Chapter Text

Sonic POV:

I,but known as Maurice, prince of Everglade, put on a buckle of my favorite cloak. It had navy blue fabric will gold lining with a white design underneath. It was warm and hid most of my body

"Looks like I'm ready," I said with a smile as I tied my black boots.

"Are you sure that sneaking out again is a good idea. A guard nearly caught you before I distracted him and when I tell you I am not doing that again," I could tell Tails was both irritated and worried for me to go out as he grabbed the rope I handed him.

Tails always worried when I did risky things. But he's gotten use to it but hasn't stopped trying to reason with this idea.

"I promise Tails, I'll be careful. You know I'm fast. Any way tonight a perfect night to go Parrywikle. The light festival happens every 10 years. I don't want to miss that," I stated as Tails rapped the rope to my bed frame.

About a couple of months ago, I started sneaking out of my room to visit close by villages behind my mother's back. Yes I felt guilty for doing it but I hated being inside with no where to run a feel free.

"But it's also dangerous," Tails worried.

"How else am I supposed to know my people. If I stay in the castle all my life how am I supposed to be a good king," I smiled

"I just want you to be careful, that all I'm asking," I came to hug Tails.

I know he worries but I just can't stay locked up in this place forever. I know one day I will become king but there is more to see and do. If I will be king I need to understand and help all of my people the best I can. If I stay in the castle I won't be able to do anything

"I promise," I could feel him hug back until I moved away.

I went to the window, and dropped the rope that was connected to my bed. It landed on a roof of another part of the castle that was closer to the floor.

I went the window and was about to slide down before waving at Tails. Tails hesitated and waved back before I continued to slide down.

I landed on the roof and jumped to a pole with his family flag on it. I swung and flipped of it and spin dashed to the other side of the wall. I went to the side of the wall where I had left a wooden plank. I grabbed it and placed it in the cross over where the river was separating the castle and the forest.

'I'm finally free!' I thought as he did a small happy dance.

I was out in the forest. I could feel the autumn air blow in my quills and the moon rising higher. It was amazing to feel like I had control of my life again.

After that I followed the lanterns that was lit. The town I think is about 6 miles away. It was no distance for me since I was there in matter of seconds.

 

Shadow POV:

"Come on hun, the light festival only happens every decade. I want you to have some fun for once," Rouge wined as she tugged on my arm.

She was begging for me to go with her the little festival tonight. Rouge knows I don't socialize with crowds.

"I already told you. No. I don't want to bring back a drunk tonight," Rouge frowned at me when I mentioned her drinking state.

"What if I needed your help," she batted her eyes.

"You can protect yourself," she rolled her eyes

She started walking towards the kitchen when she spark went in her eyes. I already know that she is plotting something I can't refuse.

"You know, the light festival is known for having the most dried foods. For instance cranberries and coffee beans," she caught my attention.

I don't like that many food and most of the time don't eat at all. But I love the taste of cranberries and coffee beans. Both the tartness of cranberries and the bitterness of coffee beans are just the best food discovered.

Now that I think about it, Rouge does have a friend that she visits for food. I bet she will be there and I guess it will be better to have another sane person nearby.

"What are you thinking handsome," Rouge flu to me smug. She knew she won.

"Fine, I'll stay for some time," I muttered regretting it immediately.

She grabbed my arm and started to fly me out of our house.

 

Hours later

(Still Shadow POV)

I been leaning against the wall for hours. I watch as mobians dance across the dance floor and kids lighting up sparklers while running around. Rouge of course was tipsy and flirting with some wolf.

I wasn't going to lie, tonight hasn't been bad but not the best either. I talked to Rouges friend for the first time and found out her name was Blaze. Blaze actually live a town over and came over to trade food with some folks in this town which Rouge was one of them. She was really proper and had manners witching respected.

I decided to leave where I was standing and left to the lone lantern on the edge of the dance floor. I looked at my new surroundings for a second until I glanced at an area and saw someone staring back. They looked like they were staring into my soul and then they made a subtle smile.

It was strange. I felt some instant connection with this small look. I started to zone out as they came towards me. For some odd reason, I got a gush of embarrassment so I looked away. I never thought I could get embarrassment from just a glance.

"Hello," they said softly.

I could feel their smile and made the decision to look back.

This guy was wearing a navy blue hood with some gold on the buckle. He seemed to be a blue hedgehog from what I'm guessing. He had a peach muzzle with emerald green eyes that looked beautiful. 'Wait beautiful? What are you thinking' I yelled in my head.

I slowly waved back at him,"hi."

"What your name?," he smiled as he talked once more.

"Why do you want to know my name stranger?" I said as I crossed my arm.

"Well judging by my good instincts, it feels like you're a good person. So I want to know your name the get to know you," he stated so easily.

I rolled my eyes in my head be replying,"It Shadow, what might your name be?"

"I'm Sonic......Anyway why are here and not out there," he pointed out to the crowd of mobians dancing.

"I don't dance," I said as I looked around.

"Well since you're alone over here I can keep you company," he said as he jumped on a crate near me.

If it was any other mobian I would tell them to leave me allow but for some odd reason something was keeping me from telling him that. It was an invisible force that kept me there it place.

Almost a hour past with me and Sonic talking and it was nice. He talked most of the time and telling me some events that happened in the past with his best friend, a two tailed fox. I told a little about me and Rouge. He seem interested in my life style and how a normal day would be like.

"So you're telling me you don't like going out?" he asked.

"I don't like socializing that much," I started.

"I barely get out. Like tonight I had to sneak out to see the lights. I stay so trapped all the time so things like talking to you are so wonderful," he looked up at the lights as he spoke. His eyes sparkled as he looked up. It was mesmerizing.

He looked back at me. He smiled as he began to get off the crate. He grabbed my hand and he started to drag me closer to the dance floor.

"What are you doing?" I asked as he continued to walk.

"Come dance with me, it'll be fun," he laughed as we entered the floor.

I sighed as I grabbed his hand. I can't back down as hard as tried cause we were already on the floor.

The song that was playing was a fast paced. I shook my head knowing most mobians didn't dance fast so I expected to him to be sloppy. But I was dead wrong. He move so fast but gracefully that it stunted me where I fumbled twice.

Me and Sonic danced the full song through. It was so much fun that it kind of shocked me. At the end of the song we posed as we panted from our performance. I stated to hear applauses from other around us.

"Looks like we made us a crowd," I stated which he laughed.

"I thought you said you don't dance, you were amazing," he said as new music came on.

"I never said I couldn't dance," I said as I grabbed his waist cause the next song was song and classy.

I could see that Sonic blushed at my movement. He put a hand on my shoulder as we glided across the dance floor. We were looking into each other's eyes as we dance. Once again his emerald eyes were gorgeous. The look so beautiful without words.

Me and him continue to dance slowly until bells started to ring. A big gust of light came across the sky as people started to cheer symbolizing that it was midnight.

"Looks like it's midnight," I stated.

"Wait! Midnight!" Sonic became frantic as he looked around.

"I have to go home," he started to move away but I held his hand keep him from going.

"Will I see you again?" I asked a little worried.

He then stopped panicking and took something from inside his cloak. I wast a gold bracelet with a red ribbon rapped around it.

"I feel like this won't be the last time I see you but until then keep this so you don't forget me soon," he put it on my wrist and smiled once more.

"I hope to see you again Shadow," he spoke and ran off.

I smiled. It felt like I hadn't smiled like that in forever.

Sonic POV:

I can't stop thinking about Shadow. Even though I snuck out before, this time I got to meet someone.

Shadow was so calm and collecting. He listened to me and actually gave his opinion of what he thought not because of my status. He was so nice and caring, and he smelled like lavender, and had a nice smile, and very good looking, and ho-

'Wait Sonic. What are you thinking. You just met the guy. You don't know him that well' I started hitting my head with my hand until I heard a knock on my door to see that Tails was standing in the frame.

"Did I just see you hitting your self in the head?" I chuckled as he walked up to me putting a hand on my head.

"I'm fine. Just hand to knock some sense into me. That's all," I pulled his hand away from my head.

"Alright if that what you say so," Tails started to walk to make my bed up, " Well I'm here to tell you that the Queen is waiting for you to join her for breakfast. She said that she has some news to tell you."

I walked my closet to change, "Alright, I'll be ready in 2 minutes."

Tails smiled, "I'll inform her that you'll be down soon."

"Thank you," I said as I got out my outfit for the morning.

 

Shadow POV:

I left the window I was looking out at and started to make my way to the bathroom. I took a shower and let the water hit my quills as I grabbed my soap bar.

I still can't stop thinking about Sonic. He reminds me of Maria. It goes from his cheerful attitude to the way he smiles. I know how Maria acted like such a child at times and would just talk forever just like how Sonic did. Sonic talked nonstop and was just so happy. But there was a difference between him and Maria. I never had a tingling feeling when talking to Maria. It was strange.

I got out of the shower and got some clothes on. As I went to the sink to wash my face I noticed from the mirror show someone coming from behind.

"Rouge, you know I can see you," I said as I heard a damn it from behind me.

"I don't understand how you can tell that someone behind you," she pouted.

"Maybe you need to get better," I said in a teasing her a little.

I heard a grunt behind me, "Well I got you some coffee beans last night, there in the kitchen."

She stared to walk to the kitchen as I soon followed. I grabbed the bag from the table as she went in the cupboard to get some bread.

We sat in silence until she started to say, "You know I didn't know you made a new friend last night."

I choked on the coffee beans before I responded, "I don't know what you're talking about."

She sighed and slammed the bread on the table, "Don't act dumb. Even though I was a little drunk I still saw you with some other mobian. You guys made bit a coward when dance."

"It was nothing," I looked down.

"Bull shit. I could see we're having a great time. You better admit it and when you do I want to know everything about this friend," she smiled as she waited for a response.

I sighed when I knew she would not stop bothering me until I told her, "Well it was mainly him talking about some things about his life and later on he convinced me to dance. It surprised me he was able to catch up with my speed of dancing in a tango. After that he soon left when it turned midnight. And that was it."

She started squealing, "You made a friend and possibly boyfriend."

"What do you mean by that?" I said as my face got hot.

"Well you barely talk to anyone. If he was able to talk to you without making you annoyed then he is just perfect for you," Rouge stated dancing as she celebrated.

She is so delusional.

 

Sonic POV:

I walked out my room and started to make my way to the dining room. I entered to see my mother sitting in the head chair. It's rare to see my mother in the morning to eat breakfast with me.

I didn't really like the dining room that much cause it brings to much memories. It would be me, Ma, Pa, Manic, and Sonia. We would all eat together in the room and joking around with each other. It was a nice memory to hold onto but is painful for them not to be here.

My mother talks to me occasionally for events or meetings with advisers. After the war my mother became depressed but still to the role of ruling the kingdom without a different spouse .

My father was such a great leader and kind hearted to all our subjects. He used to try his hardest to train me into the guy I am today while still being a great Pa. It devastated so many when the war ended.

My brother Manic was a goofball. He'd make anyone laugh in a matter of seconds. Ma didn't like it since it was improper but in the end she'd laugh too.

My sister Sonia was like a younger version of my mom. She was very formal and did make sure that the kingdom was well treated. Threw out days she would like to pick what outfits looked best on me.

I missed these small things that didn't matter to me back then. I just wish that I could hear another corny joke from my brother or advice from my sister of being proper. I would just love to feel my Pa rubbing the top of my head for good luck. I miss them so much.

I walked to the side of my mom and got in the seat beside her, "Good Morning Ma."

She smiled at me and nodded, "Good Morning son, how have you been."

"Good. I took care of the scrolls that you asked me to finished and went to the council meeting yesterday," I said as I picked my fork up.

"That's good to hear," she said.

We ate in silence for about 10 minutes until she spoke up, " Maurice, I have some news for you."

I looked her way ready for anything she needs to say, "Yes Ma."

"Very soon today we have guests from another kingdom are coming for a dinner and should be here very soon," she said as my tail started wagging.

"Really. There coming here today. Like actually," I was too excited that I stood up.

"Yes son. We will be discussed more of why later but I just wanted to inform you before hand," I start to squeal to my self as my mother smiled.

She got up from her chair and kissed my forehead, "Make sure to be ready before hand."

I giggled, "I will."

 

2 hours later

I put on my crown as I heard trumpets from my room which means they were here.

I rushed down but tried not to run to not ruin my robe that was on one of my shoulders. I went to the front steps of the palace. I saw my mom dressed up in a navy blue dress with hints of gold or the lining that matched her jewelry. I match my white attire and mask with my navy blue robe that had white cotton one the top.

A pink couch pulled up with a vines all over it that had a magenta color. The guard came in front of the carriage. Another guy came out the other side a pulled out a trumpet.

"I am proud to announce the royal family from the Rose kingdom." The guy started to announce the other,

"First we have the eldest child Princess Sally Acorn," a brown chipmunk walked out and looked about in her 20's . She had a turquoise dress that had a caramel lining with mini fabric leaves connected to it. She had blue eyes and a yellowish ring raped around them. She wore a silver tiara that was in her hair.

"The second oldest child PrincessAmelia Rose," another girl jumped out and she was a pink hedgehog that looked to be 17. She wore a pink dress that was lighter than her quills with a red lining that looked like thrones of a rose. She had green eyes but they were lighter than mine and had long eyelashes. She wore a rose gold tiara behind her head quills.

"The youngest child Princess Cream and her Chao Cheese," I'm guessing that this is the last princess. This girl was a cream and vanilla rabbit that looks about 11-13. She wore an orange dress that had yellow roses on the end. She had brown eyes with ring just like the oldest princess but they were orange instead. She wore a gold tiara on top of her hair.

"And finally his majesty, King Author," the last mobian step out. He was a yellow hedgehog that looked a little older than my Mother. He wore a red suit with the fabric shading to black. He had magenta eyes that looked misleading. He wore a gold crown with gemstones of his three daughter's gems from their tiaras.

"Greeting Royal Family from the Rose kingdom," my mother began talking as the Rose family walked to us.

"It is my pleasure to be here Queen Alena. Daughters, present yourself," King Author commanded.

The three princess courtesy to me and ma, "Your highnesses."

They stood back up. I look at my mom and she gave me a nod. I went to the princesses and lifted my mask to my muzzle to kissed each of their hands.

"Thank you for coming princesses and King Author," I bowed as I spoke.

When I looked back up I could see the King nod. The youngest smiled, the middle blushed like crazy, and the oldest tried to hide her face.

Did I do something wrong. I know we don't get that much princesses her but was I bad. My etiquette teacher said I am very formal.

"Maurice, can you take the princess to your quarters while me and the King talk," My mother asked.

"Yes mother," I answered and turned to the princesses, "follow me princesses."

The princesses began to follow me to my room.

 

Hours later

Me and the princesses were laughing.

"Sonic, I never knew you can be so childish," Sally said as she helped me up from the ground.

"Don't blame me for falling over an invisible object," I stated as we all continued to laugh.

"I never knew you call a book an invisible object," Amy stated as she got off my bed.

Cream then came to my defense, "Don't blame Sonic. He just letting his guard down. We are all mobian aren't we."

"Thanks Cream," I smiled from under my mask.

As I dusting myself of I heard a knock on my door. I told the princesses to wait and went to the door.

I opened the door to see Tails, "Hey bud, do you need us?"

"Your mother and the King would like for you and the princesses to come to the dining room for dinner," I looked towards window to see the sunset.

I didn't know how much time had passed, "Ok, I'll get the princess."

I went over to the princesses and told them what Tails told me, so we all got up and started walking with Tails.

As we continued walking I noticed that Cream and Tails were talking while Cheese started to lay on Tails head. Tails was blushing and Cream was smiling , they look so cute together.

As we got to the dining room we said our goodbyes to Tails and went in to see our parents on both end of the tables.

He was sitting in my father's seat. I felt my eyes start to water but I stopped myself before anyone noticed. I could see that mom noticed to but she kept her face neutral.

We all sat down and the cooks began to serve our meal. We all began to eat which had a weird atmosphere. It was like the King was eyeing my ever moving and holding back on some force.

As most of us began to finish up the King began to cough to get our attention. He looked at my mother and she began to speak.

"Today the Rose family is here to make a deal with us. At first we had some mobians from both kingdoms trying to start a war. We now have made a decision to stop this problem once and for all," my mother stated but after that she couldn't look me in the eye which was odd.

