Chapter Text
Item #: SCP-D: 0
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-D: 0 itself is a transient spatial anomaly and cannot be physically contained. Efforts are to be focused on the immediate detection, containment, and neutralization of emergent entities, designated SCP-D: 0-1 instances.
Site-██ Containment Protocol:
-
Detection & Isolation: All Foundation computational networks are to be monitored 24/7 for anomalous digital signatures or fluctuations in reality-bending energy readings. Identified potential emergence points must be isolated immediately with a minimum 500-meter exclusion zone established.
-
Emergency Response Teams (ERTs): Mobile Task Force Lambda-9 ("Digital Divers") is permanently assigned to SCP-D: 0 response. ERTs are to be equipped with specialized weaponry capable of disrupting energy fields and high-density matter, as well as non-lethal capture devices for research purposes.
-
Emergent Entity Containment:
-
Upon detection of an SCP-D: 0-1 emergence, ERTs are to immediately engage. Priority is given to neutralizing hostile entities and capturing docile or unique specimens.
-
Captured SCP-D: 0-1 instances are to be transported to dedicated high-security containment units within Site-██, equipped with specialized electromagnetic fields to suppress anomalous properties and reinforced materials to prevent escape.
-
Under no circumstances are SCP-D: 0-1 instances to be allowed to interact with uncontained digital devices or public networks.
-
-
Disinformation Protocol: Any public observation of SCP-D: 0-1 instances or anomalous digital phenomena is to be suppressed via Class-B Amnestics and coordinated disinformation campaigns.
-
Research Initiatives: Ongoing research is to focus on:
-
Predicting SCP-D: 0 emergence locations and timings.
-
Developing methods to reverse the translation of SCP-D: 0-1 instances or return them to their originating dimension. (Current efforts have yielded negative results.)
-
Identifying potential weaknesses or vulnerabilities of SCP-D: 0-1 instances.
-
Understanding the nature of the "digital world" from which these entities originate.
-
Description:
SCP-D: 0 designates a recurring, transient spatial anomaly that manifests as a foramina or tear in the fabric of reality, allowing entities from a presumed "digital realm" to materialize into baseline reality. These emergent entities are designated SCP-D: 0-1 until they are contained and given a permanent designation.
SCP-D: 0 manifestations are unpredictable in location and duration, though they consistently occur in close proximity to areas of high computational activity or advanced network infrastructure (e.g., data centers, highly trafficked internet exchange points, quantum computing facilities). The foramina itself appears as a localized shimmering, almost pixilated distortion in the air, often accompanied by faint, unidentifiable digital sounds or rhythmic, non-audible pulses. It typically measures between 0.5 and 3 meters in diameter.
SCP-D: 0-1 instances emerge from these foramina. They vary wildly in form, ranging from simplistic, geometric constructs reminiscent of early video game sprites to complex, biomechanical entities exhibiting highly aggressive behavior. Despite their diverse appearances, all SCP-D: 0-1 instances share common characteristics:
-
Digital Physiology: Their physical composition often appears to be unstable or "glitched," exhibiting shimmering outlines, momentary pixelation, or impossible geometric configurations. Injuries sustained by SCP-D: 0-1 instances may result in numerical data streams or fragmented code emanating from wounds.
-
One-Way Transit: Crucially, once an SCP-D: 0-1 instance has fully materialized, there is currently no known method to return it to its originating dimension or reverse its physical manifestation. Attempts to force SCP-D: 0-1 instances back through an active SCP-D: 0 foramina have uniformly failed, with entities either resisting the attempt or simply phasing through the anomaly as if it were non-existent to them from this side.
-
Variable Threat Level: The threat posed by SCP-D: 0-1 instances ranges from benign curiosity to extreme hostility. Some instances appear to wander aimlessly or interact with their surroundings in a non-destructive manner, while others demonstrate immediate aggression towards organic life and infrastructure, capable of causing significant damage through physical attacks or anomalous digital interference.
-
Anomalous Properties: Many SCP-D: 0-1 instances possess unique anomalous abilities, including but not limited to: localized electromagnetic disruption, data corruption via touch, minor spatial distortion, and the ability to traverse solid objects by briefly "digitizing" their forms.
Addendum D:0.1 - Discovery and Initial Incident Log:
SCP-D: 0 was first identified on ██/██/20██, following widespread reports of unusual electrical interference and the spontaneous appearance of "graphic anomalies" within the vicinity of the [REDACTED] server farm in Silicon Valley. Foundation assets embedded within technology firms reported multiple eyewitness accounts of small, pixilated creatures resembling early 8-bit sprites manifesting in server rooms.
Incident D:0.1-A (██/██/20██): The first confirmed SCP-D: 0 emergence. A small, cubic entity (SCP-D: 0-1-A) approximately 10 cm on each side materialized directly onto a server rack. It emitted a high-pitched, oscillating tone that caused localized data corruption in nearby hard drives. Foundation response teams secured the area and successfully neutralized the entity, which dissipated into a shower of green and black "pixels."
Incident D:0.1-B (██/██/20██): A significantly larger, bipedal SCP-D: 0-1 instance (SCP-D: 0-1-B), resembling a heavily armored humanoid composed of shimmering polygonal plates, emerged near a major internet exchange point in [REDACTED]. This instance displayed extreme hostility, tearing through fiber optic cables and damaging network infrastructure before being engaged by MTF Lambda-9. Its anomalous strength and ability to phase through walls made neutralization difficult. SCP-D: 0-1-B was eventually incapacitated by a concentrated burst of high-frequency sound, causing it to collapse and dissolve into a pool of what appeared to be liquid crystal.
Ongoing monitoring indicates a slight increase in both the frequency and complexity of SCP-D: 0-1 emergences, raising concerns about the potential for larger, more dangerous entities to cross over, and the long-term impact of a growing population of uncontainable digital lifeforms in baseline reality.
