Summary
The year is 1942 and after more than a century of relative peace, Europe has been thrown into war once again. As Britain begins to enter the conflict, Temeraire finds himself in the middle of dozens of people, offices, and even governments that wish to solicit his advice on how to best end this war before it consumes the world. However, he feels overwhelmed by this responsibility and wants nothing more than to retire from the public eye even as he knows that's not truly an option.
It was a average autumn day when Temeraire took some time to visit the resting spot of his dearly departed companion. And it was at this time, when Temeraire wished for nothing more than to have his steady guidance once more in his life, that the impossible happened.
A miracle made flesh.
William Laurence has been brought back from the dead; just as Britain, and Temeraire, needs him the most. -

More than two decades later in 1940, the world is engulfed in a new war against the Mundus Empire, an invading force from another dimension. Having conquered the Southern Hemisphere and steadily expanding its territory, the Mundus Empire has finally set its sights on the Northern Hemisphere.
The United States Pacific Fleet is annihilated off the coast of Hawaii, and the Imperial Japanese Navy’s vaunted Combined Fleet suffers a crushing defeat at the hands of the Mundus Empire’s fleet that has invaded the Truk Islands.
Cornered, the Combined Fleet is relieved by the arrival of a secret fleet of battleships and warships that were supposed to have been sunk as targets under the Washington Naval Treaty, including the battleship Tosa and the German ships that scuttled themselves at Scapa Flow.
