Ash frowns, glancing at the bundle of fabric in his hands. “Yeah, well, I’m not trying to impress anyone.”
“Oh, really?” Eiji teases, leaning in slightly. “Because it seems like you’re trying awfully hard not to make a mess when I’m around.”

Luffy runs off into Amazon Lily and before Jinbe catches up to him, he runs into this time machine that Vegapunk built. Why's it on Amazon Lily? Because it malfunctioned and over the course of several years, ended up there, unbeknownst to its residents. It's still malfunctioning, which is why Luffy repeats the events of the Amazon Lily & Impel Down arcs without actually having to return to the machine.
