The Undercover Heroes was a secret program within UA for heroes in training but the public doesn't know their true identities. Principal Nezu would seek out potential heroes that he finds could be good for the program and invites them. Currently, there were only seven members, one of them being Akaashi Keiji.
But Akaashi didn't grow up an amazing life, his quirk made it so people didn't trust him entirely.
This is his backstory and how he became the undercover hero known as Mystic.

"I'm just here because you paid me," Semi grumbles as he drags the last bin out to the grassy area located behind Shiratorizawa. "I don't think this is a good idea, just saying."

So, Atsumu is stuck in North Korea. He’s not extremely proud of how it happened. But hey! That will make for a stunning Buzzfeed interview.

Atsumu turns toward the display case, letting Nekomata continue to lie on the cold, checkered floor.
“C’mon, what’s yer’ favorite?”
“We’re not doing this.”
“Sure we are,” Atsumu says, tapping on the glass of the shattered display. “You can tell a lot about a man by his favorite donut.”
“Like what? His blood sugar?”
“Let me guess.. plain glazed guy. Or wait…” He eye rolls. “Yup. Plain fried dough.”
“I don’t eat donuts.”
“Oooof course.”
Atsumu reaches over the counter, grabs the least destroyed donut, and takes a bite anyway. “Mm. Could use more sugar.”
Sakusa scowls. “How about we stop fucking around and address the dead body in the room?”
once the beloved mecha man, sakusa kiyoomi is reassigned as the dispatcher for the z-team, a squad of ex-villains he’s meant to guide into becoming heroes. his job gets complicated when ex-villain metamorphé- atsumu miya- proves impossible to ignore, leaving sakusa struggling to stay professional when the past and present keep colliding in his headset.

Of the twenty-four competitors, only one may stand as victorious, while the other twenty-three are eliminated in the process of trying to win. Or in other words; of trying to survive. It was a fight to the death in order to win. Kill, or be killed. And this year, the participants are ruthless, vengeful and determined to survive. It was nothing but a bloody struggle for victory.

A glint flashes in Ushijima’s eyes–something almost unrecognisable..

"On this, the third Quarter Quell Games," the president declared. “I am announcing that tributes are to be reaped from the existing pool of Victors in each district. Victors shall present themselves on Reaping Day, regardless of age, state of health, or situation, and this time, the number of boys and girls reaped need not be equal, proving that the Capitol has the power to redefine the rules as it sees fit."
