This little brain blorb has been jangling around my head. DL6 didn't happen and the childhood friends stayed friends. Shenanigans ensue.
I LOVE THEM.
I wanted to explore that beautiful friendship dynamic that we see so little of in the franchise. And this is mostly just silly domestic friendship stuff aside from Phoenix pining for Miles HARD. (and vise versa but he doesn't know that just yet.) There is a bit of a trauma jump scare that I'm planning a little further in. But hey! You don't need to worry about that right now :D
(The trauma will lead to better things, trust.)
For the most part it's just a buncha college aged boys dicking around. And Maya is there to bully the shit out of them (in a funny sibling way).
P.S The eventual smut is real and it gets a lil crazy be prepared. 😋

It's so surreal, being attended to by Miles Edgeworth. Just when I start to believe he’s totally ambivalent to my existence, he goes and pulls a stunt like this. Do I finally have a shot at starting to get close with him? Can I take that as a given now that he’s rushed to my side from countries away like this? Will he pull back into the shade of retreat if, later on, I call him or ask him to lunch like I keep wishing I had the courage to?

He is… he is… someone I would never forget if he went missing from my life. And yet, he is also someone with whom I struggle to converse. Even after the reformation of my credo, he is someone who still visits unease and uncertainty upon me. Miles Edgeworth was dreaming.
He had to be, there was no other logical explanation, surely he couldn’t be awake if Phoenix was touching him so gently, kissing him with such reverence, like he was something to be treasured and honored. Phoenix’s hands cup his cheek, cradle the nape of his neck where it’s lifted off of the back of his couch, they flit down to grip the sleeve of the sweater that hugs his shoulders- the sweater who’s previous warmth and comfort is quickly becoming stifling and constricting.

At ten years old, Miles had woken up alone in a hospital bed on December 28th and been told that his father was dead. The memory had stuck with him like bloodstains on a white dress shirt, but it hadn't exactly been a surprise. Some part of him had known the moment he had woken up alone that his father was gone.
The same bone-deep inexplicable knowing could not be said of Phoenix's confession. There was no part of Miles Edgeworth that had even remotely expected to hear those words, on that day or any other. He had long ago resigned himself to the idea that his feelings would never be reciprocated. The realization that apparently he had been completely wrong this whole time refused to sink in.

In a moment of bravery and emptiheadedness, Phoenix confesses his feelings to Miles. How can Miles get what he wants when he's not even entirely sure what that is?
