boy in a red shirt with black suspenders looked in horror as the flowers that decorated the garden were destroyed - she will be sad
- Don't worry, Dante - The girl in the pastel purple dress looked at the boy Alvino and smiled - Something occurred to me
- What a crazy thing you have now, Tania - the older albino twin looked at the ebony girl with golden eyes as she took a necklace from around her neck which had a black pearl
- I'll do this Vergil - Tania pointed the black pearl at the destroyed flowers and they began to be surrounded by dark shadows which unnaturally caused the rapid growth of other identical flowers - done, problem solved
- Wow, your family heirloom is impressive. - Dante looked in amazement at the pearl attached to Tania's necklace. - It looks so strange.
- It's not as impressive as the gift dad gave us - Vergil holds with his free hand since the other was holding Yamato - This one is brighter than your pearl - The older albino looked at the girl who simply ignored him
Before further disaster could occur, the voices of two women were heard calling them into the cabin so they could enjoy the already prepared and freshly served meal.
In the Present
The young albino, who appears to be 18 years old and wears a red coat, lies in one of the many armchairs in his small business while he remembers one of the many fragments of his childhood. While he devours more slices of pizza.
- I should have assumed you were a demon, Tania - The albino tries to remember many things but can't. Sometimes small flashbacks of his childhood or the accident at the cabin come to him, but he can't fit the puzzle together properly with so many missing pieces.
Before the albino can continue wandering in his thoughts, he hears the sound of the phone. Someone is calling him, and he simply answers, recognizing the caller's number.
- Devil May Cry. What do you need? - Dante answers the call while listening to the next job he needs to do.
In Another Place
The high-ranking humans witness a humanoid rabbit enter and destroy the Vatican in order to steal an ancient sword.
Many are ignoring the situation, while others can't believe demons really exist. But the evidence is clear, and the rabbit himself has given them the clue. They must find all the demon hunters.
Makai
In the abandoned palace of the Demon King Mundus, sitting on a huge empty throne is a young demon with grayish wings and tentacle-like hair covering his pink eyes.
Mordu stares at the empty throne, the throne that once belonged to his older half-brother, the brother who tried to kill him over a thousand times, the deaths only ceasing when Aringo stepped in to keep him alive, keeping him in a safe nest, a nest that was his refuge until Aringo decided to rebel against Mundus and ended up in his refuge. He doesn't hate Aringo for abandoning him; he knows high-ranking demons don't care about anyone but themselves, but Aringo was different, she was the demon who wanted to take care of him and the only one who kept him happy.
- Are you still looking at that throne? - a young and bored voice was heard behind him. - You can throw it away or destroy it if it bothers you. - The voice of the eldest heir of Sparda sounded determined to comply with the opinion while looking at the young demon.
- Don't worry Vergil - Mordu looked with his eyes covered at the older twin who simply left where he was and headed to the library
After all of Makai found out that Mundus was imprisoned, the high-ranking Demons decided that there was no longer a real ruler of Makai and that each Elite Demon could have their own kingdom with low-class slaves. But Mordu never allowed the Elite Demons to approach the palace that Mundus once ruled, he doesn't care about Mundus, he will simply stay in the palace and kill those who want to infiltrate to destroy him. He let Vergil live with him in the palace because of Aringo's last words before sealing herself away while dragging Mundus himself.
- Hey - The older twin threw a book to the demon prince - This is new merchandise from the middle merchants
- thanks Vergil - the demon prince grabbed the book and looked at the cover - this is the continuation I've been looking for - Mordu jumped for joy as he headed to his secret room, the room that once belonged to Aringo and left the twin alone. He didn't feel sorry, he knows that Vergil likes to read his boring poetry in silence and he also knows that his own presence is extremely uncomfortable due to his resemblance to Mundus. He hates looking like Mundus, he hates looking like his older brother.
