    The volcano rumbled like a hungry beast. Kai could feel the smoke breathing down his neck. Lloyds screams were almost drowned out by the crumbling sound of rock as the volcano ate itself alive.
    Kai could see the silver fang blade slipping into the molten lava. Lloyds pleading face looked at him from across the Lava.
    Kai weighted the options in his head. His choices under pressure could be notoriously terrible, but with the heat rising up his spine, he knew what he had to do.
    He just Hated that he had to do it
    He grabbed the fang blade and ran

     

    Or alternatively: what if Kai had chosen the fang blade over Lloyd and never reached his true potential? What if Lloyd, angry and bitter about being left behind and mad at himself for not being good enough to save, woke up in the cursed realm?
