Summary
Finally, darkness has fallen on this shortest night of the year. Litha, the night of the summer solstice, a mythical night of celebration and magic. The villagers have lit the bonfires, and music and singing invites to dance and make merry. Soon, couples will jump the fire together, a good omen for their relationship if they succeed.
However, not everybody's eyes are turned toward the fires and the celebrating crowd in their best traditional garments, no. Two beautiful, identical-looking young girls with colourful flower wreaths in their hair gaze toward the dark shadow of the nearby forest. They nod at each other. Then, hand in hand, they sneak away from the bonfires and festivities. It cannot be long until midnight now, the magical hour when, for a very short time, the flower of the fern will bloom in the deepest, most magical parts of the wilderness. And they will find it.
OR: The night of the summer solstice goes very different for Coën and Cahir than planned.

Coën groans. Judging by how tired he feels, he cannot have slept for long, maybe an hour or two. Something has woken him up. A sound like the whetting of a blade. Cahir is not sharpening his sword in the middle of the night, is he? Groggily, he blinks his eyes open.
"Hmm, how strange. This has never happened before. Why are you not out cold like your friend?"
For a moment, Coën stares at the tall blonde man, disoriented. Then his memory clicks into place. Soren. The cottage in the heath. The delicious meal and the nice guest room with the one bed. Cahir snuggled up close to him. Fuck, this is not the bed he fell asleep in, he suddenly realises. It feels like he is lying on a wooden table instead, and his hands— Dammit, what is going on here? And where is Cahir?
Coën and Cahir have found shelter from the thunderstorm in a shepherd's cottage and spent a nice evening there with Soren, its friendly owner. However, not everything is as it seems ... (Sequel to "Too Good to be True?")

She cries when she says goodbye to Geralt and Yennefer, silent tears sliding down her face, leaving tracks through the blood and the grime. She knows that she’s lost and has to do this so that they might live. She could resist, and they would die, and she might not be able to escape, would still be a captive, or spend her life running, or she could surrender, and they will live.
She can hold onto that thought, tuck it away like a jewel to hold onto for when it all feels hopeless. She doesn’t want to know what it feels like to live in a world bereft of them.

It is a beautiful night, fair summer weather, the air balmy, the sky clear and sprinkled with stars. The perfect night for the village's traditional Lammas celebrations, the feast of first fruits. However, unlike in the neighbouring villages and the years past, there are no bonfires here today. No corn dolls to be burned and bulls or horses to be sacrificed as an offering to the gods. No ritual dances or athletic competitions are held or blueberry loaves baked in the village bake house. This year there is no matchmaking and rolling about in the hay. For the village is in mourning, the villagers terrified. And very much in need of a Witcher. Lucky for them, one has just arrived.
This is the story of Cahir's first solo monster hunt.
