People die all the time, but they don't get hurt (usually). The world can watch them fight for their lives, breaking the barricades of reality where reality is controlled by the world.
Dusty still didn't know how he got here. In a matter of speaking, he had no other options. He only hoped, as he stepped out terrified into an abandoned digital city, that if he should be killed he wouldn't really die. He really just hoped he'd never have to be killed at all.
