The Sinner & His "Bride"

Chapter 2: The "Bride"

Chapter Text

An illness was what doomed her that day; she decided to run far away. She could not let her loved ones watch her wither away, watch her beg for death.

She fled in the middle of the night, the stars were bright, and the moon was tinted blue. A lovely night for a walk…Even with all the money her husband and she possessed, could not cure her from the illness, doomed to die, she chose to do it alone.

Full of emotions, she stopped in the middle of the street, still in her white nightgown, tears fell, her lungs were unable to breathe, causing her to wheeze loudly, her throat was dry and scratchy from the constant vomiting; it felt as if nails had been forced down her throat, raw and bloody from the irritation.

Her sunken eyes, dull and lifeless, were red and puffy…or at least they should have been. They no longer held the hope of recovering.

A man with tender blue eyes and an uncanny smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes spoke in a gentle tone, telling her he was a doctor, that he’d love to help her. As much as she didn’t want to believe him or trust him. She had nobody else to turn to; she spoke in a raspy voice, begged the man to take care of her after she expired.

The man had led her to an abandoned church in the middle of nowhere, promising her the world, if only for a short time. Although the doctor was an odd one, she felt comfort and spent the last of her days talking about her life, and gave him small but sad smiles.

Soon she expired, died from her illness, alone with a stranger to take care of her body. Her body began to decay, unable to move on from the mortal realm, she watched the man, this sinner, treat her body as if she were a doll, dressing it up and replacing her missing parts with quality replacements.

Watching him for months as he began to believe his delusions, watching him stain his hands red with her blood, unable to protest, she watched him profess his vow to bind the two together, to keep her body beautiful, to bring her back to life, to properly court and wed her, as a man should.

She didn’t wish for this; she hated watching this man make a monster of her body, to mold it into an ideal form of a woman that he didn’t even know. Her screams and wails went unheard by the living.

Soon her time with him ended, finally took her to her final resting place, she watched the man in red, accept that his selfishness wasn’t what she wanted, that “she” was a monster he created. That the love wasn’t there, never was reciprocated to begin with. That she held no love. That crushed the man.

It was time for his judgment and her time to pass on, now that she was laid to rest by the one who loved her the most.

Herself.
