Summary
After returning from Afghanistan Buck and Eddie move to LA to put down roots and in the process build the family they deserve, not the ones they were born with.
-
“What are you doing here?” Buck asked, “I thought you were going to station six?”
Eddie had that shit eating grin he got whenever he was being a cheeky bastard, “Last minute change of plans.” He gave a faux nonchalant shrug.
Suddenly Buck’s face fell into a suspicious glare, “You’re not fucking with me, are you? Rocking up to tease me with those abs of yours and then fucking off to your actual station?”
Eddie’s smile turned fond, enough confirmation that this was for real, “No, I’m here for good.”
“Good, I’ll introduce you then.” Eddie followed Buck as he led him back to the small group, “Everyone this is Eddie Diaz, Eddie this is Hen, Bobby and Chimney.”
“I didn’t realise you two knew each other.” Bobby said, analysing the two of them.
Eddie and Buck began to laugh in unison, “Know each other?” Buck said, speaking through the laugh.
“We share a mortgage.” Eddie finished for him.

This is what I imagine what could’v/should’ve happened after Eddie got shot. With Buck figuring out he loves Eddie but Eddie panicking and not understanding how he feels.

Summary
Buck and Tommy have been back to work for about three months when Bertie turns six months old. He can’t believe his baby is half a year old already! They have a party in the backyard to celebrate, members of the 118, the 217, and the 133 mingling and passing the guest of honor around. Buck is glad they have a relatively large yard, because it turns out that three firehouses adds up to a lot of people. They have Bertie’s pack and play out on the lawn, but she doesn’t end up spending any time in it, thanks to all the people wanting to hold her.

Summary
Buck knew without a doubt that if any one of his friends or family could be in his mind for even a second they’d go mad. The constant screaming, the repeated phrases of his greatest hits—they’d never survive it. He doesn’t even know if he can survive it.
When he got like this in the past, it was always easily cured with a quick text to Bobby or plopping onto the Diaz couch with a beer and a sigh. Except neither of those things were possible anymore.
Bobby was gone
Chris was gone
Eddie was gone
Bobby is gone.Everyone left, everyone had someone, but Buck’s someone is gone and even when he was here, Buck was terrified of being too much, doing too much, until even Bobby gave up on him. It had happened before and not just with Bobby.
(Or: Buck is struggling more than anyone knows, and the 8x17 fight and Buck’s need to take back control over his life manifests physically)

Summary
Their first week at home is a special time, despite the sleep deprivation and increasing chaos in their usually neat house. It seems like there’s always laundry going, the dishes are piling up in the sink, and showers are delayed for days—usually until Tommy has a PT appointment to go to. Despite all of that, they’re deliriously happy to have Bertie finally with them.

Summary
"Now you're scaring me, baby. You're not gonna divorce me, are you?"
Buck pulled Eddie closer by the waist, pressing soft kisses to the corner of his mouth, tip of his nose, the mole beneath his eye, murmuring, "Just so you know, I won't agree. I don't know how to survive without you." Eddie gently placed his hand on Buck's chest and created some distance between them. Buck stepped back reluctantly, still leaning in to close the gap, when Eddie's next question made him freeze rigidly like the Roman marble statues they'd seen in Italy.
"Um..we aren't married?"
"......What do you mean we aren't married?!"
Or, Buck has been married to Eddie for a year. One day, he wakes up and finds himself in a universe where he and Eddie are just best friends.

Summary
Most of the 118 are lawyers in this AU, except for Eddie, who is a television star on a show run by Tommy Kinard, an evil man who destroyed the show by killing off its main character and refusing to follow through with obvious foreshadowing and character development in prior episodes. I hate Tommy, so he's a stand-in for someone else here (which you can guess all on your own). This self-indulgent story is the story of how Buddie begins -- both as lovers and, eventually, as something other than the careers they have in this alternate universe. It is not RPF and differences are intentional.

Buck went to Bobby and told him, “He- he touches me,” and Bobby’s eyebrows rose.
“No, not like that,” Buck said.

Summary
“I love you. Buck, baby, I love you. You have made me, and my son, the luckiest people in the world by being in our lives.” Eddie whispers into the radio, fighting to breathe in the smoke that clouds him.
As unfair it is to leave him behind, he must let go. It's unfair to keep Buck waiting when it's not going to be long. Hope is the most poisonous in the moments before it is broken, and he will not condemn Buck to that kind of suffering.
He goes with a smile on his face, and the taste of salt and ash on his lips.
—
“Why do you think you'll never love again?” Dr. Copeland asks, words careful and measured. “You have many years ahead of you, surely you don't think you will never meet a person capable of loving you in the future.”
He knows that people have multiple loves of their lives. After their partner dies, people date again, marry again, and move on. He knows that moving on isn't forgetting the ones you've lost. He knows all of that, but he also knows what waking up beside Eddie feels like.
He doesn't think he'll ever find a feeling that compares.
or; Eddie leaves in a blaze of glory, and Buck must now spend his life learning to live in the ashes that remain.

Summary
He could only stare numbly at his best friend as he laid dying in the street, his forbidden blood pooling around him like spilled ink on paper.
He could taste it in his mouth. A deep syrupy flavour, not what he thought it would be like. When he was warned against tainted blood, no one ever said how good it might taste. Even in his shocked state, Buck wanted another taste, another mouthful of the poisoned chalice.

Summary
Mehta thinks that, of all the other stations, he liaises with the 118 the most. It’s weird: he can’t remember the last time he had an operation with the 134, and it’s been months since he ran into someone with the 132, and those are his neighbours. But the 118, far away as they are, always seem to pop up. So he’s not surprised to see two of the 118 on his scene when he pulls up, even though it is surprising. He just assumes, well, it’s typical 118 stuff. And it is.
Until it isn’t.

Summary
That meant the only person left to tell was Bobby- unfortunately, Chief Simpson found out about it first…
For their three month anniversary, Eddie had taken Buck to a new Italian restaurant where they thought they would avoid bumping into anyone they knew… unfortunately, as they shared a quick kiss in their supposedly secluded booth, they heard a shocked ‘Buckley? Diaz?’ that pulled them away from each other- Chief Simpson standing in front of them with an astonished look on their face.
After an official reprimand (and a private one by Bobby) it had been determined that one of them would have to change shifts- Eddie ultimately being the one moved to work B shift at the 123.
They had been back on shift together for three months after spending so much time apart, just for it to be ripped away from them again- it was hell.
or buddie don't tell the lafd they're together, and then get separated at work bc of it

Summary
Do you love him?
Before Buck’s mind can formulate the undeniable answer in words, a burning sensation engulfs his forearm. For a split, irrational second, he thinks maybe he’s having a heart attack — but no, it’s the wrong arm, and the pain is too low anyway. He races over to his kitchen sink, planning to douse the flames in cold water, but when he looks down, he almost does have a heart attack.
Because there are two black bands maybe half an inch apart circling his forearm just below his elbow. Two black bands that definitely weren’t there when he left Eddie’s house fifteen minutes earlier.
“No,” Buck whispers, staring down at his arm in something like horror. “Oh, no.”
Because there’s only one thing it could be.
His soulmark.
***
In a world where your soulmark only shows up when you realize you're in love with your soulmate, Buck's appears at the worst possible time.

Summary
That’s when it sounded, when it could be heard above the roaring flames. A loud scream, filled with pure desperation and anger. It stopped, Bobby and Eddie sharing a glance, then it sounded a second time, louder and even more desparate if that was a possibility.
