Summary

Summary
What happened to Cleopatra's older sister and what does Julius Caesar talk about in the evenings in the military camp? From the court of the Ptolemies in Alexandria to Caesar's winter quarters in Gaul, the oneshots in this collection show episodes and memories from the time before Caesar and Cleopatra's famous meeting in 48 B.C. In addition, there are chapters from the perspective of the court lady Charmion, the minister Potheinos and Princess Arsinoe - as well as a few scenes that round off and complement my novel "Cleopatra - Song of the Pharaohs".

Summary
An interpretation of the days leading up to the death of Cleopatra, narrated by Iras, her handmaiden.
"The days lose shape and slip away, and every day brings with it the knowledge that it may be our last. My mother sends for me, but I let myself forget her. When I cannot sleep, I take to watching a flock of ibises by the river, feeling somehow satisfied as they lower their slender beaks to drink. I grow into a stranger; no one seems to mind."
