Summary
A typical storm and an atypical story lead the Cross Guild's shadow leaders to spend more time with their chosen figurehead. Mihawk is strangely comfortable with it, but Crocodile is still learning to accept that Buggy the Clown isn't as uninteresting and weak as he'd always assumed. The ex-warlords might not get all the answers they want from Buggy, but they learn there's reason to respect the man--and maybe even begrudgingly admit that he has his charms.

The ash swirled in his hand, rising like a tornado and collapsing over the burn like the ocean over a rock. Sober, Buggy would realise that the ash was in fact sand, cold and grey, pressing over the injury to soothe it. But for now, he just watched as the grey powder rolled over his palm, pressing the burn back into his skin with an oddly refreshing pressure.

Crocodile and Mihawk thought they'd set the precedent of their arrangement in the Cross Guild in stone. Even the act of assigning themselves as Lieutenants-turned-lovers solidified themselves as a part of Buggy's crew, and the few who had been around the longest in Buggy's crew knew what that meant for them.
Clowns were made to perform, and everything Buggy does is a performance. Only two groups know the real Buggy: his Family, and the ones who cross it. Benn didn’t need a sixth sense to know when Shanks had been on the pull; he had eyes. The two favourites left their mark, deep red on Shanks’ sunburnt (even if he called it sun-kissed) skin. Lipstick in a waxy, sticky trail from Shanks’ mouth to his neck, down his chest, his stomach where it would smear wide, and down to his crotch. The morning after that night in Karai Bari, when Miss Nami learned that Crocodile had fed Luffy in the night, she had covered a laugh behind her hand and said, “Well, enjoy reaping what you’ve just sown, buddy.”
He’d just given her a flat, unimpressed look. “All I did was make a few extra of the sandwiches I was already making for myself. That hardly seems like the sort of action to invite consequences, even where Straw Hat Luffy is concerned.”
But she’d just grinned and swanned off, leaving behind a smug, “You’ll find out,” as she sent her captain off to find the rest of their crew.
Luffy, excited to see Crocodile again after bonding with him on their visit to Karai Bari, launches them into the jungle, where the pair have to go back the long way. While their crew search for them and Luffy has a grand adventure in the jungle, Crocodile decides this is a great time to have an existential crisis about the baby he left behind.
