Crocodile and Mihawk thought they'd set the precedent of their arrangement in the Cross Guild in stone. Even the act of assigning themselves as Lieutenants-turned-lovers solidified themselves as a part of Buggy's crew, and the few who had been around the longest in Buggy's crew knew what that meant for them.
Clowns were made to perform, and everything Buggy does is a performance. Only two groups know the real Buggy: his Family, and the ones who cross it. It often struck Buggy as odd that Crocodile’s hand was so plain. Aside from the writer’s bump, his hand was unmarred. Mihawk’s hands bore scars from mishandling his sword in his youth, but Crocodile’s hand bore no marks of navigating his hook. Buggy's fingernails bore the scars of nibbling with nerves, bore the stains of mixing gunpowder, bore the mismatched fingernail lengths of rarely having time to trim them, but Crocodile’s nails were perfectly manicured. A mere millimetre of white, the nails were curved, the nailbeds trimmed and clean. The skin smelt warm and musky, not like blade polish or gunpowder. There was a cleanness to Crocodile that Buggy had never seen before, a crispness achieved only by a wealth like Crocodile’s.
