“What’s got you in such a good mood?” Jayce asked, breaking the silence. He didn’t think it would elicit the reaction that he received. Viktor suddenly stiffened to Jayce’s presence and stood up from where he was, his eyes wide with what Jayce could only perceive to be fear. The creation Vitkor was working on dropped out of his hands and onto the wooden floorboards. It hit the ground with a clamouring thud and within moments Viktor was already out the door and gone from Jayce’s line of view.
There were no words exchanged.
No explanation.
Just a broken wind-up toy that was scattered across the laboratory floor.
