However, he has to determine if his fellow double-o has truly betrayed them and his attempt at his final mission may just be that – his actual final mission.

Or that it would take him into the very belly of Her Majesty's Secret Intelligence Service?
He couldn't know. All he knew when he sent his son away, was that he came far too close to losing him. Everything that came after, was allowed - so long as Stiles survived.
Even if it meant taking on a new name, a new territory to call his own, and a new vocation that would lead him into far more danger than he ever would've encountered in tiny little Beacon Hills.
All the good sheriff ever asked was that his son survive.
Thankfully, in time, he'd have some help with that. 00-help. Though whether that was a blessing or a curse, only time would tell.

The reminder of the Major’s death, the kindly old beta who saw him for him, brought tears to his eyes, and he desperately hoped that the smoke would hide it.
“... Okay. Who do I give it to?”
“It’s quite a few years ahead of schedule, and quite frankly I’m not even sure if it’s going to work, but Boothroyd always spoke highly of you and you are one of the very few TSS workers still remaining. I’ve spoken to R, the only survivor with seniority over you, and she is quite adamant to remain in her current position with your approval... Which leaves you”.
M held out a pen.
“Quartermaster”.Or, “I don’t just have one alpha”. Q grinned, bloody and feral. “I have nine. They’re called the double-0 program; perhaps you’ve heard of them?”

To be clear-- it isn't the fucking middle ages anymore. James has not a clue why the insipid Quartermaster was denying him of the gadgets he was oh so proud of. For goodness sake, the pencil pistol he spotted 004 with the day prior was a marvel and the fact he hadn't been outfitted with it was an outrage.
It would be easy, James thought, as the two Dominants stared each other down. Killing Q would certainly not put him back in M's good graces, however, and with a barely restrained snarl the elegant agent spun on his heel and stalked out of the Engineers Tent.

Before Q could rationally think his actions through, he had reassembled the gun and had it loaded in a blink. It was loaded, aimed and ready to fire– even taking the few centimetres it leaned to the left in account.
“You seem to keep forgetting I am the one to have built the weapon you are here to return to TSS. Personally.”
Q lowered the gun and dismantled it just as easily as he had before, laying out the pieces on a tray and picking it up. He had to push past 006 who was still standing in the doorway, his eyes following Q as he moved to carry the tray back to the main workshop area.
“Well? What are you waiting for? I don’t have all night.” Q leaned on the workbench, peering at 006 sharply.
A look of amusement broke through 006’s otherwise stern facade. “Marry me.”
Pausing, Q blinked. “Did you just… Did you just proposition to your superior officer?”
006 nodded, grinning brightly.
“Drop your mission gear onto the workbench and get out of my Branch.” Q ordered, “Before I change my mind and shoot you.”
