This feels so realistic and grounded! Love the lil cheeky banter between the Alec and Ellie too! You can really tell they know each other inside and out, so in sync and quick with the quips but in this warm, bright way that bounces off of each other smoothly.
And speaking of that warmth, the shift to that cooler professional tone once they get the call in for a new case is brilliant! Swift and natural, immersing you in the moment with them as they learn the basics of what's been found/went down.
Really enjoyed reading this chapter, it pulled me in quick!
Thanks! Yeah, these two ... they've been together for a while, now, and they love each other quite a lot. It's the second time around for both, and they've both had marital trauma before, so they're pretty intentional about taking good care of each other. (Which often does include some nice, unexpected sex, lol.)