Then King Author spoke, "We have come to the conclusion to have our kingdom come to one. By doing so Prince Maurice will marry one of my daughters to bring us together into one unison."

Chapter Text

Sonic POV:

My heart quickened as the words slipped out.

"I beg your pardon. I didn't catch what you said," I asked hoping that I heard wrong.

"You will wed one of the princesses to combine our families," mom stated.

I started to sweat and tapping my leg which got faster and faster. The rest of the dinner was complete silenced with only sounds of crickets. My head kept pounding hits on me making my vision go blurry. My head was practically spinning but all I could do was wait till dinner was over and to be excused. I felt like days had passed sitting there but it was only an hour.

I couldn't take this tension, "Mother, may I be excused?"

I could see she was about to tell me to sit back down but then she looked at me. She could see I needed some air

She sighed, "You may."

I didn't wait a second more until I walked out the door. I started to walk to my room and when I got there I realized I was panting.

I saw Tails was in there putting some books away, "Sonic? Why are you back from dinner so soon?"

 

Tails POV:

Sonic look distressed and panicked. He started pasting around the room mumbling to himself.
I've known Sonic most of my life and I knew he only mumbled to himself if a big event happened.

When I was young maybe when I was 4 I was found by Sonic after my village was burned to the ground. I was lost in the woods when Sonic found me. He took me in but soon after the Robotnik war began, he then lost his father and siblings. He was mumbling for almost a full week even on his sleep, having nightmares almost every night.

I went up to him and grabbed his shoulder, "Sonic are you okay?"

He didn't even look at me, "N-no, no. I can't think well right now."

"What happened?" I tried to keep my voice low to soothe him a little to calm him down.

"Ma is forcing me to marry someone I just met," I was token aback.

I never knew that the Queen would go so low to making Sonic marry someone not because of love.

All of a sudden Sonic ran into the closet and came out with his blue cloak from when he leaves the castle.

"Sonic please don't tell me you're leaving," I asked hoping that he just wants to wear it for comfort.

Sonic only looked back, "Tails, I need to get out of this place it's suffocating me. I just need a little air from this whole situation."

Sonic got the rope and went to tie the end of it to the bed already. I sighed as I took the rope from him and tied it myself.

He looked up at me confused, "Why aren't you telling me to not go?"

I sighed,"Because I can see that you need some of this 'freedom' to get your mind in the right place. All I ask is that you keep yourself safe and hidden."

I felt a tight hug from behind me, "Thank you Miles."

I hugged back and we stayed like that for a minute until he let go and made his way to the balcony.

"I'll be safe," he said, "You better be," I replied and he went down the rope.

 

1 hour later

Shadow POV:

I was in the market walking past some stalls. Rouge had asked me to run some errands for her even though she can do it herself. I got the food she asked for and wine that she begged me to get.

As I was walking back to the house I could hear a bang from the ally up ahead. I would usually ignore most things out of the ordinary but I was pretty bored. Nothing has really happened today so I was curious.

I went to the ally and saw only a black cat that knocked over some glass. I went to it and petted it.

"What are you doing here?" I said as the cat purred.

When I stopped it up to my shoes and moved around them. It walked away from me and looked at me. It wanted me to follow it. I started to follow it to near the outside of my village. It went close to a tree and I saw a body there. I had a feeling that this was going to lead to trouble but I went with it.

I got close to the figure and saw it shaking. I went to it immediately in time because it was beginning to collapse.

I caught the mobian in time before it hit the ground, "Are you ok?"

As I looked down and I saw a familiar cloak, "Sonic?"

He looked up and it was Sonic.

"Sonic! What happened to you," I asked a little worried.

As I looked into his eyes I could see only panic.
He was shaking as I held his arms and he was breathing fast.

He was having a panic attack.

"Th-h-ey ar-a-e go-ing t-to fi-nd m-m-me," he said stuttering.

His eyes started to go unfocused and he breathed faster that before. Before I could say anything he went to unconsciousness.

I didn't know what to do about this. Sonic was clearly stressed over something big. At that moment I heard guards from the palace was coming down with scrolls. Is that who Sonic is running from?

I was confused but I need to focus. I picked Sonic up in my arm, bridal style, and covered his face with his cloak hood to keep him hidden. I started to go the opposite way from the guards and made my way back to my house. I couldn't open the door so I had to knock knowing that Rouge would be upset with me waking her up. I could hear her run downstairs and opened the door.

I could be exaggerating but I think I could see steam come out her ears, "DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND. BEAUTY.SLEEP.IS MANDATORY!"

I pushed her in the house because of how much attention she was dawning to us. I closed the door with my foot and began to take Sonic to the sofa.

"What the hell Shadow!" I saw Rouge get off the ground and walk towards me and Sonic.

Her eyes widened as she looked at Sonic, "I can explain everything after you settle down."

As soon as I said that we heard a loud bang on the door, "Royal Guards. Open the door!"

Me and Rouge looked at each other. I sighed and made the decision to answer the door. I opened the door to see 3 guards standing side by side.

"May I help you," I tried to sound like my normal tone like if I was talking to others in the village.

"We have a hedgehog that has gone missing this night. He is a blue male, height 3.3, and has peach skin,"
they were talking about Sonic.

They were after Sonic. Did Sonic do something wrong? Was he dangerous? Is he crazy? Are me and Rouge safe?

I had to many questions. I was considering turning Sonic in until I thought about what happened the other night. I don't think Sonic would be someone to do anything bad even though I only knew the guy for one night. The way he talked was so honest and cheerful. The way he was innocent about things that came to mind.

"No sir. Tonight I have not seen the guy you've say of," I made the decision to ask Sonic about this whole ordeal and who he is.

" Thank you sir for your knowledge. Have a good night," the guys walked away and I sighed.

I made my way back to Rouge and Sonic. She had lifted his hood and was checking his breath with her ears on his chest.

She stood back up and went to my side, "He seem to have a fever. His head is burning up."

"Alright," I went to his side and sat in front of him.

Rouge went to the kitchen and I could hear her pumping water from the sink. She came up to me and put a wet rag on Sonic's head.

The silence was cut off when Rouge began talking, "What happened?"

I didn't really know other than when I found him, "I found him near some trees close to outside of Parrywikle. When I got to him, he'd seem to be having a panic attack. All he said was about being found and the guards that was at the door was looking for him."

"Is he some kind of thief or killer," I could see Rouge getting goosebumps.

"I don't think so. The other night he acted normal," I sigh until Rouge stood up.

"This the guy that swept you off your feet," she got excited.

I grunted, "He did not sweep me off my feet."

"Oh course he did. And he is now staying with us until he gets better," Rouge put her hands on her hips.

"But-," she cut me off.

"No buts. A friend of you is a friend of mine," she stated.

I only smiled.

 

2 day later

Sonic POV:

I felt a ring go through my ear. My head was cold and hot at the same time. I began to open my eyes to find myself in an unknown room. I sat up and something wet fell from my head.

The last thing I could remember running out of the palace when I heard someone yell. Soon there were guards lowering the gate to get to me. I was running and I started to think that my mother would keep me locked in forever once I get caught. I was faster so I was able to get away. As I slowed down next to a tree my heart started to hurt like crazy. I was breathing heavy and saw a black cat next to me until I felt gravity hit me. I fell into someone's arms before I hit the ground. I looked up to see my vision becoming blurry. The last thing I saw was red eyes until I blackout.

"Sonic?!" I heard a deep and familiar voice.

I looked towards the voice in the doorway, "Shadow."

He came up to me and touched my hand, "Are you ok?"

He sounded like he was worried. I put a hand over my head, "I feel dizzy."

I heard another set of foot steps in the distance. Soon enough a bat lady with white fur and teal eyes walked in.
She all of a sudden started squealing and ran up to me pushing Shadow away.

"You're finally up and I can't finally talk to you. My name is Rouge by the way," this lady seems really happy even though I have never met her before.

"My name is Sonic," I tried observe her by body language.

My dad said you can tell a person motives by tone of voice and body language.

She was very curvy and had express herself as knowing she attractive. She wore a long sleeved dress and had a belt around her waist that gave her figure. She had a slit in her dress that was long to her feet. She wore makeup and had earrings that were gold that was matching her necklace.

I snapped out of my observance of her when she began to talk, "So I heard you and Shadow met during the light festival a couple of days ago. I need to know everything!"

"A couple of days! How long have I been asleep?!" I asked panicked about not returning home in days.

Shadow got up from where he's been pushed away, "I found you near this town about 2 days ago. You been sleep since."

I started to think hard about what my mother thought. Does she think I'm dead or kidnapped. How is the princesses? Is Tails sick of worrying about me being gone?

I stood up immediately, "I have to go."

Before I went off someone grabbed my arm,
"Wait there hedgehog, you need to answer some questions."

"I really need to go back. I have.... Umm.... Stuff to do," I can't tell him I'm a prince, that would mess up things in ways I can't explain.

"What 'stuff' are you talking about. Just tell me so I have some context," Shadow crossed his arms.

I had to come up with something quick. I started to feel really hot like I was standing in the sun. The bat noticed this and went to touch my forehead.

"He's overheating. I'll get you some water." Rouge stood and left and it kind of made me feel better since I didn't really know her.

I looked back at Shadow and he was staring at me and I knew he was just waiting for a reply.

I opened my mouth and let my mouth do what ever it needs to, "Well I work at the palace,"
Half truth half lie.

"You me you work for the royal family?" He looked the same but his voice told otherwise.

"Y-yeah, I work aside the prince. I am his usual always by his side, that is why I need to go," I took Tails spot kind of pretending that I was him and he was me.

"But why were you so anxious when I found you?" Man, why this question.

I looked around and saw the bat was bringing me a cup of water. It was made of wood which I wasn't used to see. Most ones I saw were made from gold or glass.

"Here you go hun," she handed me the cup and smiled.

She seemed very nice but her voice is very seductive. I smiled back and took a sip of the water. I then realized how dry my throat was.

Shadow is to keep questioning me about this so might as well find a believable story, "I was trying to get away from some guard. He thought I was trespassing and called more guards to go after me. At that moment I just ran cause there was nothing else I could do."

Shadow nodded and at the look of it he believed me. I looked at the sky from the window next to me to see that it was morning.

"Shadow I really have to go. I might have consequences if I don't go back now," I looked at him in his eyes.

He looked concerned but nodded. Rouge then went to my side, "I'll show you out but when you get back to the castle hun tell them that you have a fever. Make sure to take care of yourself. Either way I need you alive because you're the only other mobian I know that Shadow can tolerate."

She laughed and Shadow growled at her. Shadow helped me and Rouge and him walked to the door.

"Walk down that street and you'll find your way back," Shadow pointed.

I nodded and I wanted to hug him but I didn't, "I hope I can bump into you again soon. Bye."

And I walked away with Shadow and Rouge watching me leave.

Chapter Text

Sonic POV:

I was finally back in my domain. I could see barely nothing had changed in my room except my bed being made.

I started to make my way to my dressing room to get one of my white suits, my everyday crown, and my mask.

At this moment I didn't know what to do first. I can try to find Tails so he doesn't worry or go to Ma so I can the scolding over with.

I didn't get to make a decision because Tails walked in as soon as I walked in. He closed the door and turned around to see me standing there.

"Sonic!" He smiled and ran to me.

He leaped onto me, hugging my while making me fall on my back. He was squeezing me to the point I couldn't breathe well.

"C-ca-nt B-br-eathe," I said and soon I felt his grip loosen.

He finally let go and looked at my hands while helping me up, "Sorry, it's just I was so worried. You were supposed to just be gone one night. The guards sheared fo-."

Tails pause mid sentence when he looked at me in the eyes. His ears lower and he took got close to my face. I was confused of what was going on but I just let him do what he wanted.

He put hand on my head and then I felt myself being shaken, "Sonic! Do you have a fever? How did this happen? What happened? What will the Queen say?"

"Can you s-top sh-shaking me first, my head is getting dizzy," as soon as I said that Tails started apologizing.

"Sorry," he stopped shaking me, "You need to sit down. I'll get a medic."

Tails brought me to my bed and sat me down, "Thank you Tails but I need to ask you for a favor."

Tails looked at me awaiting my answer, "Can you tell me what has happened the time I've been gone?"

His ears lower, "Well the night that you left I heard guards chasing after you so I flu to them and told them to inform the Queen to buy you some time. I thought you would come later on in the night but to no avail. The Queen made all the guards go on a search around near by villages. The Rose Royal Family left sending the regards to the search. They were about to head to another kingdom later on today. Your Mother was devastated on the first day a stayed in her room not going to any meetings. I got to talk to her yesterday and I was mainly the only one talking. The only time I saw her talk was later on last night with some hedgehog. That brings you up until now I guess."

My ear lowered to. Now I want to see my mother's face, "Thanks for telling me bud. But now I must leave to see Ma. I don't want her to worry. Do you know what area she is in?"

Tails nodded, "She's in the library."

"Thank you," I hugged him and then let go, "I'll speak to you later. I just need to see her."

He only nodded again and I went out the room. I made my way down when I bumped into someone. He was a black hedgehog that looked almost exactly like Shadow but had blue stripes and a light muzzle.

"My apologies," I said and continued walking trying to get to my destination.

I finally arrived at the library and opened the door and made my way to the bottom floor where Ma usually be. My father's books of astronomy was there and she loved looking at his side notes on the tips of the paper.

To my luck I saw her looking at one of my father's books while sitting in her chair.

"Ma," I quietly approached and she slowly looked up at me.

Tears started welling up in her eyes and I ran to hug her as she stood up. As we hugged I could feel her shake and crying softly.

We pulled away and I looked at her in the face, "I thought I lost you. Do you know how worried I was. What happened to you? Where did you go? Why did you wait so long to come back?"

She started to rub my back quills what she always did to calm herself down. And to be honest it relaxes me.

"Ma, I'm sorry. I needed some air and just had to go for a run so I left. Mostly I remember passing out under a tree and some villagers-"

"You WHAT!!! You went where? And you- oh dear your feverish," my mother felt my head with her hand.

To be honest I was kind of hot but I don't think it's that much of a big deal. I've gotten sick multiple times during the war so now it never affects me in a way.

My mother started to yell for a server to come and soon a girl came in with two other males.

"My son has returned but has a fever. I would like you to escort him to his chambers and would like you two to make a public announcement to call off the search," they all nodded and before the girl took me away my mother gave me a kiss on my forehead.

"I'll come to check on you and have a physician be by your side at all times. I need to talk to some counselors and advisers for something I will tell you later," before I said anything else my mother began to walk another way as the girl was taking me to my room.

 

(New POV)
 
Mephiles POV

"Your majesty you need to get him locked in the castle and strict lesson before anything happens. The prince will soon be future king but we can't have him with common folk out of control," one of the advisers said as the rest of the room argued.

It was giving me a migraine. Why was I even here?

I know that I am going to get paid but this royal business is not my cup of tea. I rather just meet the brat and get what needs to be done.

"ENOUGH!" the queen yelled which got the room silent.

"I am the Queen and you are the advisors. You need to advise me on a plan that everyone can agree," the Queen is a really respectfully mobian I give her that. She is a born leader and can put things in an equally order way that keeps the kingdom standing.

Now I feel a little bad of what's going to happen soon but gold is gold I guess.

The room went silent. I can use this as an opportunity for me to go out with my plan.

"*cough*" the Queen looked at me waiting me to continue, "Well my Queen. I believe that some type of figure or supervisor should be around the prince and watch him just to see how far he is along of being a prince. That can decide on how far his maternally he is."

The room started to agree on my suggestion until the Queen stopped them from talking, "I will go along with this idea and go on with this but who should be willing to do that."

"I will you majesty. It was my plan and I intend to go on with it," this is to easy.

"I guess you can. I will need a weekly dose of information of his progress." I only nodded.

"Now that is settled we shall introduce him to you tomorrow once we know he is better," I nodded once more, "I will see to it tomorrow you majesty.

We ended the meeting and I walked away feeling one step closer to my plan.

Those 100 pounds of gold is mine.

Mephiles POV:

 

I started to make my way to the prince's room.
Today I will properly meet him and finally start something.

My goal is to get close to him so I can use him in the way I was paid to do. I have dark power that I can use which no one knows about. It is a unique technique that I have always had for centuries (yes I am older than you think). For the power I need to use in order to control the prince I need him to trust me or at least feel at ease with me in a way.

I stopped at the door to his room when I saw the Queen in front waiting for me I guess, "My Queen."

