Only the intervention of Gandalf and elves from Rivendell managed to save both Belladonna and Bilbo Baggins, pulling them back from the shadow and into life.

    But no one touches death without consequences and Bilbo Baggins was forever changed by those moments spent in the arms of the Valar.

    Raised as a sensible Baggins with that wild Took streak nurtured from the start, growing up friends with elves and a very nosy wizard, and having faced the horrors of the Fell Winter, it is a very different Bilbo Baggins that steps out his front door.

    And this is a very different adventure.

    This is a story I’ve been working on for quite some time, and I’m so excited to finally share it with you all. It follows a different path than the movie, though some scenes may feel similar as the story unfolds. In this version, all characters survive, and the battle at the end of the third Hobbit movie hasn’t taken place yet—at least not up to the point I’ve written.

    I really hope you enjoy reading this fanfic as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. I’ll do my best to update the story regularly, and I’m always open to tips and suggestions.

    Balin made a noncommittal sound in the back of his throat. It was times like these that clearly showed how much longer and better he knew their king than his younger brother did.
    “He has to face reality, as we all do”, Dwalin continued on. “Bilbo’s gone and won’t return and all we can do is try tend to our wounds. It’s what Bilbo would have wanted. That we help each other heal.”
    ”You’re right, it's what Bilbo would have wanted us to do…

    Ori, who along with his siblings, is considered to be the height of beauty. This mattered very little to the Master Scribe, until he overhears a few unsavory dwarrow speaking ill of the line of Durin, especially Fíli in particular. Fíli, who is his best friend, and a long held secret love of his.

    Though not fond of large events, particularly balls, the youngest 'Ri decides it's finally time for him to go to one and attempt to save his best friend before it's too late.
