“Berry-yah! You're going to scare our new friends off!”
Chan quickly placates the brown-and-white dog by scooping her into his arms. Shutting the door behind him, he leads his guests into the hallway of his apartment.
Seungmin brushes himself off—probably to get rid of the fur sticking to his sweater, no thanks to Berry jumping him as soon as he walked in—chuckling as he does so. “It's alright, hyung. She probably smells Dandy all over me.” He walks closer to Chan with an arm extended. Berry sniffs it curiously before licking it. “Hyunjin's parking the car—he'll be up in a moment.”
He isn't uptight or stiff like Chan imagined, but rather laid-back and relaxed, with cozy clothes and round glasses. Like Berry, Seungmin's eyes are dark and endearing. Chan has an inkling that if the younger boy pouted, it would be over for everyone involved. His smile is bright—quite beautiful actually. Chan has never seen anyone rival his girlfriend in that regard, but Seungmin certainly comes close. “Jeongin was right—you really do look like a dog.”
“That's what I've been saying!” The slight Busan dialect catches Chan off guard; he wasn't expecting it from their maknae. He also didn't expect the fluffy ginger hair or smiley eyes. In spite of his sharp features, Jeongin is surprisingly cute. “You kind of have a doggish look yourself, hyung. Should I call you hyung?”
Chan carefully sets Berry back down on the floor, and she immediately runs toward the awkward (but adorable) boy. “Call me whatever you want, Jeongin-ah.”
If by “doggish,” Jeongin means “sluggish,” Chan has to agree. His day started out fine—great, even. He took Berry for a walk before class, breezed through his assignments, and even FaceTimed Sana. Then it all crashed in his face when his lack of sleep caught up with him. Hence: the prominent eye bags, the curly mess of hair on his head, and the sweats he hasn't bothered to change out of.
Neither boy seems to mind though. Seungmin, in fact, seems intrigued by the photos hanging in his hallway—pictures of his parents, siblings, Berry, his girlfriend—all people he cherishes. It always felt like something was missing from the collage: namely, friends.
Maybe that's about to change.
“You're dating Sana Minatozaki?”
Chan turns toward the sound of the familiar name. Seungmin is pointing to a photo—one of his favorites—from when he took Sana to Australia for the first time. “I am. You know her?”
“She works with Jisung and me,” Seungmin replies, eyes darting around the apartment before landing on Chan. “You look exactly how I imagined. Your place, too.”
Chan laughs. “I'm not quite sure how to take that.”
Jeongin giggles softly as he ruffles Berry's fur. (Who's allowing him to be so adorable?) "It's a compliment. Minnie's only friends with hot people. Count one,” he points at himself, “guilty.”
Seungmin cackles—sarcastically, Chan thinks—and looks at Jeongin with (feigned?) disgust, though Chan swears there's something like fondness in his eyes. “Not true! Have you seen yourself? It’s like I lose another year each time I'm forced to look at your ugly face—”
“Oh look, count two's arriving now!”
In walks Hyunjin and—wow.
“I was told there would be a dog?” are the first words that leave his mouth, and Chan's caught off guard by the sheer perfection pouring out of every pore of this man. He has long, dark hair that perfectly frames his perfect face. He's definitely mastered that indie painter vibe that people go feral for—he truly looks like an artist. A really, really gorgeous one.
Not in a romantic way, either. Chan's not the kind of guy to worship people; the innermost part of his brain wants to lecture his subconscious about how perceived perfection and idolization can be really damaging to the human psyche—but damn it if Hyunjin didn’t make him question his life's philosophy. All three of them, honestly.
Seungmin must've noticed the gobsmacked look on Chan's face because he chuckles, leaning to whisper in his ear. “Quite the eyesore, isn't he?”
“I— uh, I'm so sorry—”
Hyunjin doesn't seem fazed in the slightest. Instead, he seems quite enamored with Chan's heart-stealer of a dog. “It's alright hyung, I don't mind. It's a nice contrast to how these two—” he gestures to Seungmin and Jeongin “—treat me.”
