Conan let his anxieties about injecting every hour with entertainment go. Snuggled in bed wearing only his boxers and Francis' limbs, even a few months ago this cozy configuration wouldn’t have been possible.
Their first time. Both shy. Reasons varied but results the same. Francis bundled under the blankets. Conan calling from the bathroom, “Are you ready? Can I come in?”
The tremulous, “...Yeah.” A single syllable forever imprinted on Conan’s soul.
Francis suppressed his fear. Prayed Conan couldn’t detect his pulse. A boxing beat below his flesh in a hundred tense spots. Yearning for Conan, yes. But also thumping constant dissonance. A clanging cacophony which severed his body and mind.
Conan’s sizable hands sought him in the shadows. A radar of want. Invisible yet understood as they combined. Neither totally present or gone. But hoping, hoping for a future when speckled skin and a war within might surrender.
