Summary
The rubber of the tires burns against the asphalt of the lot.
Decades old asphalt, laid before either of them had been a twinkle in the balls of their daddies, fracturing into ravines and crevices and giant craters and pot holes that were big enough to comfortably bury a body or two. But it was the only place left where they could be without too much hassle. And it was a day where hassle was not welcome.
The beat up old muscle-car screams to a halt over the grit of the asphalt, shifting beneath him like uneven planks - like great chunks of obsidian floating atop a heavy sea. Joel groans, throwing his head back against the old seat that almost buckles under him.
Jimmy should be here. Should be here to work on the car. Should be here to work on their one way out of this hellhole - an idyllic little village/town in the English countryside, the kind of place that only just got a single maccies.
But no, he’s off on his hot date with that dork from the archive...