The matching pouts on their faces give Chan the impression that they're quite the handful, and he tells Hyunjin just that.
Hyunjin giggles loudly before responding, “They are the bane of my existence.”

Changbin and Jisung had shown up mere minutes after Hyunjin's entrance.
One look at Jisung, and Chan could instantly tell he was a giant nerd. Like Seungmin, he wore glasses that only emphasized his big, boba eyes. His graphic tee featured a film Chan remembered watching when he was younger—Howl's Moving Castle, was it? Once Chan noticed the sweats the younger boy was wearing, he felt a little better about his own outfit.
“Holy ripped—” Hyunjin, surprised by his own outburst, slapped a hand over his mouth.
And damn, Hyunjin wasn't wrong, because when Chan's gaze shifted over to Changbin, the first thing he noticed was how strong he seemed. Not only his body, but his whole demeanor—tough, the kind of guy nobody would dare mess with.
Unfortunately, that illusion shattered the second Changbin laughed, because—how do you even describe a sound like that? It was silly, impossible not to grin at. His laugh only made Hyunjin and Jisung laugh, and Chan quickly learned the two of them were extremely loud.
Now—ten minutes later—Chan's standing in his doorway, absolutely dumbfounded. To be honest, he still hasn't recovered from earlier!
Why?
Because.
Every single one of them? Ridiculously hot.
Why is everyone hot?
Even though Jeongin swears on his life that he's only seen Hyunjin and Seungmin prior to today, Chan doesn't believe him for one second—because how else would he have known?
The gasp from beside him—Jisung, he thinks—tells Chan he's not alone in his thoughts.
From the way his hair fell in his face, to his piercing eyes, to even the way he holds himself; Minho is pretty. He has the kind of face Chan imagines he'd find in a museum—ethereal. Felix too, with his blonde hair and freckled cheeks, looks straight out of a painting.
“Do I have food on my face or something?” Felix asks, instinctively wiping his mouth with the sleeve of his sweater.
Six out of eight jaws drop. At once. At Felix's voice.
“Damn bro—”
“I was not expecting that—”
“Wait—are you on testosterone or—”
“—Yang Jeongin!”
Minho, amused, looks at Chan. “You get used to it.”

MinMinMin: You're insane, I hope you know that.
“Innie-yah, it's time to go home.”
Jeongin stirs from where he's tucked himself into the corner of the couch. His mouth tastes like phlegm—gross—and he feels disgusting. He hates falling asleep in warm clothes; he'll have to shower tonight—double gross.
He peers one eye open. Warm eyes... fluffy hair. Must be Seungmin. He reaches out instinctively to caress his cheek, but then his previously blurry vision clears, revealing Chan, so he pokes it instead.
“What did I miss?” He asks groggily, as memories from the evening pour in. He hadn't meant to fall asleep; he's not sure how he did, considering all the racket his friends seemed to be capable of, but he supposes pulling an all-nighter the night before wasn't the best idea.
“Just about the entirety of Chamber of Secrets, but we've seen that one, yeah?” Seungmin responds, helping Jeongin stand. “You didn't miss anything you didn't already know.”
Relief floods Jeongin once he knows he hasn't missed out. It wasn't much about missing the plot as it was missing the experience. He isn't sure how to explain it, but Seungmin knew.
It suddenly hits him that he fell asleep on Chan’s couch. All of the sleepiness that was weighing on him is gone now, replaced by guilt. “I'm so sorry, hyung.”
“You're fine, Iyen-ah,” Chan replies, chuckling lightly. “Really. I'm glad you were comfortable.”
Jeongin scrambles to grab his phone to check the time. It's way past midnight. “Did everyone else leave?”
It's at that moment that Jeongin registers Jisung's presence—and the lack of Hyunjin's.
“Hah. Funny story…”
