Summary
Gol D. Roger had been to many ports over his lifetime as a pirate. All of them were different, and yet the same. They had different foods, but they all had food stalls. Different people, but they were always merchants, marines, prostitutes, other pirates, and so on. The ‘flavor’ of each port was different, but it was still a port. And Roger loved it. Loved to see each new port. To explore it and see what it had to offer. Roger even had ports that he loved to visit because of something or someone there. This particular port didn’t have such a thing. Yet.

Summary
Of all the lessons Shanks had received since coming aboard the Oro Jackson, reading and writing had to be among his least favorite subjects. Unfortunately for him, Shanks finds himself stuck in the library with orders to not leave it until he’s finished with his daily homework. Even more unfortunate, is that apparently reading comprehension doesn’t come quite as easily to Shanks as it does to his blue haired companion. Thankfully, Buggy is willing to lend Shanks a hand so that they can both be free to enjoy the rest of their day without Rayleigh breathing down their backs. Reading with Shanks is definitely a pain sometimes, but even Buggy has to admit that it’s never quite as fun without his friend.

Summary
Ever since he arrived on the Oro Jackson, Buggy had always been an incredibly shy and nervous kid, especially around people he’s never met before, and the Whitebeard Pirates were no exception. Of course, like many kids, it's not impossible to lure Buggy out of the tightly sealed shell he tends to lock himself in whenever he’s confronted with people he’s not comfortable with, granted you have the proper incentive to get him to open up, that is. Lucky for Whitebeard, a slight MIA scare following a friendly scuffle reveals exactly the incentive he needs to get Buggy to open up. Who knew that a kid could get so excited over something as simple as a Library?
Alternatively titled: Buggy goes missing during a fight, Roger panics over losing his boy and goes looking for him, finds him in the most predictable place possible, and then has to make sure that Whitebeard doesn’t abduct him and Shanks because he thinks the boys are cute and wants them to be his new adorable little sons.

Summary
After finding himself grounded on the ship, forced to look after Shanks and Buggy after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit, Roger resigns himself to a very boring and uneventful night while the rest of the crew head off to the nearest brothel. Roger’s night takes an unexpectedly pleasant turn however, when he learns of the massive fair that the island was hosting. Despite his instructions to stay on the ship unless it was actually on fire, what kind of father-figure would Roger be if he didn’t take his two favorite cabin boys and reward them for all the hard work they did on the ship, in the form of terrifying metal contraptions that hurled you hundreds of feet into the air, only to fling you right back down, cheap and greasy carnival food that’ll rot your insides if you’re not careful, and memories of laughter, fun, and happiness, that Roger, Shanks, and Buggy will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Alternatively titled: My favorite fanfic writers don’t know how to let my favorite characters be happy, so I gotta balance out all the angst with a happy, feel good, tooth-rottingly fluffy fic that no one asked for but I’m supplying to you anyways because I fucking can.

Roger: “What do you have?”
Buggy: “A bomb!”

Summary
Across the wavy seas, stretching from the tiniest island village, to the largest and most powerful nations, there are stories told of a crew of women, sailing unrestrained and free to wherever their hearts desire. But these are not joyous tales like the ones shared and sang over the gorgeous mermaids of fish man island, for these women, although equally as beautiful some would argue, are not nearly as kind as their mermaid sisters. While very few have ever actually met the deadly crew of women who inspired the fearsome stories told, and even fewer who made it back with their lives, those who lived to tell the tale have will always warn the blissfully ignorant to heed the stories they hear in the local taverns, and to always beware the deadly song that echoes from the sirens of the Golden Spades.
Alternatively titled: Rouge is a badass and Roger wants to fight her but then he gets his ass beat so he ends up falling in love with her.

Summary
A ricochet (/ˈrɪkəʃeɪ/ RIK-ə-shay; French: [ʁikɔʃɛ]) is a rebound, bounce, or skip off a surface, particularly in the case of a projectile, such as a bullet.
If you had told Roger 10 years ago that he’d one day magically gain some sort of magical power that attracted misfortuned orphans to him like a moth to flame, he’d have likely laughed directly in your face before slamming your head into the ground. The last decade of his life however, has only served to prove that initial statement, if the two scrappy little boys he’s adopted and raised as his own for the last 6 years says anything about it. Although the Roger pirates, and Roger himself, are more than happy with the two lovable bundles of energy they already have on their hands, how would the crew react if they happened upon another disillusioned and unfortunate youngster in need of a hot meal, a warm bed, and some positive male role models to look after them?
I for one, think it’s about time we found out.

Summary
Before he was the strongest, before he was a Warlord, before he was the most famous sword fighter the world had ever known, Mihawk was a child. A child who decided to travel the world and become the strongest swordsman. To do that, he needed to challenge the Dark King, the first mate of the Roger Pirates, whose Captain had a habit of adopting any young orphan who happened to come across his path. Mihawk didn’t know about that last part, nor did he know that the Dark King might soon be following his Captain’s example, and taking a fledgling of his own under his wings for a change.

Summary
For as long as he could remember, Buggy has always been a shadow.
The shadows were like home for people like Buggy, for people too small and weak to ever shine as brightly as people like Roger or Shanks, who could split the heavens themselves with little more than a glance if they so choose. But this was never an issue for Buggy. The shadows were safety, comfort, and a place where he became the hunter rather than the hunted.
Unfortunately, the shadows were never as kind to others as they were to Buggy. The innocent civilians forced to live in fear underneath corrupt rulers were never provided the warmth and safety that the shadows provided Buggy. During his travels with the Roger Pirates, Buggy has seen this cruelty unfold many times before, on many islands, in many kingdoms, and was forced to watch helplessly, every single time, as innocent civilians are ripped from their homes and families, tortured for their so-called “king’s” amusement.
No more.
If the shadows won’t protect the innocent people of the world from the corruption and cruelty of it’s supposed leaders, then perhaps it's time for Buggy to step up and do it for them.
Perhaps it’s time for the shadow to step out into the light.

Summary
Before they knew of the man who sought to rid the world of the corruption and evil that plagued it; before the man extended his hand to them in friendship and salvation; before they, the once forgotten and discarded, banded together, unified in their life-long quest to free others in the same way they had once been freed, they were people. But that is a much larger story for a much different day.
These are but the tales of the once lost and begotten souls who’d been cast aside by society, in one way or another, prior to their introduction to, and inevitable alignment with, the not-so-mythical shadow they’d heard so much about. Before they knew of the man who sought to rid the world of the corruption and evil that plagued it, before the man extended his hand to them in friendship and salvation, and before they banded together, unified in their life-long quest to follow and aid the man who set them free, they heard their call to join The Shadows.
Can you hear yours?
Alternatively titled: Buggy commits federal crimes and gets a cult following because of it. These are their stories.