"Good morning Mephiles, I am sure that you rest well," I nodded, "you remember what you assignment is."

I only nodded again.

The Queen smiled a little and then knocked on the door. We could hear feet walking towards the door and by the sound of it, it was the fox boy.

He was the prince's assistant I believe but to what I've noticed is him and the prince were close which was kind of a problem. If I'm going to complete my instructions I need to keep that boy far away from the prince.

The door opened and the fox went to the side,  "Good morning your highness. I see you've bought someone."

The Queen nodded, "Indeed. I need my son to meet him. Where is he?"

Then we all saw as the prince walked up to us,  "Good morning Ma and hello."

He held out a hand to me very formally and I shook it. He wore a mask that had a cream color to it with a gold outline.

Whenever I saw him when he was sick he didn't have the mask. Most likely because the mask made it hot to breathe.

"Son, this is Mephiles the Dark. You will be seeing him more often here and there. He's your new supervisor."

His ears lower but he nodded, "Yes Mother."

The Queen smiled and then left me in the room with the two.

"So......What are you suppose to be doing," the fox asked.

"Well the Queen and her advisers think that the prince is irresponsible and needed to act of his status. After your leaving of the castle grounds all the advisers turned sides to dislike you in a way. The we're going to him in a gruesome training but I suggest having a supervisor so he can prove himself worthy for the throne. Since it was my idea the Queen chose me to be the supervisor."

I could see that the prince's ears went up, "Thank you for helping me out there."

I nodded, "Your welcome your majesty and-"

"Don't do the 'your majesty' thing. Just talk to me as Sonic. I trust that you have good intentions if you understand to see good in others," he stated as he began to step forward.

I could hear by his tone of voice that he is already warming up to me, "Alright Prince Sonic."

He gave a light chuckle but as soon as that was gone he turned away with his ears lowered and began to walk the other way.

I walked with him to the balcony. He rested against the wood boarder. His quills was absorbed the sun and making them glimmer. To be honest he quite a site to see. He's not my type but quite attractive to others.

"Are you alright Prince Sonic?" He looked my way and just sighed.

"I know I just met you and you might tell my mom....Buttttt can you keep a secret," he held out his pinky finger.

This was so childish but I need him to trust me so I locked fingers with him.

He smiled, "Well the night I snuck out wasn't my first night sneaking out," he stated to play with his hands, "but the night before I went missing there was a light festival. Don't you know? The one that happens every decade."

I nodded, "Well I went to go see it and it was one of the best nights of my life. It was so beautiful there and the music was better than any ball I went to. And then..."

Sonic's face and ears went red, "I met another hedgehog there. We talked for hours and even danced. They were so sweet and calmed. I left when it was midnight and came back here."

"The next day was when I got upset with the whole engagement. I ran away and I went unconscious later that night. I woke up and found out that the mobian the other day had been taking care of me. After maybe an hour I went back to the castle and you probably know the rest," he looked back out at the towns in the distance.

 

Sonic POV:

I stopped talking to let Mephlies take in my information.

"It must be ruff having all these responsibilities," I looked up to see him looking at the towns ahead.

It was weird to someone thinking about my life. My life was fine I guess. Yeah there's tons of things I have to do but it's for my people and family.

"Yeah but I can handle it," I laughed a little.

"Do you miss the other mobian you met?" He asked.

"You could say I miss talking to him with no worry in the world," I do like talking to Shadow.

"What if I say I can make that happen," my ears went up with that, "What do you mean?"

"I can help you see your little friend again," he swing his arms behind his back, "I can cover for you and help you get to the town but I have my conditions."

"What are they?" I fiddle with my shirt.

"I will have to be around you at all times when you're in the castle and you need not ask questions when I am away," now I have so many questions but I stopped and closed my mouth.

"So do we have a deal," If I accept this I can go out and see Shadow again.

I made my decision, "deal"

 

5 hours later

Shadow POV:

I had nothing to do today other than restock the milk. Rouge is out for a week so I didn't have someone to annoy me. I might not show it but I like her company.

*knock, knock, knock*

I looked up. I don't think that I was supposed to see anyone today.

I went to the door and opened it, "Hi Shads!"

It was Sonic, "What are you doing here. I thought I wasn't supposed to see you in a while."

I opened the door to let him in, "Me too. The Queen was very hard to negotiate with but it was all worth it."

I hate to admit it but I actually think I'm starting to like his company. His voice was so bubbly and energetic. It was like he was a child in an adult body.

"Looks like I'm stuck with you for today," I smiled.

"I know. Isn't exciting," he exclaimed as we headed to the living room.

1 Month later

Narrator POV:

For the last month Sonic and Mephiles had stayed loyal to their deal with Sonic going out to see Shadow again a couple of times a week while Mephiles stayed by Sonic's side. Sonic and Shadow's relationship got stronger each day as they continued to know one another but there relationship wasn't the only one that grew. Sonic had Mephiles grown to be comfortable with him which made Tails a little jealous (he's his best friend). Everything has been going great until an unexpected mobian gets caught in the mix.

People might not remember him in the past but he is slowly getting stronger by each day. He is a slime green hedgehog with ice for in the eyes and heart.

Shadow POV:

This pass week has been very slow. I've only been at the house majority of the time trying to take care of Rouge.

This cold season affects Rouge to be very lazy. I would try to keep her warm the best I can and making her food that would help.

This happens every winter cause I'm not fully hedgehog and don't require the sleep and can face the cold. It is a very long story of my past that I prefer to not talk about.

"Shadow~!!!" Rouge yelled from the other room, "can you be a doll and get me my fancy blanket upstairs. The gold one."

I made my way upstairs and came back to her side with it, "why do you gotta be so needy?"

She grabbed the blanket from my arms, "you choose to handle me didn't you."

I sat down on a cushion next to her near the fire place watching it dance as if it was alive.

Rouge leaned on me and yawned, "what the matter handsome are you tried of me."

I sighed and didn't say anything.

"Or is it that blu isn't here to entertain you~" I looked at her and she began to laugh.

"I guess it has gotten quiet. It's been a week since I've seen him," Rouge got up from leaning on me and took my hand.

"You should visit him," I looked at her in shock.

"What the heck do you mean. He lives in a palace. He seriously would be impossible to go in with the amount of guards," I rubbed my head.

"Sure it will be but if you think about you know you have the skills to do in. The Shadow I knew from years ago would be able to handle it like it was a small task. You can easily do it no problem," I hated how she brought up that but she has a point.

Handling those guards would be easy. I was trained that way.

"It wouldn't hurt to try," she shrugged, "anyway I would just be sleeping or reading most of the day.  I don't want to bore you."

"Sigh... fine. I guess," I stood up from where I was, "do you want anything for when I come back?"

"Green grapes. Thanks darling," she waved.

I grabbed my cloak and boots and walked outside. Snow had taken over most of the street so it might take longer to get there. I locked my front door and began to walk.

 

In the palace

Sonic POV:

"Sonic I'm going to go and work on some of the extra chores since most of the palace workers are sleeping. I'll talk to you later," Tails said and started to make his way towards the door.

"Bye bud," I said. I waved and he left.

I was rapped up in a huge comforter and had big cushions that surrounded me. It was the first week of snow and I bet the whole kingdom was trying to stay warm.

I usually just ignore the cold and just wear a couple of extra layers but this time I was forced by Tails to rest. He never got into this hibernation thing and usually helped out with the humans with a few others.

I felt like I was being useless in bed. I could be doing something. Anything at this point. I got up from the hundreds of layers Tails put on me in.

At least I won't be in bed.

I walked to my closet and took out a big wool cloak that would keep me warm for a while.

I want to see outside. Even though outside is the worst thing to do right now I love to see snow. It always looked so beautiful especially on plants.

I went to my balcony and leaned against it. I could see the moon and stars but the clouds were close to covering it. Very little was in the streets of the close by villages. Every thin was quiet and I could hear the wind.

It was ticking my ears and nose. It was so nice.

Then all of a sudden I felt a hand covering my eyes, "guess who~!"

I recognized that voice. But it can't be, "Shadow!"

He turned me around and smiled, "Hello Sonic. Mind telling me why you're outside," he then lifted my arm, "and why are you wearing this expensive wool?"

I didn't know how to react. I was happy and angry at him, "Shadow what in Gia's name are you doing here. You need to leave!"

I could see he had frustration by the way he let go of me, "why do I need to? I came to see you and after how much I needed to sneak around to see you. I just wanted to see you."

I dragged him inside and closed my door. I turn to face him, "I didn't ask you to come. do you know how much trouble I and you could get in!"

"Well sorry if you didn't want to see me. I'll leave if that is what you want," he grunted and faced away from me.

"That's not what I mean at all. I want you to stay," I grabbed his hand.

Then I heard a knock on the door, " sire, may I come in."

I panicked I push shadow towards my bed and puss him under it, "just stay here for a minute."

"Give me a second!" I yelled at the door and got my mask off of my dresser.

I placed it on my face. I walked to the door and saw one of the staff humans, "would you like to inform me of something?"

"I heard some noise and just wanted to check on you your majesty," she said and bowed while doing so.

"No, I was just talking to myself," I said and she faced me, "you could do what you were usually were doing."

"Of course Prince Ogilvie," she bowed and walked away.

(Side note I just found out his first name is Ogilvie not Maurice. Ok let's get back to the book).

I could feel my heart rushing and I close the door and slide down it while taking off my mask.

"You're a prince!" I looked up and saw Shadow standing in front of me.

I could nearly feel my body stiffen. He was looking like he was about to explode.

"That's why you act so crazy with the time of day and why you prefer to not go in the streets without something to cover your face. Why would you lie to me!" He grunted, "I trusted everything you told me and you don't trust me. Were you just using me as some way of entertainment. Were you just bored of being in a palace and to have everything already given to you!"

He started to back away but kept eye contact. I ran and grabbed his hand. I don't want him to leave.

"No! Not at all. I've just needed to get out is all. But one night that I met you. You were not some way of entertainment. I really liked spending time with you," I could feel hot tears come down my face, "I trust you so much that you don't understand. I lied to you so you wouldn't see me as some prince, only as Sonic. I don't get to meet much mobians other than the ones I am forced to but I got to meet you. A kind and caring, so sweet hedgehog that swept me off my feet. You're not just anyone, YOUR THE ONE I LOVE!" I let go of his hand and covered my mouth.

"You love me," I looked up to meet his gaze.

"Yes." I looked down. I don't want to look at him like that.

I've never have done this whole thing before. I never thought I would actually love someone like this. There was a difference between my love for ma and Tails and the one I feel right now. I feel cold but hot at the same time. My ears burn and legs feels like they are about to tremble.

"Hey look at me," he gently lifted my muzzle and I looked at him.

He rapped a hand around my waist pulling me closer while rubbing my cheek, "I love you too."

"Y-you do," I stuttered.

"Yes I do," then all of a sudden I feel smooth lips on mine.

I closed my eyes. I felt as my whole body heat up and everything that was cold in my body wash away. His lips were so gentle on mine and so sweet. He pulled me even closer and I didn't resist. I was loving his touch.

We pushed back at the same time once we ran out of air. We looked at each other only until I went back for another kiss.

I was craving for him so much that I had no control of myself. He gently lifted me and carried me to my bed. He had his hands run through my quills; his touch was so gentle that it was like I was being touched by feathers.

He sat down on the bed and had me on his lap while continuing the kiss. I had my arms around his neck and he held me down by my waist.

We parted and looked at each other, "you wanted to kiss me this bad didn't you." He laughed to himself and I felt my cheeks getting redder.

"Oh shut up," I said pressing my chest on his, "you know you wanted to."

He sighed and glazed his hand to my muzzle, "yes. I do admit that this was a thought. You have such a nice figure with this body of curves and your beautiful eyes and smile. How could I resist you."

I could feel my face get hot with the compliments, "you not so bad looking yourself."

He then pulled me in for another kiss but this time it was more passionate. He licked my lips asking for entrance and I gladly accepted. We fought over dominance but he won.

Then he hit some part of my mouth that was so sensitive and I moaned. I pulled back almost immediately.

 

Shadow POV:

I heard a soft moan come from Sonic and he pulled away.

"Looks like I found someone's sweet spot~" he bended down and covered his face.

"Aw Sonic. It's completely normal for this to happen. If you don't like me doing this I can stop," I don't want to make Sonic feel uncomfortable. I just want him to be content.

"No..... I liked i-it. I've never exactly done that before," he mumbled but I could hear it, "is there any other ways to kiss."

He looked up at me but his face was as red as my strips, "yes, there is I can show you them if you want."

"Yes please," he mumbled again.

"Close your eyes," he did as I said.

I went down to his body and kissed his neck. I tried not giving any hickeys so it wouldn't be noticeable.

He made another soft moan which made my body feel exited. I started to do it in different places but tried not to make Sonic too uncomfortable.

(To just say after re-reading this, they were only neck kisses. Carry on 😓).

"Shads~" he quietly moan in almost a whisper.

I love hearing him make those noises. It was music to my ears.

"Your majesty?" we both heard a knock on his door from the outside, "Hello?"

"Mephiles!" Sonic pushed me down on his bed.

"Who?" I questioned.

"He's my supervisor," he lifted his hands off my chest.

"He's probably going to stay here for a while so you should go," he said which made me sad.

 

Sonic POV:

I didn't want him to leave but the consequences he would have would be deadly.

"I'm sorry Shads," I said as I got up from him.

"When will the next time I'll see you," I looked at him and he looked disappointed.

"I'll be the one to see you but I don't know when,"
He gave me a nod and started to make his way to the balcony.

But before he could leave I pulled him back and gave him a kiss, "I love you."

He smiled, "I love you too, love," he kissed me on the forehead and went to the balcony.

My face heated up. Did he just call me love. I really like that name.

Wait, how will he get down but soon I saw. He was jumping from roof top to roof top. How did he know how to do that.

"Your highness, are you sleeping," I focused back into what the problem at hand.

I rushed to the door and grabbed my mask off the floor, "sorry about the wait Mephiles. I was in my closet looking for something warmer to wear."

"There is no need to apologize. Say you look stress. Is there anything wrong?" Yes that you interpreted something, "no not at all."

"Well your mother have requested some exercises to help you with ways to calm down when you become king," this was odd for my mother to request anything during the winter but I guess I should do it.

I have nothing better to do, "oh course."

We walked towards to a cushion in the front of my bed.

 

Mephiles POV:

 

"Now. Prince Sonic. Pay attention to the sound of my voice and keep making eye contact with me,"
He listened not breaking eye contact.

To be honest the prince would make a good king. He is a good listener and strong leader. He does well with studies and good and combat when training. If I wasn't being paid as much, I would not mind joining this kingdom. It was well organized.

"Now repeat what I say," I started to use my magic to trick his mind. His pupils started to change size and his ears stopped moving.

I now had built his trust enough for him to follow my rule. Part of my power is to use hypnosis to trick people and mobians to obey what I say. I used to use this to use others I got close to and then just take everything they have.

"I will obey Mephiles," I said for great measure to see if he was really in a trance.

"I will obey Mephiles," he said slowly.

This meant that I can't finally start what I wanted to do a while ago.

 

30 minutes later

"Do you understand," I said finishing of my request.

"Yes. Mephiles," as soon as he said that I had stopped my spell.

He closed his eyes and feel forward automatically which I caught. Most others usually do this there first time.

I picked him up and laid him in his bed. He'll most likely be sleep till the morning.

I left the room and headed out. Out of the palace and out of the kingdom.

I soon arrived at a hidden village in a forest long past the kingdom. I made my way to a cabin full of rogues and criminals. I walked past them and met with the one who was paying me.

"Hey there crystal hog," Scourge said with a smile.

"The plan is being put in motion," I said to him.

"Good. Sooner or later I will become king baby,"  he laughed to himself.

"Sir. May I ask a question?" He grunted cause I interrupted his little cheer.

"What mouthless," I hated when he called me.

"Why do you want to do this. You've said before that you served them before for years and by the way I see the guards being paid, you would make tons of money. Why are you trying to get rid of the Queen and prince? They organize their kingdom the best out of all the other ones I've ever seen," this hedgehog didn't make any sense.

"First of all having a kingdom is way better than serving one. Second, what is better than getting one of the biggest kingdoms in the world," he said while walking towards me.

