Chapter Text
Percy was trying very hard not to crush Annabeth's hand as they headed towards history together.
He didn't know what was wrong but he knew something was up,whether Annabeth didn't want to tell or she just genuinely was fine and Percy was the one freaking out was another question entirely.
Percy just wanted to...he wasn't sure help her subtly if something was wrong? Because thats what he's supposed to do as a boyfriend right?
Annabeth trailed behind with an unreadable face which was rare because Percy usually could read her expression.
She looked fine but her body language said otherwise-and Percy had to learn body language to dodge if something got hurled at him when he was younger-specifically a beer bottle.
When Annabeth and him had first meet Grover was bouncing with energy that Percy was coming to his school and showing him around,Percy was just trying not to fall asleep.
Not because Grover's tour was boring,he'd just slept poorly and it was catching up on him. Math class was his first class and he hated math's why did he have to learn about how a old man figured out a theory in math's barely anyone's gonna use?
Percy was in the middle of the classroom the teacher knew by Percy's face that he was a troublemaker but wanted evidence so put him in the middle until Percy messed up.
Well that was fine,he would use this chance to catch some sleep.
He shaken awake by a girl with princess blonde curls and Grey eyes reflecting his green.
The girl had a small smirk on her face then noticed Percy was awake and raised a mocking eyebrow.
"You drowl when you sleep." She said simply and went back to the lesson.
Percy sneaked glances at her the rest of class.
Now after many fights,teasing,tears and jealousy they were finally together for about a year.
Percy lead them to where Grover was chewing his hoodie string nervously then looked up with a sigh of relief.
"Oh thank god,you guys are here!" Grover exclaims.
Annabeth greets him with a smile "yeah,sorry Jason almost killed us."
Percy nods dramatically "we almost couldn't have our wedding Grover!"
Grover gasps and pretends to wipe a tear "I still have the wedding dress we found in a junkyard to..."
"Save it for Juniper Grover" Annabeth teases "I'm sure she'd love to wear a suit."
Grover blushes and glares at her while Percy snorts.
"Yeah dude,she'd love it and you look good in that dress."
They'd dared Grover to put it on as a dare and then he couldnt get it off until Percy and Annabeth had to cut off bits of his hair and rip down the zip.
"I guess so,I'll need to trim my hair though."
Annabeth gives a loud snort as the classroom door opens and she abruptly goes silent.
"Alright people let's get moving." Professor Chiron calls out.
They all rush into the classroom and Percy drags Annabeth to her front row seat-because she insisted she needed to focus and she couldn't in the back and Percy was in the front for the same problem.
Grover had begged and pleaded with Chiron until he gave in and let Grover sit next to Percy to 'get him grounded into work'
It didn't work but Chiron seemed to give up for now.
When Percy had first started here he'd struggled a lot,Chiron had pushed though to get him to do better until one afternoon after being held back Percy just snapped.
"Why the hell do you care!? It's not anybody else does!"
Chiron hadn't frowned and called him dramatic or put on a face of pity and told him he was wrong.
"You're right" he'd said instead "so I'll be the first,I know you can do good Percy,everyone deserves a chance to make some history,whether it's for someone else's satisfaction or just for yourself."
Percy had nodded and cried himself to sleep,he'd woken up more determined to pass Chirons class then ever.
And he had,for six running years he had.
Now he just needed to do one more.
Chiron was giving back our mock exam test paper back and Percy barely contained a whoop of joy.
B+
It was better then a B so Percy would take it but he needed an A to pass so he'd work on that it was fine he had time. He glanced over to Annabeth to share his victory...
She looked horrified.
Her hands were shaking as she held a A- trying not to cry.
Percy thought that was a bit overdramatic but he also knew this was important to her so brushed his annoyance aside and tapped her shoulder.
He showed off his B+ to her just to say: "hey! At least you didn't get a B+!"
She just looked at it,clearly annoyed and turned away in a huff.
Percys smile falls and he quickly puts it back down in embarrassment.
Did he do something? He hadn't meant to hurt her feelings.
She was just having an off day,thats all nothing to worry about.
Right?
The class bell rang for the end of English-second period and Percy practically flew off his seat and glanced at Annabeth.
"Hey! You passed English! Or theoretically you did anyway."
Annabeth sighs,looking tired "yeah,barely I just managed to get an A."
"Same,I think it was only on point away from a B+ but I still passed!"
Annabeth smiles thinly,looking a bit pleased "good those hours of studying with you were worth it at least."
That stung a little bit but Percy shoved it aside she was back to normal,sort of but better than an hour ago!
Maybe she just had a rough wake up.
Grover sighed "options next,I got gardening as much as I love it its so hot today I dont think ill survive wearing gloves and boots."
"I'm stuck with woodworking and designs so the heat from the machines will kill me I'll be taking at least six water breaks" Annabeth informs us.
"Well I got art so I should be good,unless the air conditioning broke again." Percy notes.
Annabeth gives him an odd look "I still wonder why you picked art."
"Well its one of the easiest things to do" Percy lies.
It wasn't easy Percy just panicked and choose art because he didn't have any interests that came in the options program.
"Percy!" A voice calls out-Frank Zhang and he rushes towards us with a grin with Hazel Levesque in tow.
"Did you hear? Apparently one of the university kids is throwing a party! I think his name is Lit?"
Percy shakes his head "no I did not."
"Well do you have swim practice? If not then you guys are invited I think his boyfriend invited us all Apollo? Hes the new art teacher,pretty young" Hazel asks.
Percy looks over to Annabeth you wanna go?
Annabeth looks nervous being put on the spot but nods subtly yeah,let's go then.
Percy smiles "I dont have swim practice,coach canceled said something come up,I'll be free."
Percy being okay to go meant Annabeth was to so Hazel and Frank didn't bother asking if she wanted to go.
"I'm going on a date with Juniper so I'm busy." Grover admits.
"All goods G-man maybe another time?" Percy assures him.
Grover nods "I gotta go anyways" he waves them all goodbye and runs off.
Okay...? Weird.
Percy shakes his head "Imma go get something to eat want anything Annabeth?"
Annabeth hands him money with a kiss on the cheek "my usual,I'll get us our spot, thanks."
Percy winks and rushes away,giddy from the kiss.
See? Everything was fine,Percy was being dramatic.
