Summary
Grace, Hob, and Morpheus have everything they've ever wanted. Married life suits them well. Grace and Hob have settled in to their roles in the Dreaming, and although there are some changes happening in the waking world, there's nothing about it that they would trade for anything.
But when an unexpected, although not unwelcome, surprise complicates the routine they've found themselves in, Morpheus and Hob must confront their separate pasts, while Grace looks towards the future.
A relationship of three, until a baby makes four.

Summary
Eve is a former primordial, exiled, and cursed exile seeking to survive in wakefulness. Presumably a native, she yearns for a sense of beauty and authenticity in a modern environment that she finds hostile and frivolous. She sprawls through the world trying to adapt to it gracefully while struggling internally with an unbearable pain that eats away at her, pushing her to destruction every time she thinks of her freedom.
Morpheus has partly lost his love for his role, reflecting on the monotony of an eternal life that does nothing but go round and round, losing himself in his role as a tool and forgetting his own identity.
A prophecy of catastrophic indoles is recited by The Moiras and both immortals get involved in each other's path, falling little by little into a sweet madness that could end the world and themselves.

It was the end of Morpheus. The Dreaming was destroyed, the Kindly Ones were on the rampage, and Daniel was set to become the new Dream of the Endless. So Morpheus took his sister’s hand, and found himself back in 1689 with quickly fading memories of a future that would never be -never had been- and trying to fumble his way through life again with his dearest friend by his side.
Or
Morpheus gets a second chance at life, at the price of his memories of the future. But at least he’s got a loyal, immortal friend by his side to help him through. A friend who could potentially be more.
Chapter 11 summary: In which Hob exchanges secrets with a nameless man and Morpheus speaks with his sister.

Summary
Dream of the Endless is surprised when one day the Fates arrive unannounced in his realm. They are not alone, either, for they bring with them an unconscious child goddess on the verge of fading into oblivion after her followers were slaughtered by a power-hungry monster. The Story-Star is a wandering goddess of storytelling formed from stardust by the dreams of children, and the Fates inform Morpheus that the girl would technically be his responsibility. He can either care for her or (having no followers left in The Waking to sustain her) The Story-Star will fade into oblivion as forgotten deity. The King of Dreams and Nightmares certainly wasn't going to tell the Fates no.

When Destiny issues an invitation to a family dinner, it isn't as if he can postpone it any longer. Grace and Hob meet most of Morpheus's family, and live to tell the tale.