"You answered only half of my question. Why do we have to murder those mobians. I am fine with kill mobians and people that do not deserve life but they have good qualities. Especially the prince," I turned my arm into tentacles and made a replica of prince Sonic, "he would be great use for you in some way and the mother too."

I made another replica of the Queen. Scourge started walking around them circling them as if had a plan in mind.

"You know this gives me an idea," he went towards the Sonic replica and grabbed his face.

"You know. This prince is a nice sight to see. Am I right!" He had turn the replica to the pack of  criminals and they all started to growl lustful at it.

"You know if I'm going to be king I'm going to need some type of entertainment. Right," he grabbed the replica's hips, "this body can actually be use to me. Right"

"Yes, sir," I said while grunting under my tongue.

I might have been trying to spare the two cause they deserve to live but if the prince lived in a world like that he surely would rather choose death.

Most likely Scourge being the bastard he is would most likely use the Queen as bate to the prince so he would obey.

Chapter Text

Shadow POV:

I walked out of my room feeling like I had just ran through snow. The sun had risen and than means that I should wake up.

I walked downstairs and into the kitchen. I pulled out some coffee beans and started eating. I was about to get some bread for Rouge when I felt eyes on me.

I picked up the 4 day old baguette and swig it but not to hit someone.

"Oh come on. I didn't make a single mistake this time," Rouge flu down and slapped my arm, "why can't you let your guard down just once."

I rolled my eyes and continued to carry on with my morning.

"Sooooo, handsome," I knew I couldn't get out of a conversation, "can you tell me again about what happened weeks ago?"

"Why must you be this nosy about something that happened a while ago?" I had told Rouge about what happened a week after I had visited him.

I gave her all the details except about the whole 'Prince' situation. I had asked her if I did okay cause she is experienced you could put it. She said it was a good start for me and Sonic. But since then she has continued to talk about it and bug me to the point of ripping off my ears.

"It's just I never thought you would've ever find someone. I thought I would've been your only time of love," she smirked.

"Come on now. We don't need to bring that up," I grumbled.

Yes, my first time of intercourse was with Rouge.
We were both young and it was during the war. One night I had gotten drunk and she got hot. It had happened and since then she never left. We became friends you could say after that.

"Sure mister grump," she laughed.

All of a sudden we heard a knock on our door. We looked at each other in confusion. During this time no one would be outside their house other than for a few stores.

"This is the royal guards! Please report to the town square immediately!" They said from outside.

"Do you think this is necessary?" Rouge asked me.

"Even if it is necessary we should still go. It was an order anyway," I said and started to make my way to my room.

We both put on some layers before walking outside. I had to give Rouge some of my layers cause she was more cold than me.

It took about 10 minutes for us to the square and then we saw that most of Parrywinkle was here. It was basically everyone here.

Trumpet was being played and someone walked to the well in the center of the square, " Good morning everyone. Today I have news from the Queen of Everglade. This year the winter ball will be held in this kingdom. And everyone is invited."

 

Sonic POV:

 

I was in my room thinking about what news I had just received.

This year we're holding the winter ball. I haven't been in a ball since I was 10. I used to go to them all the time with my siblings. We used to steal desserts from the adult section because they had fancy chocolate which we all loved.

Ma and Pa would be so social with the world and would usually help with other kingdoms in hosting.

We stopped the balls for 6 years during the war and then we stopped going to them all together.

I heard a knock on my door and I told whoever to come in, "hello Prince Sonic. I heard about the news about the ball. Are you excited."

"Oh hi Mephiles! I am excited. I haven't been to a ball in years! I love socializing. It's probably because of the whole locked up for years situation," I said as I started to walk towards him.

"That's understandable. But why do you think that you would be going to one after all these years. Don't you find that suspicious," he had a good point.

It is strange that this came out of the blue, "maybe she just is opening up more. She might be changing for the better."

"If you say so your majesty," I wanted to believe this was a good thing that my mother was changing.

This can only end well.

Right?

Narrator POV:

For the next week the whole kingdom was preparing for the winter ball. Every corner you could see the colors of the kingdom's blue velvet and gold. Every baker in each town gathered up their best dishes and every carpenter made decor for each town.

But the center piece of everything was the palace. It looked like it had came out of a fairy tale. The lights shined bright and everything sparkled.

Tonight is now the opening night of where the kingdoms of all over the world will come together in the biggest kingdom of all.

The true question is what will happen in one single night.

Shadow POV:

I was walking up the road of people and mobians chatting up a storm.

This ball was supposedly was a big deal. I only saw it as a ball with fancy others that judge your every move.

Rouge is holding on to my arm as if I was a pillow, "aren't you excited. I finally don't have to travel for one of these things."

"I don't see why you like stuff like this," I could feel her roll her eyes.

"Oh please. I prefer parties and festivals than this. The only reason why I go to balls is to fine a rich man and later on get a few rings for my troubles," she waved her hands in the air while she talked.

She was wearing a fur white coat and her dress was a red velvet dress that had a huge slit the went up to her mid thigh. I was wearing a black pants and a long sleeve white shirt. I had a vest that was a navy blue with a scarf that was tied down with a pin with a stone on.

"But tonight I have some entertainment. I bet you and blue will she each other tonight."

"I doubt it," the thing she doesn't know is that the blue she knew was a prince. He wouldn't probably even see me from this crowd.

"Don't lose hope handsome," she said in a smile, "you don't have to be negative all the time."

 

1 hour later

I was alone in a big ball room with no one. Rouge had gone away towards the some guard in the post where the next level was for rich people and mobians are.

The guy was a red echidna which was surprising. I thought they had gone extinct. During the war the echidnas was invaded and was majority killed off. Looks like they didn't get each one.

Another thing that was odd is that she was flirting with him but it wasn't seducing as she did with most others.

I got up and went to a server who was giving out drinks. By the glass it was most likely champagne. I started to walk around and observed my surroundings. Everyone was either dancing or talking.

I could see the difference between everyone. By the way others dressed you could tell where and which kingdom they came from.

I only knew about 5 of the kingdoms by their clothes. The rest was random.

The music started to quiet down and so did everyone else.

 

Sonic POV:

"Good evening everyone who could come. I am proud to welcome all kingdoms for coming. Everglade is happy that we can join into back of what we used to do," every one started clapping.

I could feel myself starting to get nervous. I was excited at first but now I started to realize that everyone would have their eyes on me.

I looked over at my mom and she smiled, "it'll be okay son. I can tell you're nervous. You're going to do great."

I nodded at my mother. I lifted my mask and gave her a kiss on her muzzle, "thank you ma."

I lowered my mask back and turned to the front. We weren't in sight of the ballroom but was soon about to be, "and it is my pleasure to announce our Queen Alena Ariana the Hedgehog."

My mother walked out and everyone cheered, "and the prince that has not been seen but ended the war, our future king, Prince Ogilvie Maurice the Hedgehog."

I walked out and everyone gasped. I was staring to get more nervous until I heard cheering and clapping. I calmed down once the tension lowers.

Me and my mother waved as the music started to turn back on.

I started to make my way down to the floor my mother said we were supposed to be. It had royalty from different kingdoms.

They all looked at me like I was in a territory that I didn't belong to. My mother walked to another side full of kings and queens and she looked like an expert talking to them.

I tried to get close to the others but they avoided me.

All of sudden I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Princess Sally, "Princess Sally, it's nice to see you again."

I bent down to kiss her hand. I looked up to see her flustered, "It's nice to see you too your majesty."

She curtsied, "I'm glad that I have someone that I recognize here instead of being judge by others."

Sally nodded, "what do you expect. You're going to be king one day so you need to get used to it."

"I guess you're right. But it is hard to get in a conversation with any one," I said bluntly.

"Well some others don't think that your, you know, weird," I was taken aback.

"What do you mean?"

"Well your kingdom from others outside it think that it's odd that you and your mother stopped socializing and how you wear a mask. No one does that in the royal families. Many think that you are ugly, cursed or crazy," I felt even more judged now.

Do they really think of me like that.

"There was so many rumors about your family. There was one that you were mean and everyone hated you that you didn't leave your castle. Another one was that you just are freaky and weird. And there was one about how the king was still alive and so was your siblings, and their the reason why you never left was to hide your secrets to gain fame for it. I never really believed in that nonsense."

My heart dropped as I started to look around and saw others looking me and Sally and whispering. Were they talking about me?

"Are you okay?" Sally asked but I started to leave. I couldn't let myself be judged by others types of royalty.

I need to go somewhere away from them. I looked down to see different people and mobians that weren't so fancy. I made my way to the steps until someone stopped me.

"What are you doing?" I turned to see Sally holding my arm.

"I'm going down to the common folk," she looked at me with such surprise.

"Why would you do that. No one at our class goes down there," why?

"It's not like I will die down there. We are allowed to go so what's the problem," I stated.

"Cause no one does it."

"Well I'll be the one to change that," I removed her grip and walked down the steps.

I went down two flights of stairs which everyone watched but I didn't care. At least I'm away from those other royals.

As I walked down to the dance floor mobians and people parted ways for me to walk. There was a lot of gasping which by now I'm used to.

I was at the center of the ballroom floor and the chatter stopped. Why does this have to be so awkward.

I looked around and then saw the music director. They were playing the fancy music I was used to. When I was learning how to formally dance this was normal music I would hear. But this time I want something more lively.

I walked towards him and gently tapped him,"Hate to bother you but can we play some more happy music. Like the ones you host in festivals."

"Oh course your majesty," he said and held a hand for the music to begin.

Now this what I'm talking about. I went back to the dance floor. I looked around to see others shocked but still nervous to dance. I guess I need to change that.

I went toward a group, grabbed one of the mobians' and pulled her to the dance floor. She was a purple cat wearing a black dress and she has a gem on her head.

"Come and dance. I know you wanna," I could see she was nervous.

"You don't have to be scared to talk to me," I said grabbing her hand, "now show us your moves."

She started dancing and I joined in. She started to smile which made me happy, "Your a good dancer your majesty."

"Thank you," I smiled even though she couldn't see it, "what's your name."

"Blaze," she said.

"That's a lovely name," she blushed.

I looked around to still not see anyone else on the dance floor. I started going around and grabbing some others to the floor. I think things are starting to light up because everyone started to dance we me.

I felt more happy down here than from up there. I could see the other royals up on their level of floors just looking down as if I had just made an explosive.

But I didn't care I was having a blast. The music was much better, everyone is warming up to me, and I am making a less intimidating version of my family.

It can't get better than this.

 

Shadows POV:

He was beautiful. His moves was so graceful and elegant just like the night I met him. I couldn't see his face but I knew he was smiling.

The ball started to get less standard and more unique to others. I could see how the royals above were either discussed or intrigued.

On the other hand I could see now that Sonic was going to be a great leader. He had the character and communicate well to his kingdom. He is just amazing.

But if he will be king there is low chance of us.

I look around and realize that I was actually getting closer to the dance floor. What am I doing?

Before I was able to turned around I felt myself being pulled. I looked up to see Sonic.

"I don't wanna seem crazy but I think I know you," Sonic laughed, "you look like a certain hedgehog I know that eats coffee beans."

"Your majesty, I have no intention to dance," I said shrugging him off.

Then the same song me and Sonic danced to the night we met played. He stepped away from me and offered his hand, "Would you dance with me. Let's dance the night away."

Why does this guy have to be this lovely.

I sighed and grabbed his hand, "try to keep up."

We then started to dance our way just like we did months ago. It had the same acceleration as before. He was quick to my jesters and I was able to keep up with his speed.

As we ended I felt out of breath. I looked at him a it seemed he was too. I stared at him for a minute observing him. He was dressed in all white that went well with his golden mask and crown. At this moment I felt like he was glowing from the moon light. His quills sparkled and made me have a slight flashback to Maria.

Maria had glowing blue eyes and used to wear blue and white everywhere.

I was loss looking at Sonic and I know deep down he was too. We didn't stop until we heard cheers come from all over us.

Me and Sonic looked around. People and mobians were clapping, even the royals and wealthy.

I looked back at Sonic and he did the same. We both stepped away and bowed to each other.

"It was a pleasure to dance with you," I said.

"It well indeed," before I could leave he touched my shoulder, "go to the palace garden in 10
minutes and check your pockets."

I nodded and walked away. Once I got out of the spot light, I dug into my pockets and took out a gold key.

 

Mephiles POV:

I would have never thought that Prince Sonic could dance like that. He is truly royalty.

I have been watching him all night. Instead of being with his kind he chose to be with the commoners. At first most of them were too nervous to dare be near him but he lightened up the whole situation by being himself. He didn't care of the looks from the royals. At one point his mother almost sent guards to take him away but she held back.

And I knew why.

I remember the time before the war when King Jules used to go to balls. I was indeed present to witness his performance of making the ball more lively. He had a way with bringing the life to anything. Now this a scenario of like father like son. Sonic was almost an exact replica of Jules.

He was made to be a good King.

I was walking around on the second floor and lost  sight of the prince. I started to look around but he was no where in the ballroom.

He must be outside then in the garden. I started to make my way outside. It was a peaceful night with not that much noise except from inside the ballroom.

I looked around searching around notice a familiar figure. I went behind some bushes and tried to get a closer look.

Wait! Is that Shadow!?

I heard some footsteps and ducked down.

"I'm glad you came out here. Sorry that it took longer than it should," that was the prince's voice.

I looked up and saw him hug Shadow.

What is going on. When did Shadow get to know the prince? Why is he in this kingdom? How is he still alive? I thought Ivo killed him.

I was so confused from this new information but I needed more intel of what the hell is going on.

"You were amazing out there," Shadow stated.

"Thank you. You were great too," the prince replied.

Silence consumed them in a matter of seconds.

"Can I see your face while I'm talking to you. I don't like how I can't see your eyes," he asked.

Sonic started to look around, "not here. Even if we're alone now that won't stay for longer. Follow me, I think I know a place with less privacy."

They started to move quickly. I got up as quietly and quickly as I could. I stocked to the shadows of trees and blend in perfectly.

The prince and Shadow had went to a wall, "can you climb well?"

"Oh course."

They began to climb up a stone wall. It looked very old. Went up on the other side and climbed from there. They went through a window on the top and closed the door.

Why must stalking be so difficult.

I turned into my liquid form and slid the best I could without them noticing. You are a true man Mephiles. I hid behind a bookshelf that was way too dusty.

 

Shadow POV:

"What is this place?" I looked around where I was standing. It had a bunch of books, drawings, and a big telescope. Sonic took off his mask and signed.

"This used to be me and my siblings star room (that's what we used to call it). I fell in love with the stars when I was little. My siblings found out and asked my parents to build this for our birthday. I got to teach them about different consolations and they started to like them too," Sonic went over to a self and took out a book and started flipping through the pages. He pointed at some writing on the side of them.

"We studied stars and made accusations and theories about them. I remember on time Manic made a story that the stars were actually wishes that would come true if we reached high enough for them. Me and Sonia didn't believe him but he did make an effort. One of the time he climbed to the top of the palace to be as high he could. My dad had to get him down by bribing him with chocolate cake (which was our favorite)," I saw Sonic giggle at his story.

He looked so beautiful when he laughed. His smile was so warm and cute.

His smile started to disappear, "those were great times I bet."

"They were. I haven't been up here in 2 years. The last time I was I couldn't handle it. My mother closed off the way to get in from the inside then. It bought back too many memories," his voice started to quiet.

I went behind him and hugged him, "thank you for sharing such precious memories to me."

He hugged my arm and nodded, "Shadow....I wanna talk to you about something."

"Go ahead," I said reassuringly.

"How do you think we can work. I really, really like you but I don't know what we're going to do. In the future I'm supposed to become King but I don't wanna stop seeing you. I just can't lose you now. After everything we've been through," his voice started to get shaky as so as his body.

"Sonic. The truth is, I don't know. I do want to continue seeing you but it's not my choice. It's whatever you want to do. It doesn't matter if you choose me or your kingdom. I want you to know that I do indeed have feelings for you but I don't want you to do this for myself. I wish only for your happiness," Sonic turned around and stared at me.

His eyes were shining as if they were real emeralds. They were gorgeous. This made me feel butterflies in my stomach. It was getting faster and faster as if they were attacking my stomach.

Sonic kept opening his mouth but then closed it, "I-I think I n-need some time to think."

I chuckled a little, "I am very patient. Just know that I only want you content."

I pulled him in for a hug and he squeezed back. I looked down to see Sonic nuzzling me which I didn't complain. I could smell him and he smelt like lemons and strawberries. It was so sweet.

