Before being chosen as Grom King, Gus was excited to impress Mattholomule with a dramatic, eye-catching, and romantic gromposal. Now that he's Grom King. . . he's not so sure if that's the best idea anymore. With the school's eyes on him and the impending doom Grom offers to its Royal pairing, Gus fumbles his Gromposal entirely. Now he's not sure what to do that he's become the stupid boyfriend from every Human Romcom Luz showed him.
Meanwhile Mattholomule doesn't know what to think. Gus having romantic feelings for him seemed like a lie, but he was so sure Gus wanted to ask him to Grom. But even if Gus did want to ask him, he won't anymore because he was Grom King, which meant he didn't need a weaker witch to drag him down. Yet deep down he still wants to be there at Gus' side, fighting as equals.
Navigating romance in magic high school is hard enough, it's even harder when both parties are dramatic and emotional teenage boys.

Arthur didn't know what a djinn was. Arthur was expecting death when it knocked the breath out of him and its hand flared an iridescent blue. Its fingers touched his brow and he screwed his eyes shut.

But Dean doesn’t even want to, now that he can see that world for what it is: a cheap hallucination, poking at all his weaknesses, going right for the soft underbelly Dean never shows.
All that work. All that work Dean had done over the past few weeks, trying to numb himself and act like he’d forgotten about it. And now it feels like the Empty took Cas all of five minutes ago, all over again.
