No one on Berk has ever viewed Tuffnut Thorston as smart. Lack of spatial awareness? Definitely. Remarkable ability to set anything on fire? Obviously. The reincarnation of the trickiest Norse god of legend? That was more like it. But no one on Berk viewed Hiccup as anything but those things until he managed to train and ride a Night Fury, so Tuffnut has some hope.