"Shadow?" I looked down and his face was not looking at me, "can you kiss me?"

 

Sonic POV:

The room went quiet which made me nervous. Why did I ask that?! Was it a bad time to ask something or-

All of a sudden I was pulled back and I felt lips on mine. It felt just as good as it did last time. He was so light but very passionate. I closed my eyes and I could feel myself yearning for him again and it made me have flutters in my heart. I could feel myself yearning for him, my tail wagging fast which didn't stop.

We separated and I looked into his eyes. They were like rubies that stared at me. They were beautiful.

"Do you want to continue this," I nodded and he gave me another kiss and it kept getting better each time.

 

Mephiles POV:

So this is  Sonic's friend. I could hear their whole conversation and might I say Shadow is making bold moves.

The two made out for about 10 minutes and from that i could tell from Shadow's dominance Sonic would be a bottom if ever been in bed. I also learned that he is a virgin by how new he was when kissing.

(Side note: in the future Sonic will lose his virginity in another chapter. Not in this one)

I watch them leave and I returned into the ballroom. By the conversation they had before it showed that they love each other. But I already know how this will end.

And it won't be pretty for either of them.

Chapter Text

Mephiles POV:

 

I started walking out of Prince Sonic's room and started to make my way to leave the palace. I opened the door and felt the wind hit my face.

The snow cleared up a little more from the other day which made it easier to get out without being noticed.

I made my way into the woods and found the hidden village. The village was still busy with crooks around each corner even though it was still winter. It was either people buying stolen treasures or foods that were illegal to eat.

I passed each store with the smell of fresh blood and raw meat. I was kind of used to this. Throughout all my years of living I always had blood close by.

I took out a letter in my quills and reread it to figure out where I was supposed to go. Scourge wanted me to meet up with him at a bar. He said he had a 'surprise' to show me whatever that means.

I walk towards the bar I was supposed to be entering called Leaf Gas. I walked in and realized why it was called that. Almost everyone in here was smoking. I can handle blood but I hate the smell of tobacco. It's just unpleasant.

As I hung my coat on the rack near the front door I felt an arm rap around my shoulder, "Mephiles. My main man in the palace. How'd you do."

I pushed him off of me annoyed, "don't ever think about touching me ever again. We are not close like that."

"Calm down old man," Scourge waved his hands in the air, "don't have to do all that especially if I'm the one paying you. Follow me, I have someone for you to meet or show I say some people."

I followed Scourge to another room of the bar. I entered to see another hedgehog and a chameleon. The hedgehog had a whitish silverish fur and golden eyes, he also wore a lot of black leather from head to toe. The chameleon's main color was magenta with also gold eyes, he wore brown leather and from underneath his cloak he could tell he held tons of weapons. From the way their clothes were worn, they were from the rose kingdom.

I walked over to the mini bar that Scourge sat at and sat beside him.

"Give me a beer and one for the old man too," Scourge gestured to the bartender in front of us.

The two beers slid towards us, I caught it, and took a long swig.

After a moment of silence Scourge began to speak, "alright everyone, you guys must be wondering why I bought y'all here today out of the blue. But I have good reason. First of all, Mephiles this is my two new hires, Silver the Hedgehog and Espio the Chameleon. Boys this is Mephiles. Both of y'all want something out of me. Mephiles wants gold and you two want your friend safe and sound. I can solve both of these problems. All y'all gotta do is work together to get me what I want."

Before I could speak up about this sudden change in plans the white hedgehog stood up, "Scourge, before you continue about this plan I need you to show me if she's alright. I don't want to be making any illegal deals without seeing the truth."

"I agree with Silver. I would appreciate to know if our friend is safe. We don't trust you enough to be making any agreements with you," the chameleon added as he took out a blade.

"Relax~For guys who is attracted to other guys I thought you would be more nice to a fellow handsome man as myself. Your gal is safe on my word. She will be treated well if you follow my demands," Scourge waved his hand off as telling them to calm down, "back to the topic after I was so rudely interrupted."

Scourge grabs a bag from under his feet and hands us bottles of different liquids. they were all different color and was not properly labeled. "What is this?" I asked as I held up one of them.

"Let's take it from the top. I want to become King and take over the kingdom. Later on during the middle of summer it is the prince's birthday. According to royal guidelines it states that near that time the Ruler of that time needs to past the crown to someone which is usually the next royal of the age of 21. Near that time Mephiles can do what he does best and make the prince give me his status. I then will be King but I want more. Much more from the prince. From the past information I received by you I gather the knowledge that our little prince has never had straight up sex before so I must be his first. Taking his virginity away from him would be even better than fucking him 1000 times," I cringe as he said those words. It sounded so disgusting to image that happening to the prince.

"As much as that hurt to hear from you what do you want us to do with these," Silver had taken the words out of my mouth.

"Well if you didn't know, the prince would most likely need to feel how it feels to be in such heat. When I get with him, I'm going to need a way to make him feel a way while in bed. I need him to feel the same amount pleasure as I do which makes it 10 times better. So..."

He is so sick, "you want us to get him intoxicated!"

"Exactly. Your mind is finally starting to work old man," Scourge said, "I got mister purple and white to start working in the castle tomorrow. I already have mister old in there to deal with the prince. All I need you to do is try out these to see which one has the effect I want. And once you find it leave him by himself. I want to be the one to handle him when the time comes."

I looked back at the bottles. I can't believe want I'm about to do but I have no excuse to not stop.

"Now that y'all are up to speed we can begin your mission. And if you succeed you'll get what you want in return."

 

With Sonic:

Shadow POV:

"You know. I like that you smell like lavender," Sonic said while styling with my quills, "it reminds me of a flower field I went through during my time in the feather kingdom."

"I've never heard of you talk about another kingdom before," I could feel Sonic's hands stiffen, "did I say something wrong?"

"No. I just didn't realize that I had mentioned another kingdom. The memory of it just hit me in the face that's all," he finished with whatever he was doing and came to sit in front of me with a mirror, "do you like it?"

Sonic had added white laces and two gold chains to my quills and tied up my upper quills to make them lay in a ponytail. There was a some snow that had fallen from the tree above us.

"I love it," I said as I continue to look at myself.

"What are you two pretty boys doing," I looked over to see Rouge at the back door, "I can't believe you have the ability to stay outside in this cold weather. Are y'all cuddling to stay warm."

I groaned and Sonic giggled, "Rouge, did you come here to bother us or are you here for something."

Rouge walked towards us in a big fur coat, "I won't stay for long. I have a hot date with an echidna I met a the winter ball in about a hour. I was just going to tell you that I was going to make my way out in like 10 minutes."

"Really. I hope you have a good time Rouge," Sonic smiled.

"I feel bad for your date," I scoffed.

"Shads don't be so mean. This will probably go well for you Rouge," Rouge smiled at Sonic's positively.

Rouge walked over to us and gave a kiss on Sonic's forehead, "Thanks for encouragement hun."

For another 5 minutes Rouge and Sonic continued to talk until she left. When she left a silence took over us but it wasn't that bad. I could feel the cold breeze blow as it hit the back of my head and could hear Sonic lightly breathing.

"Shadow," I looked over towards Sonic so he knew about me having his attention, "I thought about what you said at the ball. I think that we should remain as friends."

I got sat up to Sonic's eye level so I can see him properly. He was starting to tear up, "Sonic I-"

"I'm so sorry Shadow. I don't want to hurt your feelings. I really do like you a lot and I mean a lot. Like I would cut off my arm for you. Like I would-"

"Sonic you-"

I was cut off by him, "Let me finish. I just don't want things to get too serious between us and then later on have to end things like they were nothing."

"Sonic-"

"I don't wan't you to feel sad if I end things in the future after all of that wasted time together."

"Sonic-"

"I do indeed love you to the bitter end but I don't want you getting hurt and-"

"SONIC! IT'S OK!" I grabbed Sonic hand and felt him shaking, "it is ok Sonic. Breathe, I am fine with your decision."

"You a-re," Sonic looked up to face me.

"Yes, I am. Sonic, remember I told you that you had the choice to choose. I don't care what choice it was, as long as I am apart of your life. I only wish for your happinesses and nothing more. I love you and I know you would make the best decision for the both of us. And you're right. It is best that we don't take it any further. I don't want to hurt you either with the pain of a secret like this," I pull Sonic into a hug and I could feel his shaking go down.

We stayed there and let each other happy that we were here. I stroked Sonic's quills back and he began to purr, "are you purring?"

"Oh shut up," I could hear Sonic groan as he buried his head into my neck.

I chuckled a little as I continue to stoke his quills. After a couple of seconds I felt Sonic go further down my neck and onto my chest. I could feel small little breathes on my chest fur. Is he sleeping?

I looked down to see him sleeping one my chest and curling up even more than before. I saw the way he was positioned and the way his tail and quills curved inwards. He hibernating. Hedgehogs tend to burry and dig into the ground for warmth.

Sonic once told me that he doesn't usually hibernate as most mobian hedgehogs do. He told me from in the past during the war he would have to constantly be awake and aware at all times so he never had time to hibernate. He said he had always kept his guard up since then.

So does that means he's letting his gaud down for me. Does he trust me that enough to do that. I felt a gush of pride fill my stomach. He trust me enough to protect him while he's hibernating.

I lowered my face to him and kissed his forehead. I would do anything for this hedgehog. As long as I'm here Sonic won't feel any pain.

I picked him up and carried him into the house when he began shaking from the cold. I lit the fire in the living room and grabbed the biggest blankets from my room to rap me and Sonic. After that I climbed into the mountain of pillows I had made for Sonic and hugged him for extra warmth.

 

With Mephiles Silver and Espio

Mephiles POV:

 

I was walking out of the bar I was in with my two new guys I'm supposed to be working with. The walk back to the palace was quiet which I didn't mind.

The white one then open his mouth, "So, how is the prince like. Is he what like the rumors are told?"

"Which rumors are you talking about? There are many theories about this prince," I stated bluntly.

"Well from our kingdom they say that the prince was snobby and stayed in the castle just so he could stay away from mobians like us. I used to believe them but that was until the winter ball. People had came back telling us that the prince was dancing with commoner instead of his own kind," this guy continue to talk about the multiple stories he heard of. It was giving me a headache.

I stopped from walking a turned to face the guy eye to eye, "will you stop talking to much. To add on what you were saying, the prince is an excellent example of a good guy. He cares for the needy and shows off remarkable amounts of respect. He is nearly the clone of the past king before him."

The white hedgehog looks at me with his mouth open. I could see that the chameleon had rolled his eyes of the others reaction, "Silver stop overreacting. It not our business to even be in the prince's life."

"But don't you find it crazy that this guy went off script of all the rumors we heard before. It's sad that we have to work for Mr. Ego of kings for him just to hurt the prince in ways I can't even imagine," he said and held a hand to his heart.

"Well that's life for ya," I said and continued walking.

On the way back I heard constant talking of the white hedgehog. I answered his question quick when I had the chance We arrived at the palace and I got us in. As I started to show them the service area I heard a question that hit me, "if he is a good prince in your book, why are you working to get him off the throne?"

I stayed quiet from that question for a minute. Why was I doing this again. At first it was for gold for a reward but I don't really need it at my position I was placed in. I also do agree that the prince does deserve to be King one day so why was I stopping him.

I took a breath and looked at the hedgehog behind me, "I am too far to back down now. If I stop I won't get anything but guilt," I pointed towards the double doors at the end of the hall, "the servants quarters at down there. you will be helping out with the food delivery so here."

I handed the bag Scourge gave me to the purple chameleon. I didn't give the white one time to say anything before walking away.

As I made my way toward the library I heard my name being called. I looked around to see the fox that is usually with the prince, "Mephiles, Hi! Do you know where Sonic is. I need to talk to him about something important."

I lied and told him that he was taking a walk outside. He nodded and left me alone. I went to the prince's room a wait for his return as time went by.

Chapter Text

Silver POV:

"You may come in," I walked into the prince's headquarters for the first time.

This past two weeks Espio would be the one to bring the food but I asked him if we could switch today. It gets way to boring just to stay in one area all day.

I walked to what looked like the best place to set food at. This room was huge. It practically is the size of Espio's, Blaze's, and my room combined. Everything was maroon and cream from the door way to the prince's bed with a few royal blue things around. There was tons of gold things in here like the chandelier, the brims of bed and so much more.

"Would you want anything else your majesty?" I said and bowed as I looked at him.

He was wearing cream clothes that looked very comfortable. He also wore a white mask as well that covered his full face. So it was true that he kept his mask on 24/7.

"I only have one requests," he stood up and walked towards me, "can you tell me your name? I don't recognize you."

I was taken a back with this sudden interest, "you want to know m-m-my name?"

He nodded, "I tend to memorize most people in the castle. I believe that it's better to recognize mobians and people and address them properly. To add on, since you're bringing my food today I would probably see you again. Oh that reminds me, I need to know that chameleon's name too since he's been coming more often too."

I tilted my head, "You mean Espio?"

"So his name is Espio. Unique name. You two know each other?" I could feel the prince's curiosity growing.

"Yeah we entered in at the same time," I started to play with my fingers as I talked, "my name is Silver by the way your majesty."

"Just call me Sonic, Silver. No need to be this formal with no one around," I was taken aback again. He not a snob like the rumors said. He quite nice actually.

"Ok Sonic," I smiled and bowed.

For the next five minutes Sonic talked to me. He was so nice and very mannered but treated me like a normal mobian. I was surprised at this action and started to warm up to him. But the longer we talked the more guilt I felt in my lower stomach.

This guy doesn't deserve what Scourge is planning to do. I started to imagine him being in the clutches of a greedy hornhog just waiting to use him as a toy.

But I can't do anything about it cause he has Blaze.

Blaze was like an older sister to me and Scourge has her. After the winter ball, Blaze had come back to the rose kingdom and was really tried. Me and Espio helped her go to her room and she told us that she wanted to talk about what happened in the morning. But the next morning she was gone and there was a letter left behind. The only way to save her was to keep her safe the best we can and comply with that green thing.

"I'll be on my way Sonic," I said and stood up.

"Ok Silver. It was a pleasure to meet you," Sonic waved and I exited out of there.

Before I made my way back to my area I bumped straight into Mephiles. He looked like he was about to yell until he saw it was me.

"Oh, it's you. By the direction your coming from it seems that you gave the prince his meal," I nodded and he looked towards the way I came from, "then I shall make my way to observe him to see the side affect."

"Wait!" before he walked off I grabbed his arm, "I have a question."

He looked at me and shook my arm away, "make it quick."

I started to play with my hands agains and took a deep breath, "me and Espio has a reason for doing this. We want our friend back from Scourge, that the only reason we are doing this messed up plan. But you are doing it for gold. I don't understand why. You said before a week ago that you had strong respect for Sonic-"

"You mean Prince," I rolled my eyes at his correction.

"Prince. If anything I think you would be fine letting him be King. You would also probably be paid more than what Scourge is paying you. I just don't understand why you're continuing with this if that is the possibility."

There was a silence for about a couple of seconds before he spoke up, "don't you think I already thought about that. I wish things can be different or me just killing Scourge but he has to much stuff on me and has tons of goons just ready to attack when needed to his command. I can't back down now even if I wanted to."

My ears lowered and I felt bad that this was all on Mephiles. He facing between life and death and having no choice to give into Scourge decisions

Mephiles looked away towards the prince's room, "go back to your area Silver. I need to go back to what I was supposed to be doing."

And with that he left.

I walked back to my area of the palace and found Espio reading a book in the room that we shared. He noticed me and could see that I was upset. I went to him a hugged him for emotional support. He petted my quills as I just cried on his shoulder.

 

Sonic POV:

I was eating my meal while writing in a journal. I would occasionally write some things in here to write any type of feeling I had away. Some of them were about Shadow (most of them were about Shadow) and some was about my time here in my room or when I was with Tails.

The day when I got back from my visit with Shadow a couple of days after the ball Tails encounter me. He knew that I was hiding something from him and told me that he was upset that I wasn't telling him anything. That night, I told him about everything since I met Shadow.  I even told him about the kiss in my room.

Then he told me that he has been writing to Princess Cream in the rose kingdom. He told me about all the letters and I was able to make him confess that he had a crush on her.

That day we made a promise that we would no longer keep secrets from each other.

