Summary
Venice - 1755- there is a prisoner rotting away in the attic of the Piombi. The winter chill claws in through the cracks, the sun hides eternally behind steel and brick and, while the room looks lavish- it is still a cell. 'Inescapable' they say. He is doomed to stay forever.
Freedom is a crime and Aventurine is guilty.
But the thing about free spirits is- like the wind- they either roam untethered or die under the naive constraint of their captors. And Aventurine doesn't want to die.
