But this wasn’t the Tom Riddle Harry remembered. This boy claiming himself Magnus Thomas Riddle, was so startlingly different from Voldemort. His smile was warm, his kindness genuine, and his actions untainted by darkness. As Harry watches this supposed son of Voldemort forge his own path, he realises that while Magnus may be his father’s reflection, he is unbound by the shadows his father cast.

Summary
Lord Voldemort survives October 31, 1981.
Harry Potter goes into hiding, smuggled out of the country by his godfather, Sirius Black.
Twenty-five years later, Britain is flourishing under the Dark Lord’s reign. But Harry Potter is still alive, out there somewhere, and so Lord Voldemort sends his trusty locket Horcrux on an overseas mission to remove the last remaining threat to their immortality.
Tom finds Harry living in Texas under the assumed name Harry Evans, playing professional Quodpot. He hasn’t grown up under the threat of a war, has had no combat training or formal dueling instruction.
It should be simple enough to kill him, right?

The tap drips again. Tom takes a deep breath. He almost cries out when Potter grabs the bullet with the tweezers.
"Sorry," he says.
Tom knows for a fact that Potter most definitely is not.
He's wearing those glasses again. Tom wants to ask him to take them off.
He bites down on his belt with all his strength as Potter starts to pull out the bullet. How it stings, he feels like he can only pass out from the pain. His lungs are on fire, it's impossible to breathe.
"Breathe."
Tom takes a breath in.