I got up from my seat when I was done with my food. I walked over to bed and was about to lay down and read a book when I heard a knock but it didn't come from my door but from outside. I walked to my balcony and saw Shadow there waving.

I took off my mask and opened the door, "I wasn't expecting you to come today Shads."

"It was a surprise visit and Rouge wanted me to get out of the house so I decided to visit you," me and him walked to my desk and sat down.

For the next 10 minutes me and him talked and drew some flowers when I started to get hot. It was like I sat on the sun. It was bothering me so I stood up and just walked a little. As me and Shadow continued to talk I kept getting hotter and hotter. I stopped walking just swayed.

"Sonic are you ok?" Shadow asked me.

"Yeah~I'm g-g-good," I could feel myself sway more and more.

Shadow walked up to me and held my face still, "your really hot Sonic! Are you sick?"

As I look more into Shadow's eyes I started to get even more hot. I felt dizzy from standing and my vision started fogging.

 

Shadow POV:

Sonic was burring up and look like a tomato.

"Sonic do you need anything like water," he didn't respond, only looked at me.

"Sonic can you focus on me? Can you hear me?" he looked at me and moaned slightly.

He touched my chest and looked straight at me, "h-h-hot, down-n-n. S-shadow. H-h-help."

Then all of a sudden Sonic's legs gave out and fell on me. He was moaning softly and purring. I was  concerned and picked him up to lay him down. He was panting and kept looking at me, pleading me for help. 

I started to try and think of what is going on when Sonic pulled my dick from my pants, "Sonic what has gotten into you," I pulled away so I could calm myself down.

When he pulled, it made me feel something that I should have thought about. I could only think until I remembered  back to my intimacy with Rouge that night. Wait does that mean.

I looked back to see him on his side, his legs curled up, and moaning quietly. Is he intoxicated by something?

I went over to him and started to think about what I was about to do to check him of being drugged.

"I'm sorry Sonic, but I have to see what wrong with you," I get on top of Sonic and lean down.

I kissed him slightly. I opened his mouth a little to trying and search for what he had previously digested. I tasted mainly pork and vegetables but then I tasted something new.

 

The lust drug, Methamphetamine.

 

Sonic POV:

I felt lips on mine and I was enjoying it. He asked for entrance and I accepted. He explored my mouth and it made my lower body more hot. His kiss felt so good and sweet. I was kissing back and had rapped my legs around him. He ended the kiss and a string of saliva that was left.

I wanted more.

I pulled him back down and kissed him once more. Me and him started to make out and it felt magical. He went lower to my neck and started to lightly peck parts of my neck which I moaned to each time he moved. I started to take off my top and Shadow started trailing my body with his hand from my chest to my ass. His touch was very gentle but all of a sudden he stopped and put a hand over his mouth. He started shaking his head and pulling away from me but I didn't want him to.

"S-S-S-Shadow~ d-d-ont-t-t l-leav-v-v-e-e-e m-me," I tolled Shadow.

He turned me to the side and rapped his hands around my back, "Sonic, I am not going to do anything to you that you think you want. This drug is in your system. Your body is using your natural instincts from your heat to do this. I will not hurt you in any way and not take advantage of your state at this moment."

I could feel my body shutter. He held me still and I just waited with him. His chest was on my back quills and it was real warm which was nice.

Time started to pass and my body started to cool down but not fully. I started to feel my eyes getting heavy and felt my body get lighter. I didn't even realize I was falling asleep.

 

30 minutes later

Tails POV:

(I'm finally going to use Tails POV again after so long).

I was walking down the hallway holding 3 new books that I got from a town over. Me and Sonic started to research different types of flowers. He said he wanted to find a perfect flower to plant when spring comes. So far he wants to plant some tulips but I think he'll like this book on sunflowers.

I arrived at his room and knocked, "Sonic! It's Tail! I got some books. I thought you would like to look over them with me."

I opened the door and walked in. Sonic said I never had to ask for permission to entered because I’m his little bud. He's kind of like an older brother to me.

I closed the door behind me and began to look around. I saw further away that there was Sonic on the bed sleeping. 

That's strange. He doesn't usually go to bed this early. He's still had his normal clothes on instead of his night wear. I was about to wake him up so I could get some night clothes for him when I see an arm rapped around his waist.

"What the-"I got closer and saw that there was another mobian that was hugging Sonic in his sleep.

I dropped my books and I think that I woke the strange mobian because he lifted himself from the bed. He looked in my direction and that moment I began to panic.

"Oh shit," he said as he looked at me.

I need to do something. This guy broke into Sonic's room and saw his mask off. He dangerous!

"Guards!" I started to run to Sonic's door trying to get someone's attention.

But before I even made it to the door I felt a swift kick making me get farther away from the door. As I tried to get up the guy picked me up and covered my mouth. I continued to scream and kick as best as I can.

"Can you shut up for five fucking minutes!" this guy yelled.

As he said that both me and him heard Sonic groan and movement.

This guy immediately dropped me on the floor hard and walked to Sonic. I got nervous and got up only to see this guy rubbing Sonic head and ears. He was talking to him and Sonic smiled while he did so.

Sonic started to make a purring sound. I was shocked. I haven't heard him purr in years. Back then he used to do it all the time to show affection. Like when I was little Sonic would sit me down with him and let me lay my head back on his chests for him to purr for me. He would do this whenever I was sad. I also remember that he would form an array with his siblings and just purr and sleep together. They would invite me sometimes too.

They were fun until Manic and Sonia were gone and Sonic stopped purring almost completely.

How did this guy get Sonic to purr unless- "Your Shadow the Hedgehog."

The guy looked up at me and nodded, "and you must be Tails."

I was taken aback once he knew my name,"how do-"

"Obviously Sonic tolled me. I thought you were smart by the way he told me," I felt offended as he talked. He sounded way more snarky than the way Sonic described him.

I huffed, "I'm smarter than you will ever be."

A silence took over the room and it was awkward. I went up to the both of them and saw that he was petting his quills again. I stared at Shadow and saw him with a straight face but by the way he looked at Sonic showed that he cared for him.

"Hey, you got a staring problem," I blinked back to see him eyeing me.

I rubbed the back of my head, "oh, sorry. I'm just taking in notes."

He grunted at me as I tried to play off a smile. I think he might not like me. We continued to be quiet until he spoke up, "you should check your staff in this place. Sonic was drugged by Methamphetamine in his food. Have you heard of it?"

I put my hand to my nose until I realize what he was talking about, "I think I've heard of that. So does that mean that..."

My stomach started to turn as my day dream of them doing-

"Get your mind straight fox. I wouldn't take advantage of Sonic like that. He's too precious to me," I took a deep breath as he said that. Thank Chaos.

So if he is drugged that means I should do a very thorough check around the staff next time serving food and tell the Queen.

I went to Sonic and sat near his head. It was kind of separating me and Shadow now. I could feel Shadow's glare on me.

"You know," I looked up to stared straight into Shadow's eyes, "I didn't even know about you until recently. Sonic, before I was even told, seemed happier. I would sometimes hear him hum and catch him smiling more often. He even would stop wearing the mask in his room every once in a while."

"Are you trying to get somewhere cause your voice is very annoying," I huffed at this guy.

"How does Sonic find the strength to hang out with you," I whispered to myself cause I feel like this guy would beat me up if I said out loud, "I'm just saying that I'm thankful that your here for him and that as much as I dislike you right now, I want you to continue to do whatever your doing to make Sonic happy."

I could see that he was taken back from my words but as soon as it came it disappeared as quick, "Thank you I guess. I do my best for Sonic." I gave him a smile which he grunted.

Just then I could feel movement of Sonic beside me. He started groaning and grunting in his sleep moving. I picked up his head and laid it in my lap. I put a hand over his forehead. He was burning up like a living inferno.

"He's really hot. I need to get some paramedics. The person who did this must had over did the amount of drug they put in his food," I saw a slight nod from Shadow and he stood up.

"I should leave then. Stay with him the whole time. I don't really like you but I trust you to watch him carefully," I nodded and he went towards the balcony.

"Shadow!" I said and he turned to look at me, "I'm sorry that you can't explore the relationship you both wanted. And thank you for making Sonic happy."

He nodded and opened the door, "you're welcome. I'll come back in two days to check on him."

"We'll do," and with that he left.

 

One Day later

Sonic POV:

I woke up to feeling kind of warm and a strong headache. I opened my eyes and realize I had my mask on. I sat up slowly and looked around. There was two paramedics and my mother on the other side of the room.

"Ma?" I said kind of low but she still heard me.

She rushed over, sat next to me and hugged me, "Oh son, I was so worried."

She got up and the two paramedics checked me out and asked me some questions. I just answered the best I could cause my headache was getting worse.

After like ten minutes of examining me they told my mother I would be fine. They left and my mother stayed.

I am so confused. I don't really remember what happened except that Shadow was just here I think. And I got all hot and I got touchy, and I was kissing-

Oh my-!

What in the great name of Chaos was I doing, "Ma, what happened?"

"Tails came to me and said that you were drugged by your dinner yesterday evening. You slept for a day until now. We still haven't found the ones who did this. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Once we find those criminals we will kill them and send them straight into the fiery pits of hell," I could see that my mother was furious about what happened to me.

I grabbed her hand and rubbed it with my thumb, "well I'm fine ma. No need to be that intense. We don't even know them. I don't think we should go straight to killing  without reason of why they did this. Everyone should defend themselves for their actions."

She looked at me and eventually smiled. She took of my mask and kissed my nose. She looked into my eyes, "why do you have to act just like your father?Always too forgiving and too nice for your own good."

I smile back at her and gave her a hug and she hugged back.

Chapter Text

Silver POV:

I was in Sonic's room. Me and him and Tails have been talking for about 20 minutes. We were talking about flowers. Sonic had told me that he wanted to plant some on his balcony once spring comes around. So far he is planning to plant sunflowers. That so matches him, all sunny and bright just like a big sunflower.

"Well, it was nice talking to you Sonic. I have to go," I stood up from my seat.

He got up too and walked over to me, "ok. Make sure to tell Espio that I said hi."

"Will do," I smiled and I'm sure he smiled back.

Then Tails stood up and went towards me too, "I have to leave too. I had told someone that I would help them with something but I'll come back later."

"Alright bud. I have something to do too so we'll catch up later," Sonic waved and me and Tails walked out.

We both walked down the hallway is complete silence. It was very award. For some odd reason I have a feeling that Tails doesn't like me. I don't think Sonic recognize it but by the way he looks at me, it gives me shivers.

"Hey Silver," I nearly jumped once Tails spoke, "can you come here for a second?"

He was at a door that I have never been in. To be honest, I only know the servants living area, the kitchen  and the walk from there to Sonic's room.

I fidgeted my fingers and nodded to Tails request. He opened the door and I walked in. It seems to be a library.

All of a sudden I was pushed against a bookshelf.

I looked up to see Tails glaring daggers at me, "Ok, Silver. You're going to tell me what I wanna hear. And you're going to answer my questions. What are you doing here and what are you planning?"

I waved my hands up to my chest in defense. Just play dumb Silver. He knows something's up so just deny, "I have know idea what you talking about."

"Oh don't act dumb. I know you're the one to have some kind of involvement with the past weeks," my heart dropped as his words went through.

How does he know, "what do you mean? I've done nothing wrong and you have nothing one me to prove yourself."

"Well heck I do. First of all, do you find your appearance random. I found out from files in the royal catalogs that you were put into work in the kitchen of the royal family. I find it odd that someone so new would be automatically put into preparation of the prince's meals and serving it to him. Sonic might find it as a coincidence that someone new came and sees them as a new friend like he always has but not me. I also can't recall you getting a meeting or approval from anything or anyone. It was like you were always here which you were not," I could feel myself sweat and shake as this fox boy was connecting the dots, "To add on, Sonic suddenly start to have strange things go wrong with him when he is usually as healthy as a horse. And let's check back to when you arrived. Oh right, you arrived almost the exact same time when this started to happen. I know about 99% of these sudden changes to Sonic well being was caused by you. So what do you have to say then."

I couldn't speak. He caught me red handed, "I-I-"

Before anything else happen suddenly Tails fell on top of me. I lifted him and saw that he was unconscious, "what the he-"

"I took care of your situation," I nearly screamed when I heard someone behind me.

I look behind me to see Mephiles, "Goodness, you nearly scared the quills off me."

I looked down at the sleeping fox, "how-"

"I have some abilities you could say. You were lucky that I was around. You were cracking. You were practically almost caught," I nodded to Mephiles' statement, "I didn't expect Miles to be this smart. Out of all the people the queen hired to search for you the fox was the one to catch you. I'm actually impressed for someone so young to be smarter than those other bubbling fouls."

"Wait how old is he?"

"I believe about 12 going on to be 13 in May," My jaw dropped.

"13! Your serious! I thought he would at least be close to 17 maybe even 18," Mephiles nodded.

"Quite impressive. He actually works with tons of the high chancellors and ambassadors. He even helped invent some of the new weapons in this kingdom," wow, no wonder.

Now that I think about it, "how do you know this stuff?"

He picked up Tails off of me and put him on his back, "I've been watching almost everyone in the palace that is around the prince for months. What do you expect."

I guess that's true. Me and Mephiles in up taking Tails back to his room. He didn't have to share it with anyone and it was still bigger than my room back at home. It was filled with papers and maps and graphs. It was scattered over both desk he has. I picked up a couple of the and majority of them were business stuff until I found on with my and Espio's name on it.

It had tons of accusation of the both of us. There were dates of every time we worked and the days counting back to when we first arrived. He even found out that we are originally from the rose kingdom. How does he know that?

This guy has so much things on me and Espio, "Mephiles. Tails is a huge threat to our mission. He can compromise us and have us kill with this."

I gave him his tons of notes and comments. His eye got narrowed as he looked after page after page. Then all of a sudden they all burned in front of me.

"What the heck. How did you do that?"

Mephiles dusted his hands, "like I said before. I have a certain amount of abilities. That all you need to know. By the way, Miles won't know anything in the past 24 hours so try to avoid him. He  now doesn't have any evidence either so do your best to your job without drawing attention to you."

I nodded and with that he disappeared.

 

(Let's add a little shake to this story and out our three princesses).

 

Amy POV:

"You know, you should send him a gift Cream. You guys have been writing to each other for some time. It would be nice," I said as I unraveled Cream's hair.

Ever since we went to the Everglade kingdom, Cream has been talking to Tails, one of the guys we met while over there, and have been sending letters every couple of weeks. Cream had developed a crush and I could practically see it whenever she got a letter from him.

I grabbed some of the flowers that she picked out and put it into her hair, "that's a great idea Amy but what exactly should I give him?"

I looked over at Sally. She was reading a book but I know she was listening to us, "Sally? Have any suggestions?"

She looked our way and closed her book, "well it's going to be hard. He's practically has everything like us. Miles' is like Prince Sonic's younger brother and is friends with the Queen of Everglade. I can imagine that he is pretty set on stuff."

Cream burrowed her head and I groaned, "wow Sally. way to be a downer."

She crossed her arms and smiled, "that doesn't mean we can't give him a gift."

I was confused for about half a second until it clicked, "we should make him a gift!"

"Bingo."

"That's a great idea!" she got up from my bed exited, "I could-"

Cream was cut off by a knock on the door, "princesses, the King wishes for presence in the library."

"Okay, thank you," Sally said and got up.

We all made it out of our room and walked down the hallway. I wonder what dad wants now? The last time he asked for all of us was during the winter ball. He had wanted one of us to go with him, which was Sally this year.

We walked into the library and to his study in the corner. He was sitting like he usually does but this time he seemed more happy than serious which was weird. The guards had left and me and my sisters bowed and our father did the same.

"Good afternoon Father," we all say in unison.

"Good afternoon Daughters. Take a seat," we went toward our stools that was placed in front of  him.

We all sat down and waited till he started to talk, "I have news that I got from the Everglade Kingdom that actually might help us get back to track with connecting the kingdoms."

"Father. I thought the deal was off. Queen Alena had told us that the contact was off after what will happen," Sally said taking the words right out of mine.

"I understand but there is a way we can make this work," our father had taken out something. it was a vile that had some type of purple liquid, "earlier last week the prince was found drugged by his assistant Miles. They say that it was some kind of lust drug you could say, I just don't remember the name. I have a plan to use this to our advantage. I about 2 months we are supposed to be going to the Everglade Kingdom and to stay there for 3 nights with some other kingdoms. On one of those nights of your choosing one of you have to pregnant with using this drug. This will force the Queen to accept our deal and join kingdoms and become even more powerful."

