My friend, bmouse, likes it when good things happen to Garak. So do I.
Here are a few vignettes set on post-canon Cardassia, involving nothing but good things.
The background for these stories is "These Are Days" by 10,000 Maniacs. If you like the song, please buy it.The Kardasi in this story is a conlang based on the grammar proposed by galileoace, and fleshed out by myself and Vyc. Translations are provided in hovertext.
Garak's claws are entirely bmouse.

How can a rainbow find its way into a basement apartment? It must mean something... but what?
cosmictuesdays (aka Hannah) and I were talking about how DD9 Julian might love to wear tie-dye, and how Garak might make him a set of riotously-coloured pyjamas as a special request, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Hence: this. Rather fluffy.

Summary
Alternate universe. In this world, there was no Sgrub session, and a few events from the human space age have happened earlier, but these are only minorly related to the plot. After a failed Alternian invasion of Earth, humans managed to turn the tide and end up winning the war, and enslaved the entirety of the Alternian people.
John decides to purchase a troll without being fully aware of the reality of the situation, instead believing much of "common knowledge" instead, and realizes the reality of what humanity has really done and tries his best to cope with a language and cultural barrier and create an environment for his new troll to live in.
Rating and warnings are for later chapters, and are a bit conservative, but I prefer to rate my fics higher if I'm on the fence about a rating or warning.

How do you begin a story? How do you end it? Where does it go in its course? These are questions Lebera cannot answer. But they are valid questions all the same, most especially when it means the tale of life and the fate of nations.
That's probably unimportant, though.

And how sometimes those two things can overlap.
(And also how you can realise that kind of suddenly in the middle of the night, because SOMEBODY was inconsiderate enough to leave the light on in the main room of your shared quarters.)
Sort of a sequel to "blood, sweat, and a temple we can call home," but works just fine on its own.

Summary
Braid (topology) - threads that all originate on one plane and end on another, and are intertwined such that they cannot be untangled by deformation and can only be untangled by severance or intangibility.
Consider the two planes, the beginning and end of the joined threads, to represent the beginning and end of our lives, our birth and our death. Our lives, the threads, are strung from one plane to the other in such a way that they loop, twist, and tangle with one another. They tug on one another, hold on to one another, and are terrifically and inherently bound to one another by the paths they take from the initial plane to the ultimate.
No life, no thread, can be extracted from the other lives in its braid by any twisting, stretching, or torturing. They can only be extracted by being severed or made intangible, as in sudden death or ghosting.
Ben, a young and passionate prodigy from the Core, is up for his Jedi Trials. Armitage, a cold and careful nobody from the Outer Rim, is up for anything. The New Republic and the fledgling First Order don't care for their plans one bit.

The world has ended, destruction come and gone. But that's hardly important now, as what remains of humanity rebuilds. In a new Dark Age, new lands clash against each other in search of a leader capable of bringing them to some sort of enlightenment. Here, in what was once known as Bohemia, our story takes place following the epic rise and fall of the region's greatest future folk hero, Kasya the Brave.
The world has changed, and yet so much remains the same. Here, the future and the past coexist. Only time will tell if Kasya will succeed in bringing the post-apocalyptic world out of the Dark Ages.Series

Summary
This is a project to create a conlang that will expand upon and deepen the Elvhen language that was created for the Bioware game series, Dragon Age. Elvhen, as it is used in the games, is a cipher, not a language. My goal is to create a complete conlang, or at least a simulated conlang, that other fans can use. The goal is to create a constructed language that is to Dragon Age what Sindarin and Quenya are to Lord of the Rings.
I do want to stress that this is a constructed language based upon the limited Elvhen we had encountered within the games. I am not using magical linguistic ninjitsu to "Figure out," the Elvhen language. In terms of the "official," language, consider this linguistic fan-fiction.
This specific work is a collection of my ongoing progress Posts, which you can find on my tumblr (Link below in the notes).

Summary
"The Dai Bendu language was spoken by the members of the ancient Order of Dai Bendu on the frozen planet of Ando Prime. The name of the Je'daii Order was forged in that language."
"Every language is like a one-of-a-kind species. It captures unique conceptualizations of the world and has its own ways of constructing words, phrases and sentences for communicating ideas. As we compare the words and structures of various languages, we come to a greater understanding of our world. (...) Language captures how we perceive the world around us and how we relate to one another, it defines who we are. The Mother tongue language we grow up with is the one used to express what is in our hearts; our heart language."
"Studying language is invaluable for learning about other cultures and mapping their respective developments, histories, myths, customs, etc. Linguistics also helps us understand and document geographical /environmental influences, periods of migration/diaspora, origin of certain spiritual beliefs, etc. through the study of things like cognates, shared myths between cultures, language families, and tracking differences in word usage and dialects over a long period of time."

Summary
This is the various conlang dialogue Christian Thalmann and I translated for Netflix's Shadow and Bone, an adaptation of a number of books by Leigh Bardugo. The languages featured in the first season of the show are Fjerdan and Ravkan, both of which were originally conceived by Leigh Bardugo. Ravkan features a couple of phrases and a number of words and names. Fjerdan I actually helped with, a bit, in one or two of the books, but the rest was conceived by Leigh. I used Leigh's Ravkan words as a starting point and built off of them. Christian Thalmann and I co-created the Fjerdan language, and we did the same thing. There are places where we overwrote some things that were in the book, but generally this was done with Leigh's input.
In season 2, Jessie Peterson joined us as we continued work on Shadow and Bone. Jessie created the Shu language, and I created the Zemeni language. I also created the Zemeni orthography, while Christian Thalmann created the Shu orthography.
