Summary
Everybody was enjoying themselves, stuck in their little worlds with the glass shell of alcohol being the only thing protecting them. Some danced in the corners, others laughed around the tables, and the last were looking wistfully outside.
Cawdor drank more wine and suddenly found that he hated it, because it was poured by the hands of those loyal to the king, and he found the goblet gaudy and horrible, because it was carved with the king in mind. All he could feel was a pervading sense of hatred or guilt- probably a combination of the two- and he was sick to his stomach.
