Council Races-Humans: Aberrants; Few species have had worse experiences with the "mutants" that novas often become when using uncontrolled powers (reference file: Biotic Powers: Nova/Quantum) and have managed to recover so completely than humanity. The high variability of the different types of biotics combined with their low manifestation rate until their 21st Century meant that the governments of the time were unprepared for the paucity of novas and other biotics. While many novas remained friendly to other humans, many novas started to see themselves as a different species entirely and reject controls on their powers, leading to greater rates of quantum taint, until eventually the species collapsed into a civil war that left much of their homeworld uninhabitable and nearly lead to a ruinous First Contact with the turians."
