Sam shook his head as he hung the last of the Christmas decorations, colored fairy lights, on the tree he'd put up while Dean ran some errands, errands Sam knew nothing about and didn't want to know anything about.
If Dean was completing some kind of last-minute wish list, Sam would let him, because Dean had raised Sam his whole life and now he'd even sold his soul for him.

Dean is talking, Castiel thinks. He’s pretty sure, at least, though he can see Dean’s lips moving and there’s no sound coming out, so maybe he’s not talking, after all.
His lips are pink, a little chapped, and moving fast, near incessantly. Then, they’re faded to grey, movement slowed, lethargic. Like a large fish, Castiel thinks idly, feeding on krill. And finally, they cease to move at all, sinking into a cold blue hue.
Castiel releases his grip. Dean slumps to the ground, lifeless. The bruises around his neck are a deep shade of purple.

Dean slowly nods, confused. “I.. know, cas.”
Cas licks his lips and looks back outside the window, rain still going. “I hope you know what i mean, but.. i really care about you.”
