Summary
Julian is twenty-one, brilliant, bitter, and lost. When his girlfriend, Maisie, cheats on him with a Black coworker, the betrayal detonates something deep inside him: humiliation curdles into obsession. What begins as heartbreak becomes a descent into a strange, underground world where desire and degradation blur, and the boundaries between guilt, race, and masculinity collapse.
As Maisie spirals through her own awakenings and Julian sinks further into the online subculture that consumes him, both find themselves trapped in a feedback loop of lust, shame, and power. Set in the contemporary United States, Shadows of the BNWO is a slow-burn psychological drama about erotic fixation, identity, and the death of self in the age of the algorithm.