My heart dropped. I opened my mouth but no words came out. We can't do this. I can't do this to Sonic. Yes I have a crush on his and find him cute but this is too much. Cream can't do it cause she's too young and Sally is into girls (me and Cream are the only ones who knows).

I looked their way and saw their faces of every type of emotion.

"Father, this not right. We can do something like this. It's illegal for someone to drug another in the Everglade kingdom anyway. We are royals, the ones to follow the rules," Sally said standing from her seat.

"SIT DOWN WOMEN!," Father yelled and Sally sat, "I already know that and I'm not taking any no from any of you so who will it be."

I stood up and made my decision before anyone else could stop me, "I'll do it."

I could see my sisters' faces and my father looking at me, "very well Amelia."

 

Scourge POV:

I woke up and looked to my side to see someone next to me naked. Must have gotten drunk again. I got up and put on my clothes back on and made my way out of the mobian's house.

As I walked I could feel my hangover start to affect me so I walked to my normal bar. In my book the only way to get rid of a hangover is to drink it away. I haven't been sober in probably years.

I sat in my normal seat and ordered a whiskey. It was the strongest and cheapest thing I could get from this place. For about 2 hours I stayed there talking to some bitches and hoes until someone walked up to me.

"Are you Scourge the Hedgehog?"

"Yeah, what's it for you?" this guy sits next to me and orders a vodka.

"The name is Infinite and I have an offer for you," I eyed this guy out. He was wearing crocodile mostly and looked like he came straight from the desert kingdom. He had a whip as a weapon I guess (I can easily dodge if he tries anything).

"What kind of offer?" I asked.

His beverage got severed and took drink, "I heard from a friend in this hidden town that you are trying to be king and I can help you with that if ya trust me and I only ask for one thing in return."

"And what is that?" I asked again. I hate not knowing anything.

"I want the Queen dead and would love to get my hands on the prince. I have to say that he is a real looker when I saw him that night at the dance and his face is not that bad either. I've seen it myself and god he is hot for my liking. This is rare for me so I would like to explore his mo-"

"Heck to the no."

The guy looked at me with utter disbelief, " what do you mean no. I am offering you the help of a high ranked fighter for you to get to your goal. What is the problem?"

I stood up from my seat and pointer my thumb to my chest, " because the prince is mine to be won. He's my bitch. And if you think that for a second that you will get to have a finger on my prize, I'll personally kill you."

I paid my tab and flicked Infinite's hat, "catch you around, sideways eight."

I left him and walked towards the town center. The sweet prince is my bitch. I am the one who's going to make him scream. I am the one to hear his moans. I am the whole going to put my dick straight inside him.

He's mine. My property to toy with.

If anyone takes what is mine, they'll end up 6 feet under.

 

Rouge POV:

I was walking down the road with Knuckles. We started dating about a week ago. I had gone on about 6 different dates so far. Sonic and Shadow so far are the only ones who know. We met while at the ball and I tried to make a move on him which he refused. It caught me off guard which kind of spiked my interest. I ended up asking to go on a date and he accepted. After our third outing we started to date.

"What town did you say she was in again?" Knuckles asked.

I looked down at the map I've been caring, "down in daisy grove in the Rose kingdom which is about a half of a mile away."

I was planning to meet up with one of my friends, Blaze. She would usually be in Parrywikle every month but I haven't seen her in a while. It's unlike her to not follow her schedule.

We walked for about 8 minutes when we arrived. I looked around to see that the streets were more empty than usual.

"Is there always this much people here? I would expect it to be fuller," he said while looking around us.

"There usually is more than this. The streets would usually be filled with costumers," I was kind of confusing that I wasn't being trampled by others while walking through.

I grabbed Knuckles hands a flu us up to over seen the town. It was in no motion, "we should go to the service area over there," I pointed, "maybe we can get some news of what is going on."

I let go of Knuckles and he began to glide towards the area which I was right behind. We both landed and walked to the front door. We both walked in and place had a weird kind of feeling inside it. It gave me the shivers.

We went to the front desk where a mouse was, "hello costumers. I am Calab, how can I help you?"

Before I could utter a word Knuckles spoke, "why is the streets so empty?"

The mouse groaned and rested his head, "didn't y'all hear of the new rules from King Author. They're  absolutely crazy. Majority of town moved to other kingdoms already. Heck, I might have to cause someone can be killed at any second for doing nothing. "

This shocked me. This town is usually very peaceful with nothing bad happening there than the occasional steal of food or supplies.

I placed down 5 gold rings, "I'm sorry to hear that hun. Thank you for your information."

Me and Knuckles walked out in silence. For the next hour me and him looked around most stores just to try and find anything else but there was no other news except that this town was turning into just a ghost town.

Something is up and it's not for the better.

Chapter Text

Mephiles POV:

Me and the prince was playing a game of chess. So far I was winning but I was surprised that he was able to go this long.

Recently the prince has been wanting me involved with his routines through out the last 3 days. He would ether have me watch his combat classes or let me join him in his meals. I took in the thought of him just wanting more company but I feel like it's more than that.

I didn't mind this though. I'm not sure if it's just that I'm around him more but I am feeling more open with him. He reminds me of a old friend.

"Why are we doing this again?" I asked as he moved a piece.

"Ma once said 'Chess is the best game to play to learn strategy'. My teacher for combat said that I should be able to make a plan for a group of guards. You never know. One day when I am King I might have to format a plan that includes everyone instead of just me," his logic sounds good.

I move my piece and waited for him to go. After like 10 more minutes I was beginning to lose until he said, "Checkmate."

He knocked over my king and I took in the thought of my defeat, "well done your majesty."

"You played good too, put a good fight. I just wish one day I could beat Tails though. I have never won one against him," he laughed as he started to get up.

"I'm going to go to the balcony for some air," he pointed to the door.

I nodded and he walked out. I started to clean up the table and put away the chess pieces.

You know if I thought about it, I haven't had to use my dark magic on the prince. He would just do what I say with free will. He really trust me I guess, but I should use it to be able to make a better connection for later on.

I started to make my way to the balcony.

 

A couple of minutes before Sonic walked out

Shadow POV:

I got past the front guards of the palace. This place needs more security but at the same time I am good at sneaking from past experience.

I went up the side of the tower that was closest to Sonic's balcony. I had made it to the top and prepared to jump across. I ran backwards and bolted to make the jump to the balcony. I was able to get to cling to the gate and climb up it.

It sucked to have to do this every time I come over but it's also a good way to stay in shape. At least it's not as cold any more. One of the times I tried to come, my foot slipped from the snow. Sonic had saw me and laughed the whole time I got up.

I started to make my way to the balcony's door. I went through my pockets looking for the key Sonic had given me. He hated the idea of me waiting for him outside.

I finally grabbed them and before I could unlock the door Sonic opened the door. He looked up at me and gasped.

He pushed me back onto the wall and kept looking back at door and looked me dead in the eyes, "Shadow! This a bad time for you to be here. My supervisor friend is here and I can't let you-"

"Prince Sonic what are you doing?" me a Sonic looked over to see...

MEPHILES!!!

What is he doing here. I thought he would be locked up or dead. What the great Gia's name is he doing here.

I say stiff as we all stared at each other until Sonic opened his mouth, "Ok. Mephiles, remember our deal about the outings with someone. Well that someone is Shadow. Shadow this is my supervisor Mephiles."

Mephiles took out his hand and offered it, "It's a pleasure to met you Shadow. I feel like I've seen you before though."

I bit my tongue back trying to act along with this little game Mephiles was playing, "Good to met you too."

We shook hand both of us gripped each others hands.

I can't believe he's still here. After everything that happened.

"So, Shadow you wanna come in," Sonic asked after me and Mephiles had a long stare.

I looked down at him and nodded.

 

20 minutes later.

It's been so uncomfortable for so long.  Sonic and I was the main ones talking but he would add in Mephiles to keep our conversation rolling. It was very hard to stay in this one spot when someone I thought I would never see again is in front of you.

I can't stay here any longer, " I think I'm going to go." 

Sonic stood up immediately, "what! You just got here. Most of the time you would stay at least an hour or two."

Mephiles put a hand on Sonic's shoulder, "now Prince Sonic, if he needs to leave it's probably important."

Sonic's ears lowered.

I stood up and started to make my way to the balcony door until I felt a hug. I turned around to see Sonic, "I'll come visit you soon."

I nodded at him, "Alright."

"That won't be happening," I heard Mephiles say.

At that moment Sonic fell limp into my chest. I started to panic quickly. There was an odd feeling in this room which I recognized well. It was dark chaos energy and it was coming from Mephiles.

"What are you doing?!" I asked and looked at him.

I held Sonic's body. He was wasn't responding to anything. As I tried to get him to respond to me, Mephiles walked over and lifted Sonic's mask. At that moment I saw that Sonic's eyes were now lavender purple. He looked lifeless.

Mephiles put a hand on my shoulder, "I just wanna have a talk with you without the prince listening."

At those words Mephiles waved his hand in the air, "come here."

Sonic got up and walked to Mephiles' side. He look like he was in a trance and it worried me to see him in that way, "what did you do to him!"

I went towards him and held his face to find any hint of him left. He was completely emotionless.

Mephiles chuckled, "oh come on Shadow. You and me both know what I'm capable of."

I kept looking at Sonic over and over. I got more worried each second until Mephiles add, "don't worry. I only used hypnosis. He's still in there, probably dreaming about helping others or running in open fields. You and me both know how he is. Anyway, I bet you have a few questions-"

I looked back up Mephiles meeting his eyes, "why are you here?"

I was already fed up with him being here in this kingdom but I was furious that he is here with Sonic of all mobains.

Mephiles sighed, " I would tell you but the prince made it very obvious that I work for him. I was traveling around and found this kingdom alight for my standards and you know I'm very picky."

I had a feeling that everything he just said was a lie but I bit back my tongue, " but why out of all of Everglade would you choose to work inside the palace."

"Ok, I understand it's weird after the war but I have my reasons. You also can't be one to talk. You've injured hundreds of Everglade soldiers in the war and now you go ahead and start making out with the next king of this kingdom. Not really a good idea might I add."

My heart dropped, "how do you-"

"You should also know by now that I am the best at sneaking around. I always have eyes on the prince, as to add on that's it's my job."

I felt sick to my stomach to now know that someone was listening to me and Sonic.

"To be honest, I never knew you were such a good lover like that. Letting the prince willing choose his actions like that and the way that you took dominance of that kiss was quite impressive. I never knew you had it in you-"

"Can you stop talking about that. It wasn't your business to see or hear so it's not your business to talk about it to my face,"  I hated him talking about our moments together, "back on topic. Why'd you do this to him? You and I both know that you use your dark magic to get revenge or your own-," wait, "don't tell that you had your way with him like this."

"Gia no. Shadow I thought you knew me better," I squinted my eyes, and I think he got that I was serious, "I wouldn't even do that if he was my type anyways. I do believe that I have inquired a soft spot for the prince."

A soft spot? "why would you have one? I haven't seen you in years but I know that you don't get connect to others like this."

He laughed a little, "Oh tell me you don't see it too. The way the prince was able to tear your walls down so quickly in this amount of time. The way he lights up a room with only and smile and laugh. How his eyes are just the true symbol of kind and caring. Doesn't that remind you of a certain old friend that was involved with the color blue even though her kingdom's colors were the contrast of it."

I knew who he was talking about cause I knew it too.

"The funny thing is that both of them were practically made to be royalty but our poor Maria never got to," my heart shattered when said her name.

I could still remember what happened, " are you just here to cause more problems. We both know that she's gone."

"I have no harm," Mephiles put his hands up, "Maria would have been a great leader if she wasn't sick. And before you go off I need you to remember that she was my friend too. I cared for her deeply and wish that she could have stayed longer. But I'm trying to move on and of course when I try to move on the prince interrupts that. He is such a kind soul that it would perfectly match our Maria. They would've loved each other. All I doing now is to do better than before and actually help this mobian become the leader he was boor to be."

I was a little stunt that he said that. Yes I could understand that he missed her like me but I didn't know that he would do this.

 

Mephiles POV:

I could see Shadow considering the words I had said. The truth is that half of what I said was true. I cared for both Maria and Sonic but little does Shadow know that I would eventually have to do what I had assign to do.

The more I think about it the more painful the thought of giving the prince willingly to the snot fucker hedgehog. I hated it but I had nothing else to do but carry out.

"If you really care about him then why do this to him," Shadow pointed out the state.

I started to rack my brain for an excuse, "at the beginning of when we met I didn't really know him well and thought I could use my dark magic to try and put better qualities in his mind but I soon realized that he was already perfect. Today was just convenient."

I could feel myself get more relax once I saw Shadow take my bait.

"Since you did all of this to just talk to me, what did you need to talk about?" Shadow had questioned.

Oh right. I needed a way to get Shadow away from the prince. I know what is to come and I knew that Shadow would do something stupid once he found out sooner or later, "Shadow, we need to be real with each other. Sonic is one day going to be king of Everglade. I don't think you'll should still stay around for that."

I could see Shadow taking a step back, "what do you mean."

"I mean, you should leave before this goes on too far. Me, Tails, the prince, heck even you know that you're hurting yourself of not being together. And that pain won't just go away. One day, the prince will marry someone else and in the end both of you will still want each other."

Shadow looked over at the prince, "I don't know if I could let go."

I put a hand on his shoulder, "Shadow, he's prince and you're a commoner. That's something no amount of dark magic is ever going to change."

Shadow put his hands to the prince's muzzle, "but... I love him."

"If you really love him, you let him go," I could tell that he took in my words.

A tear rolled down his cheek. If only things weren't difficult. If I got my own opinion I think the two of them would be good for each other. There relationship would last for a life time. And I want both of them to be happy. Sonic is like a Maria that I take care of, and Shadow is like a brother to me. But if I was being realistic, even if Scourge wasn't in the picture the prince would still being married off to someone. This was going to happen ether way. I just had the opportunity to lay it on him.

"I'll leave," he said softly, "but I wanna do just one more thing."

He held the prince's face and leaned in. He softly kiss his lips. As I saw him, I started to feel bad.

Shadow was once my friend. We were practically brothers. I still cared for him.

I sighed to myself to what I was doing. I lifted my hand and made a command. The prince then kissed Shadow back and grabbed his arms.

Shadow didn't finch at the touch though. It was a beautiful moment for them but it was also their last good one.

 

Shadow POV:

I had moved my hands to Sonic's waist and pulled him closer. Mephiles had made Sonic kiss back which did comfort me but my chest still hurt.

I stayed still for a full minute till I let go. I looked back at Sonic, "I know you can't hear this but I want to tell you this for the last time. I love you."

I pecked his forehead and let go.

I looked over to Mephiles. He looked the same but for some reason I feel like he's worried. It was weird but it might just be me.

I walked to Mephiles and grabbed his and shook it, "Please take care of him for me. That's the last thing I will ever ask of you. Just stay close by and help him have a good life. The one I wish I could give."

He nodded, "I'll make sure of it."

I then made my way to the door. I looked back one more time. I looked for the last time at this hedgehog. His azure blue quills and his peach tented skin. The way his body stood there emotionless.

I wish I could have been the one to stay with him.

After another second I left.

 

*Bonus Part*

Flashback to 7 years

Past Shadow POV:

Me, Maria, and Mephiles was running with the King and the the prince and princess of Everglade.  I was carrying the princess since she had a twisted ankle from earlier.

Mephiles stopped us at a corner, "You guys should leave out the servants' way. There will be less guards there. I'll stay here to keep an eye out."

I nodded at Mephiles, "thank you."

Maria was guiding all of us a way out of this palace cause she knows it best, "don't worry guys. We'll get you out the best as we can. I'm so sorry by the way of this war."

King Jules nodded, "it's no problem Princess Maria. I can clearly see that this is not your fault. We will make sure to repay your good deeds once Everglade puts an end to this war."

Maria shook her head, "the only way to repay us is if you make this war end and help make a better world."

"You are so sweet Maria," the Princess said.

It took us about 5 minutes until we made it outside. I had looked around, "I don't see anyone but we need be careful."

Everyone nodded. We started to leave till we reached the gate. Maira got out a key, "Ok. Outside this wall leads to the forest. Make your way southeast and you will find a friend of mine."

