I was so excited when I saw that this updated. I love how you set scenes and move through the story so fluidly. Your painting of Lake Michigan and Midwestern sensibility brought back memories of visiting family in Michigan as a child. I especially love how you describe the sensory experience of the lake both at the lake itself and in places it shouldn't be; it's comforting and lulling, but with a creeping sense of wrongness.
That's so great to hear! I've actually never been to any Great Lakes, so I kind of split the difference between my experiences of the ocean and of smaller lakes. I'm glad it worked out lol. The Midwestern hospitality is all from experience tho lmfao.
