Summary
How did Johanna Mason end up winning the 71st Hunger Games? What were the consequences?
Excerpt:
“What’re they doing?” Heather murmured.
“What?” I glanced over to her but she had her eyes ahead, to the stage and Safreen.
District 7’s escort was currently in a deep conversation with our Head Peacekeeper Seane. He had a finger outstretched, pointing across the crowd. For a moment, I checked behind myself, searching for his target. But it was only once I looked back that I realized he was pointing at me.
Safreen was squinting out at me, gesturing in my direction. They spoke quickly. Safreen shook her head but Seane was nodding sharply. He pointed up to the screen they had hanging above them. The Capitol’s seal glinted from it.
And then I understood what was happening. -

Summary
Even here, in this room where the Capitol has fabricated, for me, an illusion of safety, I know I'm dead. Every step I take, there's a rope hanging round my neck.
And they know it too.
I've made my way out of a hundred scrapes back in Seven; I've done everything expected of me, to survive. But there's no way in hell Johanna Mason is making it out of the Games alive.
The only thing left to decide is what they'll bury me in.

Summary
When twelve-year old Elijah Banner was Reaped for the Seventieth Annual Hunger Games, eighteen-year-old Zandera Galloway made a decision that changed her life forever. After surviving her Games despite her best attempts to send Elijah home instead, she is rather unceremoniously thrust into the world of mentoring and must either adapt to this new world, or else flounder and fail her new tributes. With fellow District Four victors Mags Flanagan, Olea Madden, Madoc Brine, and Finnick Odair by her side, she just might have enough help to stay afloat. But will President Snow find a way to sweep her under again?

Summary
So basically this takes place from when Johanna is reaped for the Hunger Games to after Mockingjay and she goes to District 2 with Gale to help rebuild and keep the peace. Johanna's character is a little reimagined, she's a blonde, she wasn't always so strong and brave, this follows her becoming strong/brave. OK SO:
Johanna is reaped for the 71st Hunger Games along with her district partner Alder Finch. Alder Finch is high key malicious and sticks with the career pack. The arena is super cool (TRUST) and Johanna gets a super detailed backstory and family. After the games she forms a friendship with Finnick, drama ensues with Snows victor trafficking. Johanna meets Gale in District 13, they bond over their shared violent hatred for the capitol. There's lowkey a love triangle with Gale and Finnick fighting (respectfully) over Johanna. Following Mockinjay, she reunites with Gale in District 2.
Also Gale and Finnick and basically every character isn't introduced until later, for the first bit its legit just Johanna and her games.
This is my first fic, but I promise I have so many ideas it will be good just bear with me for a second. ANY advice is appreciated, but please be kind! -

“They can’t hurt me. I’m not like the rest of you. There’s no one left I love” Johanna Mason, Catching Fire
Johanna Mason is going to die. When you get reaped for the Hunger Games in district 7, you can expect that. There’s only ever been three winners from there, after all. But she’s not going to give up. Shes not going to let her face be just another projection in the sky. But to do so, she might have to become everything she despises. Because in the Arena, everyone has the potential to be a monster.

Summary
Even at the ripe age of thirteen, Johanna had been a cynic. Maybe it had been due to being shipped around camp to camp her whole life, or just the general state of the nation, but she was always angry about something. However, her scowls and biting remarks had never been enough to scare off Angelica, who continued to talk her head off about anything she could. How delicious the soup was for dinner, how her blisters from work this morning were beginning to turn yellow, and if Johanna were a leaf, what kind of leaf would she be. Obviously, Johanna wouldn’t be a leaf at all, she would be a pine needle, Angelica decided. Eventually, Johanna realized that she preferred to hear insufferable talking over insufferable silence during long shifts in the forest.
It also didn’t hurt that Angelica had the most beautiful brown eyes.

Summary
An account of the 71st Hunger Games, as told by Johanna Mason.
-
“Johanna Mason.”
I don’t hear it, not immediately. It takes a second for the chill to settle into my chest. My heart begins to hammer wildly, a jackrabbit pounding its feet against the inside of my ribcage. I blink a few times, unable to do anything but stare. I squeeze my hands into fists. My nails bite into the meat of my palms, and I feel the give of my skin splitting beneath them, like bark yields to an ax.
I'm doomed.

Summary
This world is easy for her, with her ax. When she's bored she swings it and pretends she’s fighting monsters or protecting a princess. When she is angry she grabs the ax and chops logs; as she swings and swings and swings she can pretend it is not wood she’s cutting, but some physical form of what it is that’s making her rage. When she’s nine, she imagines her annoying classmate Lawrence Simmons’ face on the log, and the log after that, and by evening her parents are pleased at how much work she’s done.
When she’s ten, she pretends it’s a peacekeeper’s head she’s chopping, and sometimes it’s President Snow’s: it’s at the age of ten what she realizes 'killing game' means, and that once someone is dead, they don’t come back.

Summary
There’s people who are brave enough to ask. Stupid enough. Suicidal and looking for a way out through death by Johanna Mason, perhaps. She doesn’t give a shit whether it’s ballsy or self-sacrificial or just plain invasive and a show of an utter lack of decorum; the fact is that every now and then, someone wants to know how a little girl with crooked teeth who smiles in pictures becomes someone like Johanna.
That doesn't stop Peeta from trying.
That doesn't stop Johanna from eventually getting drunk and giving in.
AKA: The Johanna Mason backstory and character study. The miseducation of Johanna Mason, if you will.

Summary
“I was always the one to beat,” I tell him. “I’m sorry that you forgot.”
Eighteen-year-old Johanna Mason has what it takes to survive the Hunger Games, but she’s not going to let anyone know it. Least of all the audience, who she eyes with thinly veiled hatred. But to make it out of the arena in once piece, she’s going to have to put on the show of a lifetime.