Maria started to unlock the door. I started to walk around to see any form of attack and a second later I see an arrow flying straight towards the group.

"Watch out!" but it was too late.

Chapter Text

Sonic POV:

"Hi Sonic!" I looked over to see Tails behind me, "you look great."

I rubbed my eyes, "save me the sarcasm. I'm fine."

I could feel him roll his eyes, "yea, and I have one tail. Look, I can obviously see that your tried. You been doing so good but your body and mind needs to take a break."

I groaned and turned around, "I don't need a break. I do need is to finish this scroll."

Tails then went in front of me and took the paper in my hands, "hey!"

"Sonic, your always forcing me to stop went I over do my work. This time I'm doing that for you," he started taking all my stuff on the desk.

"HEY!" I tried to get my stuff back when he suddenly picked me up by my arms and flu me all the way to my room with his tails.

I was complaining the whole way there and he was just smiling. He then threw me onto my bed, "now let's see. What is the best way you can get a break."

I just continued to frown. I still need to choose the meals for the three days and decide on the decor of the hallways for each kingdom. Each kingdom has certain traditional environments and I took tons of time to study them. I still need to organize how to put everything together.

Tails had looked like he got a bright idea. He then walked towards my closet and came out with my blue cloak that I use when I go see Shadow.

He waved it in my face, "you should go see Shadow. I hate to admit this but you are the most relaxed with him when you're overwhelmed. Couple of hours with him will do you good."

He handed me the cloak. To be honest, this is a good idea. I would like to see Shadow again. I haven't seen him in a month. I've been so busy I haven't really noticed.

I looked up at Tails and sighed, "you're right. I'll leave to get my mind off things."

Tails smiled at me, "great! Now you go and relax."

I got up and smiled at Tails, "I will."

 

Shadow POV:

I was sitting in my backyard. I was looking at the flowers I had planted with Sonic. They were starting to sprout a little.

I still water them every day and make sure they get as much sunlight as possible.

But every time I see them I keep thinking about Sonic. He was the one to pick out this flower and we planned to plant them together. Now I just got to finish the work.

I laid my back against the oak tree that was starting to form pods for leaves to grow. I closed my eyes and rested.

But all of a sudden I could feel eyes on me. Was someone here?

I opened my eyes and looked around.

"Hey Shads," I turned to my side to see Sonic handing upside down from one of the big branches of the tree, "did I scare you?"

"Sonic, get down before you get hurt. These branches might break," I grunted.

Sonic then smiled at me and I knew he was going to do something to get on my nerves, "catch me."

Before I can tell him not to, he fell off. I caught him before he reached the grass.

I could hear a tiny giggle and then he bopped my nose, "congratulations you caught me and as your prize I will hang out with you today."

He got out of my arms and sat under the tree where I was just in.

He began to talk about why he hasn't been able to visit me. He explained that the palace has been really busy because his mother put him in charge of hosting the event of the 3 kingdoms that are planning to come. Apparently they are staying for 3 day. 

As he continued talking I felt a hole form in my chest and it kept growing bigger cause I knew what I was about to do. 

"Sonic, we have to talk."

 

Silver POV:

Me, Espio, and Mephiles entered the hidden town. This place wreaks of blood and looked like war was about to break out any minute. 

Earlier yesterday Mephiles had got a letter from Scourge saying that we needed to meet up with him. 

We all went to the address and it was the same place me and Espio had met Mephiles. It must be a good spot to fine Scourge. As we walked in most of the mobians and people looked at us like we were in for something. I hated that feeling.

"Hello fellas, nice for you to finally drop in," Scourge walked up to us.

We all followed him to the bar and ordered all of us all a drink. I got a whiskey. I was still under aged so I passed it to Epsio. 

"So Scourge, why'd you'd want to see us," Espio asked.

"Oh, I just wanted an update on our little prince and his kingdom. Recently people around here has been talking about an event I've been unaware of," I could hear in his voice that he was angry.

"What event are you talking about," Mephlies added. 

Since the last meeting we had with Scourge the three of us have been tell less about what is happening around the palace. We didn't want to bring up about the other royals because the last time we talked about it Scourge had nearly stabbed Espio. I don't really understand why he hates other royals but I don't care to find out.

"We've tolled you everything about the prince. Isn't that what you wanted to know most about," Espio said.

"Mephiles is doing his part in using his magic and me and Espio watches him from a distance. I don't understand what you're talking about," I added in.

Then all of a sudden I felt be tugged by my collar and flipped me onto the bar. He then held his arm around my neck, "YOU KNOW JACK SHIT WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT."

"Get your hands off my BOYFRIEND!" I look back to see Espio taking out a dagger and aim it to Scourge's neck.

I was starting to lose air and it was getting hard to breathe, " then tell me why you didn't fucking tell me about the kingdoms coming to see my kingdom."

"Ok I'm sorry we didn't tell you but if you just let go of Silver I'll explain everything," once Mephiles said that Scourge let go.

I immediately fell to the floor and Espio caught me. I started gasping for air and coughing while Espio rubbed my back.

"You two can leave. I only need this guy to explain for y'all," I looked over at Mephiles and looked at us.

"Just wait outside. It won't take that long," I didn't really get to say anything until Espio grabbed my arm and took me out.

 

Sonic POV: 

"About what?" I looked over at Shadow. 

"There is something I need to tell you," Shadow looked upset.

I sat up and turned around, "what's wrong did something happen to you."

Shadow stood up, "I don't want to come to the palace anymore."

He started to walk away from me so I followed.

 What does he mean? "what that supposed to mean? Are you trying to say that you don't want to travel to the palace anymore. I get it, it is a long way from here and I can see that you have to sneak around to see me. I can understand it's a hassle. You don't have to, I'll just come to you-"

"That's not what I mean Sonic!" He turned to face me in my face so I stepped back so I stepped back.

"What do you mean and I don't like your tone that much," I said.

Shadow sighed and rubbed his eyes, " I mean I want to stop seeing you period."

My heart dropped as my ears copied my emotion, "what."

"Listen, I'm surprised that you didn't catch on sooner. I seriously thought that you could see when someone is using you. But I guess that your to dumb to understand. Too slow to catch on," Shadow grunted.

"I don't understand what's going on," I said. My mind started to go in circles.

"Ok, let's put it in simpler terms for you to understand. You were a bet to me."

"What?!"

"Yes Sonic! A bet. During the first night we met I had made a bet with a friend that I could make anyone fall in love with me in under a year. I of course I won the bet so now I don't have to deal with you anymore," as Shadow said that I stopped completely.

My heart ached worse than anything I've felt before. I felt like I was about to fall off a cliff with no one to catch me. I could feel tears tug at the end of my eyes.

I went up to him hissing, "you're lying. I can tell. You don't mean any of that."

Shadow then pushed me to the grass, "hate to tell you the truth but I am. I'm a really go actor. To be honest leading you on was actually easy. You were so desperate for affection. I was even close to take your virginity away."

I shook my head. I don't want to hear this. Shadow then laughed, "and I got to be lucky mobian to be the prince's first kiss. The prince part was just a bonus to everything. But don't worry, I'll keep that a secret for your sake cause I pity you for being so pathetic."

"I don't believe you. Everything you've told me was genuine. I can tell. I know. You don't know what you're talking about," my face was stained with tears as I looked Shadow in the eye.

"You're really in that much denial aren't you. Well let me tell you this," Shadow grabbed my cloak, "this whole time I've been dealing with your continuous talking the drive me crazy. You are annoying and too loud for my liking. Every time I have to think about you it gives me a head ache. Not even your kissing can make being around you better. So in conclusion, I would rather move somewhere across the world than see you again."

He let go of my cloak and I felt weak to the nenes. I fell to the floor and let tears roll down my face. I didn't even say anything because I could think of anything. I felt numb.

Shadow walked away but turned to look at me, "when I come back here I better not see you, ya here."

I nodded. 

He disappeared into his house and I got up and ran.

 

1 hour later

Tail POV:

I walked to Sonic's room. He should be back by now. I knocked on his door, "Sonic are you here? It's Tails?"

I opened the door and walked in. I looked around to try and find Sonic, til I saw a lump on his bed, "Sonic are you trying to go to sleep?"

I walked up closer to then stop in my tracks.

He had the red baby blanket rapped around his upper body. I rushed over to him, "Sonic what's wrong?"

I lifted the blanket to try and get a glimpse of him but he tugged it back down his face.

This was serious. 

The red baby blanket was his and his sibling's favorite blanket. The blanket was pure cotton and had his, Manic's and Sonia's named threaded in gold. He uses this blanket now as a comfort item when he doesn't want to talk to anyone or when he's upset. I haven't seen this blanket in over 3 years. 

I sat down beside him, "can you tell me what happened?"

Sonic then took his hands from under the covers and did sign language.

"I can't talk right now," he signed.

I sighed, "Ok."

I got a couple of pillows and got on the bed with him. I let my tails go on top of him because he likes them (It's basically like a weighted blanket). I had book and just waited until he was ready to talk.

 

Shadow POV: 

I looked back outside to see that he was gone. 

I could my body numb. I felt like I was going to break any moment. I can't believe that I said all of that to Sonic.

I had made a plan to end things off, but actually caring out that plan and seeing the look of Sonic while doing that was killing me. 

My plan was going to use him as a bet. I knew if I had just said we needed to stop seeing each other Sonic would convince me to come back to him. So I had to make him see me as a bad person so it would be easier for him to stop wanting to see me.

So I lied. I lied so much that I could build a kingdom with each word. 

I now just have to live with the memory of that beautiful hedgehog being devastated by my words. 

I wish I could have done something different but the deed is already done.

I am never going to for give myself for this.

 

Mephiles POV:

Me, Espio, and Silver was on our way back to the palace. 

"Why did it take you so long to just explain something simple to Scourge?" Silver asked. 

"He just wanted to do something else for him," I said.

I was lying.

Scourge took me into a plan to kidnap the prince. He and some other criminals are going to take the prince during one of the nights when the other kingdoms come and visit. I found out why he doesn't like other kingdoms that much. The reason is that they were selfish and greedy. Everglade is the biggest kingdom in this world and apparently, to him, all the Kings and Queens want connection to Everglade. This gives him a lower chance to be king.

His plan is to kidnap the prince, have everyone blame other kingdoms and then about a week later bring back the prince and be the hero. The royal family would be very gracious and it would get him closer into the kingdom.

I didn't tell Silver or Epsio because they would not be able to carry out the plan. 

We all soon arrived at the palace and went our separate ways. I headed down to the prince's room. Before I even made it there a whole bunch of servants came rushing past me. 

The looked like medics. I continued to make my way until someone else bumped into me. 

"Sorry sir- Mephiles!" I looked down to see Tails, "I'm sorry I bumped into you but I need to get the Queen immediately."

"Why? What happened," I asked.

"Sonic is having a panic attack!" My eyes went wide. 

"Alright. You go do that. I'll check in with the prince," Tails nodded and ran past me.

I rushed down to the Prince's room and opened the door. The medics were surrounded around the prince's bed. I could hear them try to give him breathing techniques but it was doing nothing. I pushed past them and made my way to the prince.

He was sitting up and staring straight down onto the bed. He was sweating buckets and clutching his chests because of how short breath he was. He continued to look down into his palms, not breaking any eye contact.

I went up to him against what the medics said and grabbed his hand and closed my eyes.

I then started to used my power to change his emotion. I saw his past emotions and saw that he was scared and overwhelmed. He felt betrayed and devastated. I started to try and give him pleasant emotions to calm himself down.

"Ogilvie!" I turned over to see the Queen come in and hug the prince.

"Son can you hear me? Please come back to me," She repeated.

His mind soon started to calm down and I could feel his intense emotion go down. He looked up and I could see that his eyes started to look more lively.

"M-m-a," he stuttered out. 

"Yes, that's me. I'm your Ma," tears were on the Queen's face.

She pulled back and kissed his head, "I'm so happy you're back with us."

Sonic nodded.

Tails then walked up, "what happened for you to go into this kind of panic?"

The prince's ears went down. He lifted his shaky hands and did movements with them.

What is he doing with his hands.

"He says that it was a long day," Tails said.

I was confused.

I whispered to the side of Tails, "what was that all about?"

"Sonic was doing morse code. When he was young everybody thought that he was mute so his father taught him morse code. Now occasionally his voice would go away when he's overwhelmed with an intense situation," Tails whisper back.

I did hear that the prince was quiet when he was younger but I didn't think that it was because of that. That's probably why other kingdoms thought back then the prince wouldn't be good to communicate with his people when he grows up. Guess they were wrong. 

The room went silent because we were all waiting for the prince to do or say something. He then made eye contact with me. It looked like he wanted to say something important  to me but the words wouldn't come out. He didn't break eye contact with me until he started to sign something to Tails.

"Sonic says he grateful that everyone came to help him with his situation but that he wants to chat with Mephiles alone-" Tails started to slow down,"-wait what do you mean alone. How will he understand? And you just had a panic attack. It would be best if we stay with you."

The prince glared at Tails and signed again. Tails then said, "what is so important that we can't know."

They were going back and forth and no one was able to keep up because Tail was apparently the only one who understood.

"Enough you two," the Queen stood up, " Tails we can wait outside. It will probably only take a few minutes. Right Sonic."

Sonic nodded and Tails rolled his eyes, "alright it's settled. Son we'll be back once you're finished. Call us if you need it."

The prince nodded. Tails, the Queen, and all the medics left. Now it was just me and him. He got up from his bed and walked over to his desk. He grabbed a notebook and sat on the mini sofa near the end of his bed.

He wrote something down and then turned it over to me. I never noticed how neat the prince's handwringing was.

'What have you been doing with me, and be truthful'

I read it and it took a step back from me, "what are you taking about?"

'Do you really think I'm stupid. I know you did something to me at sometime ago and I'll like to know what."

"Where are you getting at. I've don't know what you're talking about," he's taking about my abilities I know that but I don't know how he found out.

'Don't talk to me like I'm that dumb. Do you think I wouldn't notice when someone is in my head. Let me remind you that I have experienced almost every you can possibly imagine. During the war I had to learn so many things that would harm or distract me towards danger.'

So he did know about my powers, I wonder, "so you know I have abilities. How long did it take you to notice?"

'About around the 3rd time I came back into reality with time changes.'

"So you've known for months about this. Why didn't you say anything?" I asked curiously.

'At first I started to notice these mini blacks through out my day. I had connected to you cause it usually happens when we were by our selfs. But when I suspected it I didn't have any real evidence other than a gut instinct. But today confirmed everything. During my panic attack I felt the same energy I felt with my blackouts. Maybe while you were calming me down you let a little of your spell slip. I got a peek of your mind for only a minute. You were with Silver in Tails room. Once I saw that I was able to confirm.'

So the prince was able to tell with my powers. I'm impressed. Most mobians or people wouldn't even notice, " I have one question though. If you know that I was using my powers on you why do you still let me stay here?"

Sonic began writing and then showed me, " at first I was going to tell Ma about this but things changed. As you continued to use your powers, you didn't intend to do anything bad with it. It had no harm to it and I honestly don't mind it to some extent. The main reason I didn't tell anyone because I do like talking with you. You kind of remind me of my father. Both of you have tons of wisdom to give and it's usually helpful. I always try to see how someone is before judging others. If I had thrown you out I would never get to know you. I'm glad I stuck with my moto for you but I'm not sure if I should for everyone."

I continued to read until I stopped at the last sentence, "yeah you should. Not everyone in this world can be trusted by you. Your sometimes to kind for your own good. And I'm not saying that as a compliment."

I could she the prince consider my words because he stopped writing. By now I finally connected the dots of why the prince is so upset. He must have visited Shadow. Last time Shadow and I talked I tolled him to find a way to make the prince stop loving him. I guess Shadow didn't hesitate to do his worst.

"Listen," I got in front of the prince and matched his level of hight on the sofa, "I can understand that you like for the world to get along like were all friend but the truth is that not everyone deserves that. I want you to know that you are an amazing hedgehog. You are very smart, caring, kind, and considerate. You think for others and not yourself and you try to make everyone happy. Everyone loves that from you. All I'm saying is that you don't have to give the real you to others that don't deserve that. Okay?"

The prince brought his legs to his chest. He put down the pencil and looked at me and nodded.

"Good, now that we have this record straight I'm going to let you talk or sign things over with Tails," Sonic smiled at me as I walked to the door.
