Summary
“Oh, what would I give to see drunk high school Eddie!” Buck wondered what Eddie must’ve been like during those years. Did he flirt with everyone the way Buck did? Or was he already a ‘nester’, just standing in the corner, beer in hand, pretending to enjoy the awkward conversation and looking for the time when it was acceptable to go home? Buck wasn’t sure what he would’ve done if he’d seen Eddie like that. Would he have gone over to talk to him? Flirt with him maybe? Make Eddie flustered and laugh because he was cute when he blushed? He wasn’t even sure they went to the same kinds of parties. He didn’t want to say any of this though, so he settled for, “He must’ve been a character!”

Summary
Diverges from chapter 13 to 17, wherein Buck and Eddie get together before Eddie accepts Bobby’s offer to join the 118, so he ends up at the 136 instead. When encountering each other on calls, they can’t help but flirt with each other. Only one small problem: Buck still hasn’t told anyone he’s married, let alone that he is dating Eddie, and Eddie told everyone he’s married, but forgot to mention he is married to Buck.

Summary
“Come on, you’re telling me you wouldn’t consider sneaking into a storage closet with me?”
“Obviously, I would!” Eddie was whisper-yelling now, and Buck wasn’t sure exactly what point he was trying to make, but he was enjoying every second of this. “But one of us is going to have to have restraint and it has to be the—the one with the most experience.”
Buck felt his mouth drop open in delight. “Eddie,” he admonished. “Are you calling me a whore?”
“No!” said Eddie, looking increasingly flustered. “I just mean—clearly you have the power to do—” he gestured at Buck, “that, so you have the—the responsibility to, like, use it. Responsibly.”
“Did you just quote Spiderman?”
Eddie propped his elbows on the table and dropped his head into his hands, groaning dramatically. “I’m going to die. The first date, and I’m going to die.”
“Been there, wouldn’t recommend it.”

Summary
“You can have my back any day.”
Buck flushed, a warm feeling he couldn’t quite identify spreading through his body. “Yeah, and uh– and you could have mine,” he replied, hoping Eddie wouldn’t notice how flustered he was feeling.
For some unknown reason Eddie had his eyebrows furrowed, squinting at Buck as if he was trying to work something out. “Hey, have we–”
“Let’s pack it up, boys!” Bobby yelled from beside the truck, causing Buck and Eddie to jump in surprise. Buck glanced back at Eddie, finding the man shaking his head sharply and trotting off to hop into the truck.
Huh. That was weird.

Summary
Eddie Diaz had one secret—his nude beach escape. For six years, it was his personal sanctuary, a place to unwind, away from the chaos of firefighting. That is, until fate and a heart attack call forced him to perform CPR… in front of his entire crew. Buck, Hen, Chim, and Bobby never imagined they’d see Eddie in quite this way, and now they’ll never let him live it down. But when Hen and Chim try to get payback, karma strikes back in the most unexpected way.
Quote:
Eddie glanced sideways at him, barely pausing in the compressions. “Buck,” he said casually, as if this were the most normal situation in the world. “What took you so long?”
Any hope that Eddie had that they could avoid that conversation was quickly thwarted.
Buck blinked, still stunned by the sight of his completely naked best friend performing CPR. He had to admit, it was a very nice view.