The young two meter tall winged demon walks through the halls of the castle they usurped - ~At the end of the rainbow, all is happiness~ - He observes the weapons and heads of all the enemies who faced Mundus - ~I fought to achieve~ - Mordu observes the empty rooms. Now he was the leader, but he refused to let a stranger in. He knows he is selfish, but also cowardly - ~My existence was running towards a place without end~ - He observes the torches lit with green fire that illuminate the corridor towards the room of his nest - ~Dreams that will always fail~ - He approaches the doorknob, trembling, presses it to move it and enters the room - ~Why is it that I always fail. Why does this happen to me?~ - He lies down on the blankets that still retain a bit of Aringo's scent and pretends that he can still hear him sing - ~Should I blame the world? Or should I blame myself?~ -Mordu settles on his back in his nest - ~I follow the rainbow, I see the clouds pass by~ - He looks at the ceiling where his new mural is painted and feels that Aringo would have liked it - ~My plans will be dreams, misfortunes will be~ - He finishes the song and cries in the nest. He believes that she will come to comfort him and sleeps with the hope that one day she will free her..
In the castle library, in that quiet and peaceful place, the eldest Sparde heir enjoys his newly acquired book. He tries to ignore the pitiful chants Mordu provokes in the halls. He doesn't hate the long-winged gray demon; he hates how that same demon refused to eliminate the elite and rule Makai with an iron fist.
A LONG TIME AGO
The girl with short black hair watches her opponent's movements closely - prepare to die - she lets out her war cry as she lunges at her opponent
- Don't scream or they'll hear us - The girl's attack is stopped by the Alvino in a dark blue shirt, who stopped it with his own wooden sword - Are we training or did you forget, blockhead?
- Vergil knows that Tania isn't, don't call her that - the younger twin watches as his brother continues to fight against the dark-haired, yellow-eyed girl
- Don't defend her, Dantes - the eldest responded to his younger brother while he took advantage of the instability in his opponent's strength and decided to strike with precision at the bottom of the sword's handle - I win
- grr - the girl with yellow eyes looked angrily at her opponent and without noticing that small sparks of purple energy came out of the tips of her fingers covering the tip of the sword - don't underestimate me - Tania rushed at Vergil, who was surprised how the sword abnormally took another shape and before the attack hit him, a figure of another person intervened - Father?! - The girl looked at the named in fear and surprise.
- You saw it. Sparda - The adult looked behind Dante where the named and his mother were - my daughter awaken part of my gift - The man with wild, dark brown hair looks again at the sword that returned to its wooden form when it was snatched from Tania - my chick, I'm so proud of you -
- We all saw it Targon - Aringo answers before anyone else speaks - I can't believe the first ability you awakened was Targon's - The woman with straight black hair looked at her with a dramatic expression of betrayal - I had faith that my abilities would come first
- I can't believe you hid to train in secret and almost got hurt - The blonde-haired witch scolded the children while maintaining her disappointed mother look - And I can't believe you're happy, that you don't see that Vergil could have gotten hurt - Eva looked at her husband who tried to hide his look of fear and sought help from his two closest companions.
- Please, dear Eva, don't get too angry - The Makai knight tries to calm his beloved and only wife - The chicks just wanted to play and test their skills. Tania didn't mean to hurt Vergil, she just acted on instinct, you know how chicks are, they are always naughty - The albino man looked nervously at his wife.
- Mother - Tania looked at the woman with crimson eyes - If Aunt Eva is done scolding us, we can have a snack. I'm hungry, and besides, you promised to give me chocolate cake - The girl seemed to take the situation for granted, as if she hadn't intended to awaken her parents' power.
Aringo simply apologized with a look at Eva. She struggles with education; she learned alone, and her discipline was survival. The demon simply sighed in defeat and walked toward the cabin where the snack awaited everyone.
No adult noticed the older twin's angry look. He's angry. As always, Tania overshadows his achievements. He was about to win fair and square, and that brat of those losers awakens a power she doesn't appreciate, that she ignores.
Castle Library
- The storm is coming, Tania, and you won't be able to overcome it. - Vergil looks at Yamato while he squeezes his hand where a dark dagger is located. - I will overcome you.
