    It only hits Dirk approximately two days later.

    He can offer only vague excuses as to why (there was a case, there was a parade literally outside his hotel window, a man chased them with a tuba and tried to hit them repeatedly), but really, they’re not good excuses, it’s a fairly major event and it’s a little ridiculous that he somehow muffled it against all the background noise.

    As a result, it is only when they are back home and Dirk is in his own apartment, bringing a mug back to the kitchen when it abruptly occurs to him that, two days earlier, on a balcony, he kissed Todd on impulse.

    Well, nothing except befuddlement and a sudden, gnawing urge to turn around and walk in any direction other than the one he’s currently headed in."

    Todd Brotzman: Fallen-angel-turned-demon who really isn't into this whole "demon" thing
    Dirk Gently: Holistic Angel who "tripped" and needs the help of his brand new assis-demon to get back up to Heaven

    Basically, Dirk and Todd are the same characters we know and love but they meet in a different way and exist within the angel/demon universe. Mannerisms and personalities are as much Canon as we are able to portray! Hope you like it!

He was always quite confused especially of late, especially with the whole bubblegum prince, purple people eater, and murder-y fun house nonsense that he was supposed to connect. But this was a different sort of confusion he didn’t quite understand or know how to deal with. So here he was, in a prison cell, with the homicidal dirt muppet who apparently wanted to stop the whole homicide deal. Go figure.

    Missing Scene fic set between 02x05 "Shapes and Colors" and 02x06 "Girl Power" that occurs during the Sound of Nothing afterparty in which Bart and Dirk bond after Dirk unceremoniously flees the scene after having made out with Todd.

    On most occasions, if a certain holistic detective was given the opportunity, he would enjoy the calmness that came with the universe deciding to be fairly quiet and not delivering unbidden hunches at a mile a minute. However, it is— all things considered— getting quite old. He hates being trapped inside, feeling like he’s in the eye of the storm, and like the second he leaves this ridiculous little flat that he will be flung headfirst into a very large and frightening bloody disaster. And he aches, knowing that he’s supposed to help people be where they need to go, and instead he’s just watching them walk the streets of Cambridge below when they all should be at home. Stupid ruddy bats always stealing fruit, flying into walls, and causing global pandemics.

    Based on my interpretation of the aftermath of Socially Distanced Dirk which originally aired at the 2021 Douglas Adams Memorial Lecture and written for the DGHDA 2021 Beginner Bang.
