Summary
Jemima knew what she should want. And it was easy to look at the future and see the path her mother saw: uni just in case, then marriage, then kids. She’d have a husband with a good job and a house with a garden and make biscuits for the school bake sale and take a holiday by the sea once a year.
She could see herself slotting into that life so easily that there were days she could even convince herself that it was what she wanted.
